Ruthless Empire is part of Royal Elite Series but could be read on its own. For better understanding of the world, you might want to read the previous books first. This is a mature new adult and contains situations that some readers might find offensive.

Author: Rina Kent
Rating: 4/5 ruthless stars
“I don’t mind self-destructing if it’s with you.”
This review will be a bit complicated, just like the book itself. I don’t think there is an easy way to describe Cole and Silver’s relationship; they had so many different layers, that trying to simplify it won’t make their story justice.
I will say that I enjoyed the book and the overall outcome of it, Rina did a marvelous job when it came to capturing my attention and captivating me throughout the whole thing. That was something I liked a lot about Ruthless Empire. The story is not what I was expecting to be, that was the biggest surprise, and being honest, is what I liked the most about it.
Seeing the story-line develop was very interesting to me because, in this book, you will be too see who Cole and Silver are, like who they truly are. You’ll see their flaws, their virtues, and most importantly, their vulnerabilities. And that’s my takeaway from both of them, being vulnerable sucks. But it’s also a great way to overcome those fears; fight for what matters the most to you.
If you a looking for a lovely and uncomplicated romance novel, this one is not it. This one is dark, gritty, filled with angst and passion, and that defines Rina Kent’s writing at its best.
PS: I need Daddy King’s duet, a-stat!
PPS: watch it, MAJOR PLOT TWIST coming your way!
ARC provided in exchange for an honest review.
This is the 6th book in this phenomenal series and is Cole and Silver’s story. Let me start by saying that this story is mind-blowing, and everything I thought I knew about Cole from previous stories, does not even skim the surface of his persona. Cole is one of the four horsemen and is dark, dangerous, and manipulative, and is known as “Famine” with his iron control and photographic memory. Silver is known as Queen B after the cruel way she treated Kim and Elsa, but Cole knows everything there is to know about Silver, and the reasoning behind her actions. I must say that Silver does redeem herself along the way. This is a phenomenal story which this talented author has done and outstanding job in penning. This story is intense, twisted, with off the chart’s chemistry, and is an epic and steamy read. I cannot wait to read more from this gifted author whose work I recommend highly.
Awesome Read! Loved these characters and all the feels! Silver and Cole have such a story to tell. Complete with teenage Angst, lust , love, joy,
And happiness. There is also the depression, trauma and intensety that defines Cole and his Butterfly. I loved this book!
I reviewed a complementary copy of this book.
Oh man that was one crazy emotional read and I devoured it in one sitting. To be honest the heroine hasn’t been one of my favorites that we have seen, throughout the series she always came off as the snobbish girl that behaved badly so I wasn’t sure if I wanted her as Cole’s love interest. I went in trying hard not be judgmental about her it was hard, but I am glad because I learned so much about Silver and why she acts the way she does. As we all know her and Cole have a shaky relationship that is full of angst, hate, and passion he wants to make her suffer as well as need him. Cole is the silent nerdy type that everyone misreads because while they think he hides behind his books; he is observing everyone waiting to find out their secrets. These two are so explosive their passion just rains off the pages, but they are oil and vinegar too. I am so glad I didn’t give up on Silver because she went through a lot and all the twists and turns had me on the edge of my seat dying to know what would happen next. I ended up loving Silver and Cole so much and was rooting for them, but things and obstacles stand in their way can they make it out unscathed or are they doomed to never be together?
Oh wooo.. I don’t even know where to start or what to say about how E P I C Ruthless Empire is! It checks off all my favorite boxes!! I’ve always said that I would read anything Rina Kent writes because I’m such a huge fan of her books. Hardly any ow/om drama, the perfect angst, never any cheating, Rina just always delivers. And this book took it to another level. I can’t get enough of this world and all its amazing characters! & That’s saying a lot when I usually avoid and despise ongoing series. There are only a few that I’ve dedicated my time to and RES is one that I will always love.
Rina Kent has created a cast of characters that I can’t get enough of. While each story is centered around two awesome people she is weaving stories in the backdrop like a seamstress. There is always something else going on behind the scenes that keeps you guessing. & Trust me, if you’re part of her spoiler group, there were many many guesses about how this story would turn out. I think it’s safe to say this book was probably the most anticipated book of the series.
I’ll be the first to admit that when the heroine, Silver, was first introduced in RES, I was not her biggest fan. But as the story & world progressed, I went from hating her to being super anxious about Silver throughout the last few books and none of them were even hers yet! Now we finally get to her POV and she’s officially my favorite h of this series. This isn’t the first time Rina Kent has made a character I initially hated to my most favored before, she’s probably the only one who can do so. Silver was so precious. Getting into her head and understanding her motives, actions, feelings— I loved every minute of it. Silver was such a relatable character and it was impossible not to put ourselves in her shoes.
AND Cole. Oh man..his mind, his thoughts. All of it pure perfection. I’ve always loved a hero that is consumed by the heroine, obsessed to the point of doing ANYTHING for OR to her. *wink wiink* I found him in Cole. I was always intrigued with this bookworm with a dark vein running through him, Cole won me over almost immediately. I loved his no nonsense way of throwing caution to the wind .. not wasting anymore time. Giving a middle finger to anything or anyone that stood in the way of his chaos. I loved having his point of view because it really added to the overall feel of what everything was leading up to.
While this book was also very much a thrilling suspense I still found so much beauty in their love story. These two have consumed me and I’m still nursing the mother of all book hangovers. There was never a moment that this story became boring or bogged down and the twist just…WOW. The steam level is unimaginable as Silver and Cole come together through the pages. You won’t easily find another hero and heroine to melt your Kindle like this couple do. They both had some issues and they struggled, boy, did they struggle. But it didn’t deter them from what was always meant to happen. Cole & Silver, always.
This was a lengthier book out of the series but it moves with a pace and plot that will keep you turning the pages. I’m obviously very satisfied but as with all of Rina’s stories, you can’t help but want more. SO much so that this world she has here created and all these amazing secondary characters have left wanting even more of this gang, because even with that absolutely PERFECT Epilogue, I just don’t want to leave this world. Her trademark writing style of dark, delicious heroes, soft but badass heroines and unpredictable twists is always present, but always with a hint of something new, something that I can’t exactly explain, a deceivingly effortless story telling that gets us addicted and begging for more, each and every time. And Ruthless Empire is proof of that.
I never want to say bye to these characters and I don’t think I ever can. I’m going to be rereading their stories forever & I just cannot wait for their upcoming epilogue, I’m already counting down the days.
The finale to the Royal Elite series tells Cole and Silver’s story. A gentleman on the outside and a beast within, Cole is the silent but deadly horseman known as famine. His infatuation with Silver started when they were children. He is the only person to see past her façade, the bitchy mask she wears to protect herself and those she cares about. She promised him her firsts, and when it looked like she broke that promise, Cole’s interest turns to stalker-level obsession. But he is not the only one with an unhealthy love for her. A real psychopath lurks in the shadows, and they are finally making their presence known.
I really enjoyed learning about Cole and Silver’s true natures. I had suspected there was more to Silver than meets the eye earlier in the series, and this book proved me right. As for Cole? Oh boy, that man has some issues, and it was good to gain insight into them. Sure, there was the kidnapping that happened to the boys when they were younger, but that wasn’t the darkest part of his past. The plot takes an intriguing turn when we learn the Doll Master’s identity and I never would have guessed. I loved the complicated relationship dynamics between Cole and Silver, and their chemistry is hot AF.
If you enjoyed the earlier books in the Royal Elite series, I highly recommend this one. If you haven’t read any of these books yet, and you like dark romance, you should check them out.
Silver and Cole’s story has always been my most anticipated and I loved it so much!!
Their chemistry is everything. The moments they have together are my favorite for how strong their emotions are. Silver is probably my most favorite female character. I love everything about her and how in moments she becomes vulnerable that I feel for her. She’s strong and fierce and I love that.
Silver and Cole’s relationship develops along the previous books and now we get to their pov and know more. Rina Kent did really well in capturing all those moments.
My Rating: 1/4
Type: Standalone
Genre: Contemporary Fiction Romance
Primary Characters: Cole and Silver
Narration: Dual POV
I jumped directly to this book as soon as I finished Twisted kingdom. I was hoping I will like Cole more than Aiden. Cole was super disappointing. To me, Aiden still rocks in RES World.
Even though author mentioned there are some repetitive scene which matches the timelines of Aiden and Elsa’s story, I wasn’t expecting that much of repetitiveness. Climax was sort of super surprising. Apart from climax I didn’t like the dynamics between Silver and Cole. I didn’t understand the Silver’s logic of pushing Kim away. It was silly. Relationship between Cole and Silver was very dim and I lost interest in their relationship not even half way through the book. It was just the same cycle repeating again and again. Almost 80% of the book is boring as nothing much happens in that period.
Plot is boring. Character development was bad. Narration was ok ok.
If you are familiar with Rina Kent’s RES world and want to know more about Cole and Silver, then pick this up, else its ok to skip this book as you won’t be missing anything.

This was perhaps the most anticipated book of the entire series. I remember how eagerly I was waiting for this book. I bought it the moment it was available and pulled an all nighter for it.
Silver and Cole’s story was so wonderfully unique and at times heartbreaking.
SILVER QUEENS
She hides behind the mean girl facade. This was the way she has been raised. She is supposed to be the perfect lady in front of everyone. She pushes people away to avoid showing any emotions. Silver was such a strong character despite her flaws. The way carries herself was so inspiring.
COLE NASH
Ah! Cole! He was such an enigma and trying to figure him out throughout the book made it so much interesting. He was cold, manipulative and at times, ruthless. But nobody could see this side of him. In the eyes of everyone, Cole was a golden boy. This made his character so intriguing. Rina did a wonderful job shaping his character from the very first book of the series. And I have to mention how good the character development was.
Together, Silver & Cole fit so perfectly. The constant pull and push made their story so entertaining and at the same time their internal struggle made it heartbreaking. They desired each other against all odds.
THE DOLL MASTER
Oh boy! This took me for a ride. I kept guessing on every turn but I just couldn’t figure it out. What an amazing mystery the doll master was! Rina blew my mind. Her writing was impeccable.
While I am sad that the series has ended, I thoroughly enjoyed each and every book.
This series has been one of my absolute favorites, I’m sad to say goodbye but honestly what an amazing farawell has been. Silver and Cole where everything! My fav couple were always Xan and Kim but this two just took their place. I love their history so much, and how Rina explain every little detail to a fault, honestly in in awe of this woman writhing style! This book made me cry, laugh and swoon over this characters. They were so very real and made me feel everything that they where feeling. Cole was amazing but for me Silver takes the cake in these whole book, she’s such an interesting character and she’s also the one that had to grow the most trough the whole series, I felt her pain and her happiness. She became one of my favorite female leads and I’m so happy my girl got her happy ending. 100% recommend this book, series and everything wrote by Rina Kent!
After reading Aiden & Elsa trilogy, I straight away wanted to know more about the mysterious handsome Cole. So I decided to jump to book 6 and read about his and Silvers story.
Unfortunately, I was a bit disappointed and that is simply because I could not stand Silver! She is such a brat. And telling the person, the ONLY person who has always been there for her, that she hates him ALL the time?! Argh. I got so over her attitude. If she admitted to her feelings and wasn’t so “bratty”, Cole wouldn’t have been so cheeky. So unfortunately, I found myself skimming over her chapters because I honestly couldn’t relate or connect with her thinking/character. Almost think Cole deserves better. She whined and whined about her parents divorce, meanwhile Cole bloody grew up with an abusive parent and lost him. But she seems to be the one who needs more comforting? That’s why say “bratty” aka “centre of the attention”.
There is a huge twist near the ending, that does save the story and makes you go OMG but also feel broken for Cole. But yet it seemed to be all about Silver again ?!!?!?
I don’t know. Yeah sorry, only 3 stars for me.
Twisted Curveball
What a way to round out this series! Cole and Silver’s POV go through almost a decade of beginnings and firsts to filling in parts from the other Horsemen’s storylines.
Emotionally charged rollercoaster with very hot, steamy moments. Out of them all, I highlighted several key points/sayings in the beginning. I have loved Cole’s character since the first book with Aiden.
Huge curveball and dark twist though. I did NOT see that coming!
I can’t believe all the emotions this book made me feel! Definitely watch out for some plot twists. My brain is still reeling from them.
This entire series has been a whirlwind that I’ll never forget. Thank you! I truly feel these characters are out there in some reality, and that always gives me hope.
Ruthless Empire by Rina Kent is a dark high school bully romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Shane East and Keira Stevens. This is the sixth book in the Royal Elite Series.
The book does come with a caution “This is a mature new adult and contains situations that some readers might find offensive.”
I absolutely love this series! Rina is an amazing writer! She pulls me into the story and makes me fall in love with the characters. I loved the relationship between Cole and Silver. I loved the added character of Doll Master throughout the book. It really kept me on my toes and I couldn’t wait to see what was going to happen next. I can’t wait for Royal Elite Epilogue to be released on December 10, 2020.
Shane and Keira did an amazing job on the narration! I absolutely love duet narration it just brings the story to life.
I would highly recommend this book if you love dark romance, bully romance, or romantic suspense.
I couldn’t wait to get to this story as it was teased in all the prior books in the series. It did not disappoint. Silver & Cole are my favorite couple of the series (I like all the couples). I adored their story so much. A rollercoaster of push-pull, of soulmates who won’t bend, of one who runs from them and the other who chases to make them be true. It was quite a ride featuring two strong-willed characters who found each other early then took a long while to get it right. I couldn’t put this book down. Can’t wait for their portion of the Royal Elite Epilogue book dropping shortly. Cole & Silver are everything.
Rating: 4.5 starts
I am always in awe of the main characters in a Rina Kent book, especially the Horsemen in the Royal Elite series.
Ruthless Empire is the story of Cole and Silver’s romance. Cole is the fourth horseman, Famine. He is silent and deadly on the football field. His head is always buried in a book, so people assume that he never knows what is going on around him. However, Cole is super observant, a genius with a photographic memory and very dark thoughts, the starter of chaos.
He has been through some trauma in his eighteen years of life, he uses chaos as a defence mechanism. The only person who has ever been able to calm him is Silver.
Silver is the Queen Bit.., she is mean to everyone especially Kim and Elsa, but is she really mean or playing a part? After reading Ruthless Empire, I now like Silver, before I could not stand her. We get a look into her life and what/who makes her the way she is.
Cole and Silver both seem to balance each other out in a perfect match. They are pretty steamy with each other but one knows to expect steam when reading a Rina Kent novel.
Ruthless Empire is an eye-opener to Cole and Silver’s life. This was an enjoyable read!
This book is extremely amazing that even after I have finished reading it for the first time, I re-read the entire book all over again. My God, I think I’ve reread this book more than 5 times already after it has been released because it was THAT amazing. I guess one of the reasons is probably because SilverCole is my favourite couple since Deviant King. Like even in the earliest books, we can already see that they have a very intense relationship where Cole always loses his cool composure every time Silver was being mentioned by the rest of the horsemen. Not only that they were also very possessive towards one another despite Silver being engaged to Aiden during that time.
.
On the other hand, in the previous books, we’ve seen that Cole is considered as a cold hearted sadist while Silver is considered to be the bad bitch in the series. However in this book, Rina finally shows their true character which help the readers to see and understand more about them and their relationship. GOSH, after reading the book, I fell madly in love with the couple because I didn’t expect them to be so
.
Overall THIS IS THE BEST OF THE BEST!! The romance, drama, angst, suspense, and the plot twist are absolutely perfect. I love it so much that I would re-read the book just to relive back all the SilverCole moments
No one does dark romance, chemistry, and emotion quite like Rina Kent! The series is “hands down” one of my very favorites!!!!
I knew Cole was going to be a surprise, and I was right. Kent didn’t disappoint. Behind his quiet facade is a much darker boy than I imagined, but man is he irresistible and infuriating. I could see exactly why Silver hated him. He lived to torment her, but as I read their story, I realized it wasn’t for the reasons I thought it was.
Cole and Silver are pretty perfect for one another. They were always in competition with one another. If they weren’t competing for first place, they were constantly arguing or insulting one another. Yet, their story was filled with love and emotion.
Both Cole and Silver had their issues. I won’t delve too deep into them because I will not reveal any spoilers because there are plenty of twists and surprises in store for you. I will tell you Silver puts on the mask of coldness and popularity, but it is her way of having control. As she says, “It means I get to keep all my pieces together.”
Cole likes control as well, but he expresses it in a very different way. He uses it to control other people. When these two come together, it’s like a burning inferno. They have a past, and I liked that Kent included flashbacks to really help understand their complicated relationship.
As with all her other books, there is darkness, but she always gives her characters light. Her writing is beautiful, almost poetic at times. That is what makes Rina Kent so special!!!!
She’s done it again with Ruthless Empire. I’ve said it before but I’ll say it again. Rina never disappoints! We finally got the story we’ve waited for! Cole and Silver’s story. Cole and Silver are constantly at each other’s throat but their chemistry is off the charts! Emotionally and physically. Silver’s character has always intrigued me since the first book in the series. This book definitely redeems her actions from the past!
“Cole and Silver’s story have me breathless! Their story was everything I wanted and way much better. Dark, twisted and suspenseful with the perfect dosis of heat and passion. Together they were like fire! Silver was ok. I knew we were going to see more of her and it was quite interesting seen her layers. Cole, he was such a jerk but to be honest I kind of expected him to be liked that. I loved him there’s no doubt about it. Rina once again blew my mind with her twisted write and it was pure bliss.”
