“Maybe you have to know the darkness before you can appreciate the light.” ~ Madeline L’EngleDarkness has fallen upon the Sparrow world. What seemed secure was breached, and what was assumed unattainable is possible. In this dangerous underground world, we Sparrows took our power by force. As dusk gave way to dark, we Sparrows are once again determined to use any means necessary to recover what … necessary to recover what is ours, secure our stronghold, and defeat those who appear unconquerable.
The gauntlet has been thrown.
We will not retreat.
Darkness be damned. It is time for triumph.
I am Reid Murray.
For my wife and my brothers-in-arms, nothing, not even darkness, will stop the Sparrows from victory.

Twisty and mystifying, Dark, the second book in the Dangerous Web series, continued on with Reid and Lorna’s story. The unexpected twists and turns kept me on the edge of the seat the whole time. My heart ached for the Lorna and my heart broke when she bared the horrific experience that she had buried for so long without ever mentioning it to anyone. Reid was supportive and I loved him for that. More secrets surfaced as the story went on and the shocking cliff hanger left me wanting more. I cannot wait to see where the story will go and to reveal all of the truths.
I volunteered to provide an honest review of an advance complimentary copy of this book.
The plot is really thickening now!!!
OOH! The suspense, the mystery, all the secrets being slowly revealed and the twists and turns in each chapter kept me up late at night in order to find out what the hell was going on. I was sitting on pins and needles the whole way through. There were just so many shocking moments that made my jaw drop and had me in tears. Reid and Lorna’s story has put me through the ringer!
Dark is a phenomenal book but like its title, it is DARK and probably contains some of the darker parts of the overall story. Be completely ready to delve into the darkness because this one goes down deep and sheds light on some very sensitive topics that are necessary for the overall story.
I love all of the main characters in this story. The passion and love felt between them oozed off the pages and at times was very explosive. They are all so supportive of one another and will do anything to protect this family unit that they have made together.
The secrets being revealed are only little bits of the story so far. What they reveal will have you grasping at your kindle tightly. But there are still unanswered questions that need to be uncovered in order for us to finally have the perfect ending. I had my guesses and suspicions on how this story could end but then BAM another amazing cliffhanger ending leaving me gasping for breath.
After that breathtaking ending, I can’t wait to see where Reid and Lorna’s story goes and if all the mysteries will be revealed.
Absolutely brilliant… I really can’t get enough of these characters. The story is gripping and twisted. I have no idea where this story is going and who is responsible for all the events that have happened so far.
What truly comes through is how much each of these men put their woman first. Everything they do is for them. They continually strive to keep them safe and will avenge anyone that threatens them. The powerful relationship between Reid and Lorna is encompassing, is love to have a man like Reid of my very own.
We also get to see a little more of Lorna’s past and the harrowing childhood she endured. Arrrrgggghhhh so many shockers coming through into the present day. This author knows how to hold an audience captive !
Aleatha Romig keeps riddling me with anxiety but I loved every second of Dark!! This second book in the Dangerous Web trilogy was deep in dark emotion and of course the ending was an explosive cliff hanger. There was so much more to learn about Lorna in this book. The mystery of the present and the slow unveiling of the past makes for an intense and delicate time for Lorna and Reid. My heart broke at times but I was also proud to see her be strong and resilient.
This book picks up right where Dusk ended. There are still so many questions that need answers and the Sparrow men will stop at nothing to avenge their women. I do love how all the men love their wives.
I can not fathom how this author is gonna wrap everything in the next book!! There is so much to learn and understand and I am waiting on baited breathe for the last book. What I do know is that this author is amazing at wrapping up her series with twists and turns that are expected and very unexpected. There is nothing better than being Aleatha’d!!
This picks up right where Dusk ended and we get insight into how Lorna was raised and to say it was dark and twisted would be a massive understatement. She suffered so much that it was tragic. The rollercoaster and twists and turns keep coming in this one and I’m already anticipating the next one
Have you been Aleatha’?
That is quickly becoming my mantra when I open a story by this amazing author.
Before turning the first page I am guaranteed unending intrigue. Also, unsuspecting heroes that get thrust into situations that highlight their skills and their might. And I know I am going to love the passion that counters the angst within all the players.
Dark by Aleatha Romig is book 2 of the Dangerous Web series and continues the story of Reid and Lorna. As though I was not already hooked with Dusk (Book 1), the way this lady never missed a step in weaving even more mystery into the continuation is unbelievable. If I thought there would be some clarity presented to ease me forward, I was sadly mistaken. Actually, there were more roadblocks thrown up. No one can prepare for what our heroes are presented with. But Sparrow men and their women do what they do best… use the skills they each have to succeed.
Don’t go thinking Aleatha softened the punches thrown in this chapter. She did not. If anything, she highlighted what makes each person so much more valuable to the whole unit. And she spotlights unanswered questions from the past that are brought to the current.
But then, she left me hanging like that carrot in front of that mule…but the mule is only laughing at me.
To say I am looking forward to book 3 is an understatement. Dark only wet my appetite more and left me with a firm answer to my initial question… Have you been Aleatha’?
What do you think? All the stars Aleatha Romig as I dangle for book 3!
I absolutely LOVE this book. I have been addicted to the Sparrow world since the first book was released. This book is probably my favorite one in the series so far! It is so intense on an emotional level I couldn’t stop reading. I really don’t want to see the end of the Sparrow series but I can’t wait for the last book to come out!!
Take a walk on this dark, twisted path filled with secrets, lies, danger, and devastation. The once secure world of the Sparrows has been shattered, everything upended. There is a thirst for vengeance and Sparrows will not be denied.
We continue on this dark path looking for answers. The search is on for the culprits. Some unimaginable things come to light but we still have questions left unanswered. There are more heartbreak, tragedy, and devastation waiting around the corner. We see Reid’s unwavering dedication, passion, and commitment to Lorna. We witness Lorna’s struggle to overcome the ordeal she went through. Will Reid’s support be enough to pull her through, or will his thirst for vengeance prove to be the ultimate price they’ll both pay?
Hold on to the edge of your seats! This book is intense, raw, and gritty with heart-pounding action. Dark ends in another cliffhanger that rivals the first one. My heart was in my throat! I can’t wait to see what happens in the conclusion to this gripping series. This is not a standalone. You must read the first book, Dusk, in order to understand what is going on in Dark.

Dark is the second installment in the Dangerous Web trilogy by Aleatha Romig. This is a continuation trilogy, so you must read Dusk prior to Dark, and then follow up with Dawn for the conclusion.
Dark picks up right where Dusk leaves off. And given that insane cliffhanger Aleatha left us on, I’m quite glad! And then with how she ended us this time around…I am DYING for Dawn. I need it like right the F NOW!!!
Dark is definitely very aptly named. I won’t say too much, but there are some scenes that are very trigger-warning worthy, but they help to enhance the story being told and give more of an understanding as to what Lorna is dealing with, or more accurately attempting to deal with.
Reid is absolutely FAN-TAS-TIC!! I am in love with Reid! I think he may have taken the top spot for the men in this whole world that Aleatha has written. His love for Lorna is unmistakable (is that even a word, lol?). I think I’ve said before in previous reviews that each of the men in this world love their women with everything they have. They protect them with everything they have. And I NEVER doubted for one second that Reid would be any different.
And Lorna…O M Goodness…I love her, too. Given what she has gone through, is going through, and what I venture to guess will be going through in the next installment…I am undoubtedly in awe of her. I will simply leave it at that.
Aleatha likes to kill us with her cliffhangers, and she undoubtedly does this again…as I say above, I am absolutely DYING for Dawn to come out!
Dangerous Web is the 4th trilogy in the Sparrow Webs world that Aleatha has built. It is Chicago King mafia. Each trilogy is it’s own and they can all be read in any order. Given character crossover, as you see a lot of each character in each trilogy, as well as relationship developments, I recommend reading them in the order in which they were released.
Man, my heart and soul were a mess after reading this book. Although this is the second book in this trilogy, it sure didn’t lack for drama, suspense and intrigue. Lorna is such a sweet, troubled soul that I was already in love with through other books, but this series focusing on Reid and Lorna has really brought them both to life. I really enjoyed this and can’t wait for the final book! I vountarily reveiwed this after received a free copy.
I am absolutely in love with this second book of the Dangerous Web trilogy. I have been waiting for Reid’s and Lorna’s story and I am not disappointed. In this installment, the Sparrow team is out to uncover secrets and starts where Dusk left off. This book has a lot of twist, turns, and is completely intense. I definitely recommend this suspenseful series and cannot wait for the 3rd book.
Dark (Sparrow Webs # 11, Dangerous Web # 2) by Aleatha Romig. Now that Lorna is home, Reid wants retribution. He and Mason are determined to find out
who kidnapped them and why. When they find out who is responsible heads will roll. While trying to track down the culprits, Reid has to deal with the wellbeing of his wife. Reid and Mason also have to do deal with the new fact that have been revealed. This story was like picking up bread crumbs trying to get to the end. I am truly hooked waiting to find out the results of everything that is going on in this story. Still not feeling the kidnapping, I think I am struggling with the why of it all. Knowing this author, I am sure once all has been revealed I will be more than satisfied. What has been revealed as a result of the kidnapping has made this story really exciting. The ending of this book was also an oh my moment that has me waiting for the final book. Bring it on!!!! I am so looking forward to it. This book was 4.5 stars for me.
Wow! The twist and turns continue. Dark picks right up where Dusk leaves off and we get so much more of Lorna’s past. Gosh…it’s such a heartbreaking past too. One that I wasn’t prepared for, but Reid’s love for her is off the charts good. I loved their love for each other. This romantic suspense kept those pages turning and kept me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end. Can’t wait for the final book.
Happy Reading Everyone!!!
4.5 Stars
We jump back in where we left off in Dusk with the Sparrow men wanting revenge for the kidnapping and pain this has all caused for their family. But that is not the only fire in the Sparrow world right now.
As Lorna begins her journey of returned memories, the events of the kidnapping seem to be bringing back other horrible memories that she has hidden so deep that she hasn’t remembered in years. A sad and tainted childhood for a young girl that will do anything right or wrong to keep her siblings safe. These memories are causing her to dig deep and fight harder for her life back.
Reid is standing strong by her side every step of the way. Determined to be the rock that his wife needs right now. Determined to make the people that have hurt her pay. Astounded by his wife’s strength and fight.
The twists and turns, an added dimension as her past is revealed. I fear that the past is mixing with the future and there is so much more to learn still. The strength and depth of family these men and their wives have is so unique. I feel my words never do the story enough justice. It really is a must read to understand. Impatiently waiting for the conclusion, will we get all the answers?

Dark by Aleatha Romig was a twisted web of drama, action, passion and love. This story was such a beautifully layered romantic supense experience. Reid and Lorna was everything.
Lorna has been rescued in bruised, battered and abused condition after the kidnapping. Her mind is fractured. The trauma and the drug has muddied her memory and the past is rearing its ugly head to torture her more. Reid cannot let it happen. As his friends fight to find out who is challenging the Sparrows, he has one whole another kind of battle in his home.
This story is the second book of the trilogy. And so a large part of the story was about Sparrows, the most powerful outfit and their inner workings as they try to solve the puzzle. My heart breaks for Lorna. Such a beautiful, strong, loving and independent woman and she is coming undone by monsters in her mind. Reid is the most perfect man. Unbearably soft and sweet and overprotective when he takes care of Lorna. And ruthless and violent when taking down people who are trying to hurt his wife and his family. Lorna and Reid has such a strong connection. Reid understands what she needs all the time. I could feel his pain to see Lorna suffering. Lorna was so brave and fierce but all humans have limits. They are not easy. They are explosive and intense. The story has twists and turns in plenty. And of course the author left me with a cliffy. A bad one.
I am fascinated and obsessed with everything Aleatha Roming writes in Sparrow world. Dark is no exception. This story is a brilliant combination of action and romance.
I reviewed an early copy voluntarily
What I love about this series is its connection to Sparrow’s world. While I have enjoyed each series, I think my two favourites have been the first series and this one. The former because it was the introduction of Sparrow’s world and this one because all the characters have been introduced and it builds on from the others. The three previous series are interconnected and interweave into each other creating a richer and complex world in this collection of stories.
In this installment, Aleatha has shown the significance of memories. Even though a person suppresses a memory, it doesn’t mean that it will stay forgotten. The past has a way of returning and it is important to have people around you to support you through it. Lorna will need this especially when you see the flashbacks of her life. She’s had to be strong for so much of her life that it is wonderful that Reid is there to be a pillar of strength for her. Plus she has the other females to rally around her. That doesn’t mean she isn’t strong. Far from it. She is a resilient woman who thinks about others and makes sacrifices for those she loves. For Reid, it seems that the world is darkening around him and Lorna is the only light in his life. It looks like there are multiple entities at play but I’m still uncertain as to their end game. Aleatha leaves us on a cliffhanger and I can’t help but be a little apprehensive on how all of this will pan out. It will be difficult to wait for Dawn but I’m sure all the answers will be contained within its pages.
Dark — book 2 Dangerous WEB by Aleatha Romig
As I dive into the depths of darkness a darkness I have been waiting for to find out more of what is happening? why did it happen ? and now what happens next ?
Skilfully written taking the reader on an incredible journey one that started long ago and is not finished yet.
More lies and deception added with memories are they truth or lies ?
Lorna is such an outstanding woman , strong , courageous with bravery worn as a badge of honour .
Reed , well , I think we would all love a Reed in our lives , he will do anything for Lorna , she is his life …
What he finds isn’t for the faint hearted , how he deals with the problem ,Brings in the clean up guys !
Such a fascinating series , one that is addictive once you start you cannot put the kindle down ..
Its extremely interesting seeing the personalities of the “ Sparrow “ women .
Another wonderful book from Aleatha with such weaving in and out of situations more than five stars , much more.
Oh, the feeling of being Aleath’d again! If I thought the ending of Dusk was cliff-hangy…well, I was not prepared for this one. I have come to quite like all the Sparrow characters. They are all so unique. Although we have seen the interactions with Lorna and Reid, they were always periphery. This trilogy diving into their relationship, how they interact, their pasts, and their love is so rich. Adding in the suspense factor and the Sovereign Order–it only gets better.
The mystery is still rolling along, but now the danger has been turned up on high. What is going to happen next? How will Lorna handle this unexpected and frightening occurrence? Are they going to be able to keep Mason controlled—he’s going to be furious. And let’s not even get into what Sparrow and Patrick’s reactions are going to be. You know they always say it’s darkest before the Dawn. I think all the Sparrows are ready for Dawn.
The Dark can be a scary place whether it is part of your past or present, a location or in your mind. Get ready because this story continues right from where Dusk ended and WOW, you are in for one hell of a ride as the Sparrow crew work on getting the answers to so many questions. And yes, we are all going to have to wait until the next book in the trilogy to finally see how the dangerous web unravels!
I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie’s Book Reports.

Before you read Dark you have to read Dusk or you are going to be lost. This book picks up right where Dusk left off too and you will get some answers and come up with new questions as to what exactly the heck is actually going on. Mason and Lorna learn some secrets they have been searching for answers too. I am so in love with Lorna and Reid I can’ even explain to you how much I am loving them. He is so there for her for everything that she is going through and I so loved that about them You will get secrets revealed to you and you will end up with more questions I can’ wait to discover where Dawn is going to take us. I don’t want to give anything away about these books and I am so terrified that I will. If you love your books dark and twisted you don’t want to miss any of the book is this Sparrow World.
