Richard and his brother run a ranch in Oklahoma after their parents are struck down with thyroid! Little does Richard know of his brothers hatred and contempt for him especially when Richard seeks a mail order bride! When Louise visits Jacob is stunned that she is beautiful and charming and not the toothless hag he expected. He is even more infuriated when he sees her and his brother have an immediate attraction! Louise also has a jealous and hateful sister, Luanne who has come along as a chaperone!
When Richard has an accident that leaves him paralyzed his brother is thrilled and tries to steal Louise from him but Louise is having none of it.
This was a really good story about families and sibling dysfunction! The grass may look greener on the other side of the fence until u are over there. That is a hard lesson that Jacob has to learn! There is plenty of drama and hope as Richard does his best to heal! I really enjoyed this book and the tension between not sets of siblings and even more when they finally worked out their problems! I recommend this book and this author for western romance! She is the best!
I really enjoyed reading this book! It is a little different than most mail-order bride books. There is also a rivalry between the two brothers on top of the bride thing. I recommend this book to romance readers!
Louise is engaging and believes Richard to be the answer to her opportunity for a good marriage. Richard wants a clever woman and Louise is as clever as they come. Although, a tragedy strikes this family, Louise never gives up hope and seeks ways to help Richard. Richard’s brother is a jealous creature and tries to steal Louise from Richard. The courage that Louise shows as she stands by and for Richard, even as Richard tries to push her away is a testament to the strength of character and an action of love that leads both of them to falling in love with each other.
The great character and storyline development kept me totally engaged throughout the entire book!
Louise travels to Oklahoma to meet Richard, the man with whom she’s been corresponding. Their hope is that their relationship will develop into a courtship and marriage. Her older sister travels with her as chaperone. Louise and Richard hit it off beautifully. However, tragedy strikes and everything changes.
This story drove me crazy because of the volatility of emotions surrounding the characters. Two characters were so nasty and cruel that I found myself shocked at their words. All the characters were real and relatable. The storyline is great and moves at a good pace. If you like historical western romance, I think you’ll enjoy this book.
On a personal note, I’m sad that the author has opted to join others in the practice of manipulating readers into giving their email address to read the entire story. If I purchase a book, I should get it in its entirety, and not have to buy the epilogue with my email address. In the future I intend to start deducting a star each time I have to do it.
Richard and Jacob were lone ranchers until the day Richard decided to put out an ad for a mail order bride. Louise was tired of being stifled from learning what she wanted and decided to write Richard. She wanted a change in her life. Beautifully written storyline with characters you can’t help but fall in love with!
Enjoyed this book. Great characters and interesting interaction among them. Richard really has a lot to deal with in this story. Jacob must come to terms with his jealousy of Richard. Louise actually seems to good to be true.
I received a free copy of this book and this is my voluntary, honest review.
Loved this sweet mail order bride story. Louis is from Louisiana. She is traveling to Oklahoma to meet Richard, her intended. Her father finally consents to let her go meet Richard, if she brings her older sister. They arrive just before the winter snows fly. When out riding horses, there is an accident. Richard’s brother also wants Louis, because of her beauty. He tries to take Louis away from Richard. Both girls have never seen snow before, and their small Oklahoma town isn’t anything like their home in Louisiana. Can Louis and Richard overcome their trials and learn to love each other? Are there miracles in store for all of the characters? There are life lessons that we all need to learn like forgiveness and second chances. I highly recommend this book and author! Happy Reading!
