“Maybe you have to know the darkness before you can appreciate the light.” ~ Madeline L’EngleDarkness has fallen upon the Sparrow world. What seemed secure was breached, and what was assumed unattainable is possible. In this dangerous underground world, we Sparrows took our power by force. As dusk gave way to dark, we Sparrows are once again determined to use any means necessary to recover what … necessary to recover what is ours, secure our stronghold, and defeat those who appear unconquerable.
The gauntlet has been thrown.
We will not retreat.
Darkness be damned. It is time for triumph.
I am Reid Murray.
For my wife and my brothers-in-arms, nothing, not even darkness, will stop the Sparrows from victory.

The tension heightens as the head Sparrow’s work toward finding out who kidnapped their wives, then as harrowing memories come to light things get deliciously darker. Dark (Dangerous Web #2) is a gripping read that you won’t want to miss!
Mad. Angry. Furious. Enraged.
Repulsed by what happened to Lorna and infuriated by what is currently happening to Reid.
Just a few adjectives to describe how I’m feeling after finishing Dark. Aleatha has once again tortured me (in a good way) with her words.
I need answers. I need closure. I need Dawn!
Another thrilling read by an amazing author.
Dark was a captivating page turner that had me glued to my reader. Lorna’s story is so emotional that I hurt for her. As each new memory bubbled to the surface, I wanted to cower in the corner, afraid of where Aleatha was going to take me next. With Lorna’s dark and sexy prince Reid ready to slay her dragons, I’m anticipating that Dawn will be an epic conclusion to an epic series.
5 out of 5 stars
Lorna has been found and is bruised and battered but not broken . Reid is blaming himself for the fact that she was taken . With the help of his brothers he is going to find out who did this to his wife and his love . There is more going on in the Sparrow world and they want it to come to an end . Lorna is recouping but she is having trouble with things from the past that have been buried deep down . Reid is the man that can wipe those memories away once he can piece them all together . As they travel through the darkest time of their life together will they be able to come out the other side together .
OMG what can I say about Lorna and Reid . Lorna is surviving and trying to get back to normal but what is normal after being abducted and trying to regain her memory . She is a fighter and she wants to get her memories back . She is suffering ptsd and we really get to see her fight . Reid feels broken cause he thinks he couldn’t protect her . So he is fighting with himself and trying to give Lorna what she needs and wants . You really get to see them as a couple but also as two souls lost in the night trying to find their way back to each other . I love this couple so much they show how being broken and fighting back can be easier if done together .
This is a more intense book then book one . The author has gone deep for this one, we find out more about Lorna and Mason and what their life was like when they were young . We find out that Lorna has been through so much and is so resilient. The author took us on such a roller coaster ride with this book . One moment I was bawling my eyes out and cursing the author and the next moment my kindle was too hot to handle . I so love this series , the characters are so well written and complex , the story line is so intense I couldn’t put the book down . There were moments when I just wanted to wrap up the main characters and say I am sorry that this happened . Then there were moments I wanted to slap each of them upside the head . I really want to say that you should read this series in order to get the true feelings of the characters . I will warn you there is a cliff hanger at the end of the book but it is worth it . So check out the series you will not be disappointed
IT’S ALWAYS DARKEST BEFORE THE DAWN
“Dark claimed another victory.”
What a dark, vulnerable, and wild ride for the 2nd book in the trilogy, as the Sparrows pull out all the stops in pursuit of answers to the mistaken abduction and torture of two of their women. The tense mystery is just a percolating time bomb ready to explode, as the tension coils tighter and tighter like a predator snake ready to spring at any moment. The spotlight is on Lorna embroiled in amnesia, shocking details of her past, and haunting dreams. The many questions and answers in this nail-biting conundrum will ensnare, repulse, and break your heart in a personal story of love, resilient spirit of survival, and fierce protectiveness of the man who loves her.
The captivating journey provides knee-buckling surprises in a slow build — quiet and internal on the surface, but a building powder keg under the surface. AR has given us another turbulent and winding mystery filled with surprises and dead-ends that culminate in a blackout, shocking conclusion that I didn’t see coming. The emotionally grinding journey builds momentum until that coil finally snaps in an adrenaline-charged cliffy. Mark your calendars for release of the final book DAWN in February 2021.
This is a book of love, hate ,confusion, revenge and family.
The relationship between Lorna and Reid shows so many sides and elements in this book and what is most fascinating is the depth to Reid’s character now a line has been crossed. You can’t help but champion him and want him to succeed in his mission but this book is packed with twists and turns and also so much more to come. Lornas journey through the fallout from the kidnap is both traumatic but self defining and you feel her pain but also the sassy fight and determination.
There is so much more to this story than you imagine,I’m positive there are hidden clues and have my own thoughts on where this will go but as I know from previous Aleatha Romig books I’m usually way out the ball park.
Hold on tight if you thought book 1 had a cliff hanger, get your hiking boots on this is a mountain.
Can’t wait for book 3.
5 So Many Answers but Still So Many Questions Stars
I voraciously consumed this book in one sitting because, HELLO it’s the continuation of Dusk and I NEEDED to find out what happened next. Leave it to Ms. Romig to give us just the right of information and answers but also I still have so many questions…..
As I was reading this book and we get glimpses of what Lorna, Mason and their little sister Missy endured growing up, I was horrified because no child should ever have to go through those situations. These flashbacks are slowly leading up to the ultimate finale of the Sparrow World but we’ve still got a ways to go.
Thankfully Reid is the man he is because he’s Lorna’s rock and the entire Sparrow outfit has made it their mission to find out the why’s of what Lorna and Aranae’s abduction. And let me tell you, there’s some definite surprises that come with their investigations. I was very intrigued by the people they met with and what secrets were revealed. But to say this battle will be an easy win is certainly not what will happen.
I’m not sure my heart can take this much action, but I’m on this ride and I cannot wait for the justice that will be brought upon those that thought they could best anyone in this circle of friends who have more power than anyone would like to acknowledge to themselves.
So buckle up for the ultimate finale in Dawn!!!
Lorna and Reid’s story continues with more of her past revealed and bringing with it more questions, in this highly addictive, totally twisted romance. I couldn’t put it down, and oh boy that ending!!!!!
Dark is book 2 in the Dangerous Web series and is the continuation of Reid and Lorna’s story. This story picks right up where book 1 left off. Lorna has been rescued but she is far from alright. She’s in terrible condition- physically, mentally and emotionally. She was given a drug that has played havoc with her memories and she can’t remember anything when’s she gets home. Lorna doesn’t know how to move on and Reid is dealing with his own guilt over her kidnapping, abuse and trauma. The ups and downs, and the twists and turns that occur in this story will take the readers on an insane rollercoaster ride all the way up to a epic cliffhanger! I can’t wait for book 3 in Lorna and Reid’s story.
My Rating: 4.5 stars ********
This is the second book in the Dangerous Web Trilogy, a captivating Romantic Suspense. You have to read this series in order. The story continues where the first book left off. The storyline is intricate, and enthralling, filled with secrets and twists and turns. Lorna is a strong character. Her past is heartbreaking. Some scenes are difficult to read. Reid is handsome, caring, supportive, and protective. The past to present is well done and easy to follow. The supporting characters are great, and they have an important part in this story. The Sparrow men are handsome, powerful, ruthless, and caring. There is a lot going on in this installment. The story ends with a cliffhanger, and I can’t wait to read the conclusion of Reid and Lorna’s story in Dawn. This Series is interconnected with: Web of Sin (Sterling and Araneae’s story), Tangled Web (Mason and Laurel’s story), and Web of Desire (Patrick and Madeline’s story).
Ms. Romig is one of my absolute favorite authors. I always wonder how somebody so sweet and come up with some of the twisted things that happen in her books. DARK broke my heart. It was hard to read some chapters, I know it’s necessary for the story so I was able to plow through. Watching Reid comfort her, they have an amazing relationship. Queen of the cliffhangers has done it again. I desperately need Reid and Lorna’s final book…like NOW!
5 Stars
Dark by Aleatha Romig is the second book in the Dangerous Web Trilogy. It cannot be read as a stand-alone, so you’ll need to read Dusk first.
Wowwww!! What an incredible story. Dark picks up exactly where Dusk ended and oh my gosh-Ms. Romig makes you feel all of the emotions with this one. I adore Lorna so freakin’ much in this book. She is so strong even in her weakest moments. Reid’s love for her is so powerful and beautiful all at the same time. There is nothing he won’t do for her and you feel it in every word that’s written. Gah it was amazing.
All I can say is that there is no one who writes romantic suspense as amazing as Ms. Romig. She literally has me on the edge of my seat dying to know how it’s all going to play out. I am so excited to read book 3!
You should really read Dusk first.
What an explosive action packed filled with a twist or two read. We have Reid who we know will do anything to protect the ones he loves. We get a glimpse into the ordeal Lorna went through as a child. Then the incident that happened in Dusk.
Dawn will be the final book.
For me this book is the hardest book from Aleatha i have ever read so far for Dark have the biggest trigger warning for me.
Fair warning for you who have trigger warning, treat carefully for Dark have quite detail cringe worthy scenes.
Child abuse is always been the hardest limit for me to read. And to see, feel and experience it all from a ten year old girl…i’m sick and angry and scared and just have to put down this book for few hours just so i can be there for Lorna tell her story.
And its powerfull. Heartbreak, yes. For no one, specially a child should endure such abuse. But to see Lorna become so brave even in her down, to see her survive, to see her so love…i’m crying writing this. Seriously, Aleatha done a great job with Lorna.
And Reid. No one is perfect. But Reid, this is the man i want to be in my corner anytime anyday. The way he love Lorna, the way he stand strong for them, the way he goes to the deep end to make sure she’s safe while recognizing how strong and beutiful his wife is. Reid is that man!
Another point for Dark, i say this book is the most emotional. Lorna past trauma collided with recent trauma definitly take lots of cake in this book. Her relationship with Reid is the best since we dont see much of their early relationship before marriage. But like Reid said, he doesnt need to know how much he love her until something bad happened. He just knew from the first time they meet.
After the dusk clear from Lorna and Aranae abduction. The darkness is coming to the heart of the Sparrows.
Theres only one thing they can do. To come out as the victor.
I was so excited to finally get more information on Reid and Lorna! We get to learn a lot about Lorna’s past, helping to uncover just what happened when the women were taken. It was interesting to get the information in pieces, right along with Lorna. This book was a bit slower in the action department, but there was so much information, emotion, and glimpses of the past that it still kept me engaged and wanting more. Make sure you read Dusk first, then buckle up for the emotional rollercoaster that is Dark! *I received a copy of the story in exchange for my honest opinion.
Exquisite, this book was dark, decadent and sinfully delicious!
Suspenseful, intense and at times chilling, this installment is so appropriately titled as it accurately described how certain elements of this story unfolded.
This is book 2 of the dangerous web and it starts right where book 1 ended. In fact what this author does which I love is that she gives a brief recap so you can pick up right where it ended.
In this installment, Lorna and Reid’s story continues to evolve and develop as certain secrets are revealed and discoveries are made which lead to more complex and complicated mysteries. What the end game is and who their new enemies are made this book unputdownable
their unconditional love and the sacrifices they’re willing to make are put to the test.
This installment was heart wrenching, emotional and at times difficult to read without pausing due to some disturbing scenes that were presented and fit the story.
What happens when you start having flashbacks but you can’t remember if it’s real or fantasy, past or present?
Lorna’s character was the real star of this read as she comes to terms with certain discoveries and commits to continue her struggle not only to affirm her love for Reid but for her family.
Reid proved what a warrrior he truly is as he embarks on a horrifying and deadly mission for his beloved.
This is a story of family and unconditional love and book 3 cannot arrive fast enough!
Book 2 in the Dangerous Web series, this follows straight on from Book 1 ‘Dusk’ which was all about the abduction of Lorna (wife to Reid and sister to Mason) and Araneae, Sparrow’s wife. Book 2 ‘Dark’ is all about their return back to Sparrow’s Tower and their recovery, specifically Lorna rather than Araneae.
This was not an easy read, dealing heavily with her PTSD and her memory loss, where she gets flashbacks the things she cannot remember, but not only from her abduction – she was abused as a child by her mother’s boyfriend, and the story goes quite detailed regarding this – be warned this was quite horrendous and turned even my stomach. Hats off to Aleatha though as this was dealt with brilliantly in the story.
Reid and Mason are also affected by Lorna’s abduction, with Reid wanting to murder everyone that has hurt her, but Lorna just wants him to be with her and does not want retribution. They believe The Order were involved in their abduction and set about trying to track the people down, including Lorna’s abuser when she was just a child.
A very gritty and raw read, Lorna’s flashbacks to what she has been through and her subsequent reactions were very realistic. The book ends on a dramatic cliffhanger I wasn’t really expecting! Looking forward to the concluding book in this trilogy to see how it all plays out.
I’ve officially become Aleatha’d with this book. Dusk was my first read by Ms. Romig and left me intrigued. You must read that book first.
Dark lives up to its title as Reid and Lorna both travel down dark paths following Lorna’s abduction. Reid has dark thoughts of revenge for Lorna’s abductors. Lorna starts to remember dark repressed memories from her childhood, which may have been triggered during her kidnapping. It’s not an easy path they venture down, but the one light is their strong love and bond toward one another. Theirs is a beautiful love story in the midst of of all the uglies.
I can’t wait for book 3 to see who is behind the abduction and how it may relate back to Lorna’s childhood.
Book two in the Dangerous Web trilogy comes with warnings. First, major cliffhanger at the end and secondly, for those sensitive to child sexual abuse, be prepared for some very hard to read scenes.
I received an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.
After reading Dusk, I was anxiously awaiting to dive into this book. Dark is book 2 in the Dangerous Web Trilogy and must be read in order.
Dark was a little more on the slower scale for me. While the story flowed nicely, we don’t get much action. Don’t get me wrong, there are some heated sexy times and we learn little things here and there but after the ending we got in Dusk, I was expecting to go in with all guns blazing. Especially from my Sparrow men. The focus is more so on Lorna recovering physically and mentally.
We do learn more about Lorna’s younger years. She has dreams or flashbacks of her past. I will warn whoever reads this review…it’s not pretty. It so far from it that I actually had to skip paragraphs within several chapters because I became so angry and disgusted. While my heart broke for Lorna, it was a little too much for me to read.
With all that being said and done, some parts start to click into place as to why things are happening. But as always, with some questions answered, you only get 100 more with an Aleatha book.
The ending is in true Aleatha fashion and ends in a huge cliffhanger. I knew something was going to happen but wasn’t expecting that.
As always, I need more answers and look forward to getting them all answered and concluding this series with Dawn. Lorna and Reid need their Happily Ever After, as do all the other couples.
Here’s the deal with Aleatha Romig books: she’s going to grab you by the heart and NOT LET GO until the whole entire story has been told. If you’re not prepared for the ride, then find another author. BUT, the world-building that Romig is capable of is unbelievable. The Sparrow World is one of my favorites of hers thus far. DARK left me with that “Oh S&$%” moment at the end and now I can’t wait for the next book. It’s just that good. Full of angst and twists and turns. It’s phenomenal and you will love it. Definitely dive into the Sparrow world and keep reading with DARK!
