They call me an outcast, weak. I’ve fought my whole life for survival, running from an attack on my family I ended up hiding with the Ash Wolves. This one move might be my biggest mistake of all. And I’m the queen of mistakes… monster inside me, one made of teeth and claws and terrifying need. I swallow it down, hiding under the pretense of being normal. But I’m not normal. I’m anything but.
Bonding is the only thing that will save us—me and the Ash pack. Only I need someone strong enough to fight the darkness inside me…and savage enough to stay.
Will the three ruthless alphas help me…when they find out the truth of what I am?
This is book 1 in a shifter paranormal romance story for those who love strong protectors, wolf shifters, and steamy scenes.

I am so in love with this entire series!! This one is by one of my favorite authors so of course I was twice as excited to read it. Mila did not let me down as she drew me into the story of her wolves during the zombie apocalypse. Fantastic writing will quickly draw you into the story as each new page reveals something else leading all the way to the cliff hanger ending because this will be that start of new series all on its own. I cannot wait to see what happens next. I totally loved it so I give it 5/5 stars.
I loved this book… I’m obsessed with all things Zombie Year 2099’… I’ve been anxiously awaiting Shadowlands Sector after finishing the Andorra Sector and Mila Young did not disappoint! From beginning to end I was hooked by Meira and her journey. There was so much supernatural goodness, lots of secrets, twists and turns and THAT ENDING! I may or may not have launched my kindle clear across the room! & I regret nothing because this book was SO GOOD! Honestly, this was my first read from Mila Young but it most definitely won’t be my last. I will definitely be doing some binge reading while I anxiously/impatiently wait for book two.

I loved this book, it was fast paced, action packed, and a real emotional rollercoaster, with a really good plot twist. I really liked Myra, and the Ash wolves, Krys really brought the characters to life with her narration. Unfortunately there is a cliff hanger so I’m desperate for the next book, and was over the moon to find out there was another series attached to this, The Andorra Sector. I received this book in exchange for my honest review.
Meira has alway been alone. She has always been an outcast, a loner. She has fought her way through a vicious attack on her family. She has always fought for survival. One day, she was kidnapped in the woods and was to be sold to another wolfpack. It wasn’t until her wolf, that has been aching and calling for her captors. The only problem is that there is something wrong with her.
Holy Crap! This was seriously fantastic and a great start to this series. This is such a unique Dystopian/Apocalyptic world with both zombies and shifters. Love this one so much. Can’t wait to see what happens next.
A fantastic start to a series. This story had it all. Sexy times, danger, mystery, and betrayal! Meira is a fantastic character and I can’t wait to read the rest of her story!
After I read “Playing with Hellfire”, I wanted, no correction, I needed to read more of Mila Young.
But who combines zombies with werewolves? Do I really want to read this? I am not a fan of zombies.
And OMG, I am so glad I did this. Coming home from a pre-Halloween event, I started this book. It captured me right from the beginning. And I ended up reading it on two sittings. I am so glad I decided to read this.
The heroine is bad-ass. She does in general not want or need rescuing. Her alpha males are a gorgeous bunch with strong characters. Then the world-building and storyline, leaves me wanting more. The zombies are not the main point. Just an obstacle in their world.
Can definitely recommend this book.
Would recommend this series based on Meira, a female wolf shifter alone fighting for survival in a post apocalyptic type world where there are undead, feral wolves and more. She meets her fated mates and all hell breaks loose.
Oh man! Where do I start! I am not a great reviewer but I try.. so here go’s… this book was my first time reading this author’s work and it was fantastic! She has a wonderful writing style and her world building is superb. The characters jump off the page and bring you into the story. Meria is a strong wonderful character that is interesting to see develop into a powerful woman. And the three guys who are falling for her Dusan, Lusian, And Bardhyl are such great characters too. There is a small cliffhanger but of course it will continue on in the second book. And I for one will be getting that too! This book is really great I highly recommend it! Go on and get it
Well every conceivable angle is woven into this story line. You got zombie apocalypse and the only survivors for the most part are sold shifters. You’ve got fated mates and an RH setup that is pretty darn steamy. Then you’ve got evil traitorous had guy wolves and life of death health issues coming to a head. This is certainly an interesting plot with good world building and character development. Looking forward to seeing what’s up next.
Everything about this book drew me in. Meira is a an incredible character who just wants to survive. When she gets captured by her area’s alphas she’s given a chance at a better life. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing Meira connect with each of her alphas. I’m curious to see how Meira is going to survive after that ending! How will Dusan handle the problems in his pack while also going after her. I’m hooked!
This was a fascinating read filled with plenty of intrigue, action, suspense, and of course steamy romance to keep you hook from beginning to end. Also I wasn’t expecting the zombie like elements that was really great. I will say that I wasn’t please with the cliffhanger ending just when things were getting good too. But I can’t wait to see what else is in store for this series. I voluntarily read and review this ARC no monetary compensation was received and the opinions I have expressed are my own.
This book is AWESOME! It literally is aLL of my favorite genres wrapped into one. She literally keeps it super seamless with fantastic characters, emotional appeal, and action. Just when I thought something was down a plot twist was thrown in unexpectedly causing me to be sitting on the edge of my seat to see what happens next. I cannot wait until the next book is released and my book hangover to be cured. Great job!!!
Great original ideas. Perfectly written and fully developed characters. Amazing world building and perfectly accompanied by a great story line. Well done! Am looking forward to anotherbook in this series.
In a world where humans are the minority and survive was the key word, Meira lives hiding both from monsters and from those who attempt against her freedom. This is the first book I read about this series of zombies and I was interested in Meira’s character, her secrets and her relationship with the alphas. The story has a lot of action, suspense, intriguing characters, zombie and some misguided shifters’ violence and heated passion. Good pace that kept me interested and reading eagerly fearing for Meira. The story continues with a second book that promises answers and more action.
So I have read alot of zombie books but this book was nothing like I’ve read before. It was a non stop thrill ride that I couldn’t put down and it had so much steam between meira and her men that I wish I was in her place. Meira was a strong badass female that even when she got knocked down she got right back up even stronger. That cliffhanger nearly killed me I can’t wait till I get to read the next book in this series. Definitely five stars from me!!
Dystopian/Omegaverse/Shifters/Reverse Harem
Damn, that was pretty fucking good. I didn’t have any expectations, not having read this author before.
Shadowlands Sector is set in the world Zombie Year 2099. A post-apocalyptic world filled with zombies, and where shifters or supernatural rule the world. I became addicted through the Andorra Sector, written by Lexi C. Foss. Having met Dusan in that book, I wanted his story.
And a story this was. I’m all about true wolf mates, the unnatural need, the frenzy, it’s wild and raw, exhilarating. This author kept me on my toes from start to finish. A strong female lead, with devastating secrets. Alpha males with endearing traits. And enough suspense that I couldn’t stop turning the pages. I need the next book asap. I also need to see what else this author has written.
I’m loving this world thus far. Unique concept and non-stop action!
I didn’t know what to expect when I started this book and wow was I pleasantly surprised. I had just finished the Beautiful Beast Academy so I knew that Mila could write great stories. This book had me turning pages as quick as I could just wanting to know what was happening. And the way the story ended I’m now left wanting to read more of this series. With great characters like Alphas that have hearts and compassion but still have that ruthless side to rule and punish when needed. And Meira who is a strong female lead she real can be a hellcat full of fight when needed.
I’m glad I have come across Mila’s work, it’s enjoyable and easy to read.
Ok, I have to admit, this is the first “zombie” related book I have read, honestly because I thought I wouldn’t like them, but this book had me intrigued because of the shifter aspect. I am so glad I gave it a shot! I loved this book! Meira is one badass FMC and I am absolutely in love with Lucien, Dusan, and Bardhyl! The storyline is fantastic and I cannot wait to see how the story progresses!
This was the first book that I have read by this author and I gotta say: Wowsers!!!! I have loved the story from the moment Meira meets the alpha in the woods…well a little before that time…but my point is that this story was super incredible and hooked me in from the word GO!
I am desperate to see where the story will go in the next book and if Meira manages to secure her happily ever after with her mates.
WOW! I have not read any of the Zombie Year 2099 series’, but this book makes me want to read some of the others. It was interesting and kept my full attention to the point that I couldn’t sleep until I finished it.
I loved Meira, she is such a strong and independent character that you can really feel for and connect with. Her interactions with her potential alphas is intriguing and really builds them up, while trying to help her with her wolf issues. This book does leave us with several questions that are not anwsered yet and led me to wanting the next book now.
I was able to read this book without having read the others in the interconnecting series’. I definitely recommend this one if you love post apocalyptic or wolf mate series or even just paranormal RH, it was a great read that you just won’t put down.
