There’s a fine line between love and hate, and it’s about to be set on fire.Brix Ward is a Grade A prick. He’s arrogant, spoiled, and self-centered. As the lead singer of A Rebels Havoc, he’s used to women falling over themselves for a chance to tame the wild bad boy.Except for me.I still remember the boy I grew up with. The one who went out of his way to make my life a living hell. I did my best … way to make my life a living hell. I did my best to avoid him at all costs.
Imagine my surprise when our parents announced they had eloped, then left me to live with my new stepbrother. Alone.
Now, no matter what I do, there’s no escaping him. He’s always there, tempting me, provoking me. Every moment of every day. The more we’re around each other, the more the heat between us begins to rise.
If he thinks he can hurt me again, he’s dead wrong.
I won’t let him be the one to destroy me, even if it breaks my heart.
Author’s Note: This is Book One in the A Rebels Havoc series. It can be read as a standalone and has a HEA. Due to strong sexual content, coarse language and mature subject matter, this book is not suitable for under the age of 18.

Brix is a stepbrother/enemies to lovers that I absolutely loved reading. Ivy and Brix hate each other so much that they literally burn hot for each other. I’m excited for what this author has in store next.
4.5 stars what a fantastic read I could not get enough!! Brix is the guy you love to hate… arrogant, hot and when he’s not being an arse, very very charming! Ivy and his chemistry is undeniable as much as they try to resist whenever they’re around each other the sparks fly. The story line was interesting their love/hate relationship was so fiery at the start it kept the book highly entertaining, I totally devoured this book in one sitting as I couldn’t put it down. I totally recommend this author and this series I can’t wait to read what happens next, looking forward to more stories!
Brix is an incredibly unique story that grabbed me from the first page! This forbidden stepbrother romance just ticks off all the boxes for me! A sassy heroine who gives just as good as she gets and a sexy a$$hole of a stepbrother who isn’t exactly as intimidating as he seems.
I fell head over heels for Ivy and Brix! Their banter, chemistry that jumps off the pages and the sexiness that these two characters brought to the table was outstanding. The drama and angst between Ivy and Brix was just the perfect amount and it consumed my afternoon! Add in a perfect HEA and bonus epilogue and I have to tell you that I honestly could not put this book down <3
I definitely think that Brooke O’Brien has stepped up her game with Brix and it shows! Brix & Ivy rocked my world and I've found a new book boyfriend in Brix <3 This is honestly my favorite book from this author and I cannot wait to get more of A Rebels Havoc!
Brix, Brix, Brix! Omg Brix! Brooke O’Brien you have outdone yourself on this steamy. This book is on my top reads of 2020!!! Books like this excite me and make me sweat. You have to read it and experience Brix for yourself!
Brix and Ivy, two people who are so opposite each other and yet so great together. This story is a little taboo, a lot hot and about second chances. Ivy is a strong level headed girl who gets straight A’s and values everything she has. Summer break is here and decides to go home with her mom to save some money before the new school year. Once Ivy’s back and meets with her best friend Kyla she runs into the one person who she never wanted to see again, Brix. Brix, the heartthrob, the lead singer of A Rebel’s Havoc and can get any girl he wants. But he meets his match when Ivy comes back. These two firecrackers are both in for a rude awakening when they find out they’re now step siblings.
I love how these two changed throughout the story till the end. I was so mad at one point that I’m almost threw my iPad out the window!! This story put me through the ringer because I was rooting for Brix from the beginning. This story is a must read and I can’t wait to read more by this incredible author Brooke O’Brien!!
Brix was everything I was expecting and more! Brooke really outdid herself with this and I am so happy to read another of her books. I can’t wait to see how the rest of the A Rebel’s Havoc series turns out!
I LOVED THIS BOOK!! Enemies-to-lovers is one of my favorite tropes. I love the drama and the sexual tension that comes with it and this book had plenty of both! (And the dirty talking bad boy…I loved him too 🙂
Ivy comes home from college hoping to spend time with her single mom and her best friend and earn some money over the summer break from college. The first night she’s home she runs into Brix, the boy that made high school hell for her. He’s always been a jerk to her and thus she’s always hated him.
Ivy and Brix are in for a surprise though; it turns out there parents have eloped and they are now stepbrother/stepsister. Brix hasn’t changed; he still pushes her buttons any chance he gets and as much as she tries to fight it, it’s starting to wear her down.
These two characters were the best whether they were fighting or having sexy times (and HOLY COW, WERE THERE A LOT OF SEXY TIMES!!!) and it was such a fun read! I couldn’t put this book down and read it in 1 day. I needed to know what was going to happen and I knew there was drama to come and it moved the story along really well.
This book also set up a romance for another couple, so I will definitely be looking for that when it comes out. A really great start to this series!
Rockstar and forbidden romances are two of my favorite tropes and this book has both! This novel is a fast-paced, enjoyable read that contains the perfect combination of sweetness mixed with some scorching scenes and a smattering of drama. Told from a dual POV, this standalone novel tells the story of Brix and Ivy.
Ivy is a very likable heroine in that she is a hard working college student who rocks some sass and possesses a big heart. She is the type of girl that I would love to have as a friend. As for Brix, I couldn’t help but love him. He is the gorgeous, self assured lead singer of a popular local band, A Rebels Havoc and is accustomed to getting any girl he wants except for Ivy. She still harbors a great deal of animosity towards him, but their chemistry is undeniable. The two make an unlikely, but perfect pair and I found their journey to be entertaining.
The bully element in this book is relatively light. Brix did torment Ivy when they were in high school, but the bullying does not occur in the present. Yet, for Ivy, the wounds delivered from his bullying are still open and trust is hard earned. This author does a stellar job with character development, especially with Brix and I really like how she portrayed the evolution of their relationship. This is my first book by this author and I am looking forward to reading more of her works.
The first book in the A Rebels Havoc series will have you fan girling over the band and in particular the lead singer Brix. As the stage light hits centre stage, Brix will have your heart pounding and your heart racing. An enemies to lovers romance that will serenade your heart and have you at times torn between loving and hating this cocky Rockstar. As Ivy starts to peel the layers back on Brix’s hard exterior she begins to see there is more to the tattooed Rockstar than just the hurtful words that he spits in her direction. A love story that rocks you to the core with passion, steam, chemistry and heartfelt moments. Their story is about growth, acceptance and finding that person that is the beat to not only your heart but your soul.
As soon as I read the blurb for Brix, the first book in the new series, A Rebel’s Havoc, by Brooke O’Brien, I knew I wanted to read it. Brix Ward had tormented Ivy for years in high school and she hated him. And now he was her step-brother and she was living with him and their parents for the summer. She was determined to avoid him at all cost. But he was everywhere she was.
Ivy is putting herself through college and the last thing she expected was the boy, who was now all man, who had tormented her for years, be her new roommate. He was cocky, determined and yet he drew her in ways she wanted to avoid. For Brix, Ivy was all woman now and he wanted to do things to her he should not be thinking about. As they begin to spend time together, she begins to see a different side of him. Could she trust him? But she was not the same person she was before. She gave as good as she got. She was full of sass, sweet and smart.
Brix by Brooke O’Brien was an angst-filled, emotional and captivating read. The characters will draw you in and their journey will keep you riveted. I loved the story and cannot wait for more from the series!
Read and reviewed for Sultry Sirens Book Blog.
Happy reading!
Brix and Ivy’s story was a little bit bully mixed with budding rockstar with a whole load of passion. I really enjoyed this book Brix is everything I love in a book boyfriend. He can be a total dick but we also see flashes of a tender sweet side that made me fall for him. Often books in this genre don’t have much depth to them but this has a story running in the background that not only explains some of his attitude but give that something extra to the book. I enjoyed the relationship that Ivy and Brix had even before they became involved romantically. This was a quick read for me but an enjoyable one.
This is the 1st in a new series and this talented author had done an amazing job in penning this tale. Ivy is back in town for the summer and all she wants to do is avoid Brix who is the bad boy, lead singer of “Rebel’s Havoc”, as he tormented her when they were younger. Problem being they are now stepsiblings as their parents eloped, but this does not stop the sparks from flying between them. This is a well written story which had me totally hooked and intrigued throughout this addictive page turner, and I highly recommend for all.
I don’t even know where to start…
Holy hotness, Batman!
Ivy and Brix are freaking epic.
They had me fanning myself, smiling like an idiot and devouring the bonus epilogue like an addict.
Before writing this review I immediately added the other two books to my tbr list. I want more of this goodness- no scratch that. I NEED more of this goodness.
A captivating, easy read with a healthy dose of swoon.
This is my first book read by this author and won’t be my last one. This 5 star story had me reading none stop.
Brix is an A*&^%le. He’s a lead singer and women fall at his feet. His father just remarried and his new wife’s daughter just came back for the summer. It’s all forbidden in a way. Sparks will fly.
This story was full of sparks and highly entertaining. There was never a dull moment. It has a feel of forbidden even if I don’t think so. Bottomline this is a must read.
Standalone for now with a dual POV with an HEA. I highly recommend this story.
4.5 Stars
Brix Ward is the lead singer of A Rebels Havoc and a womanizer who is as self centered and arrogant as they come. He has never been turned down by a woman until her.
Ivyana Thomas was raised by her single mom, Charlene, and has been attending Tarheel College but has come home from the summer to discover that her mom is engaged to a man named Jasper and living with him.
Yet nothing surprises her more to discover that her mom has married Brix Ward’s dad. Brix tormented Ivy through school and she has never forgiven him for the things he used to do and say to her. Now as their parents travel together, Brix and Ivy must live together and deal with all of the tension between them.
Ivy has promised herself that she is going to do everything she can to protect her heart but how far will Brix go to break it?
This was such a great book and I enjoyed it from start to finish!!
Brix was such a great character to hate at the beginning of the book. You knew he was cruel to Ivy and he had a plan to break her. I was surprised at how much freedom he had but it was apparent that his dad was never really there for him. Brix was definitely not used to hearing the word no and before he recognized Ivy he had no clue how she could turn him down.
Ivy was awesome right from the beginning and I was happy that she had her friendship with Kyla when she got back to town. She was smart and knew that Brix would do anything he could to upset her and get on her nerves so she was ready for that but she was just doing what she could because of her mom.
Brix was such a jerk at the Summer Festival and I was so mad at the things he said to Ivy when Trevor was there. I could tell he was trying to get to her and I was so mad! I must admit that I was a little mad at Ivy when she finally gave in but at the same time I could tell that there were two sides to Brix and the nice one was starting to come out.
When we learn about Brix’s mom things begin to fall into place with why he is the way he is. He had his walls built up and is afraid of what he could turn into and also he was ashamed of his mom’s struggles. When he opens up to Ivy it seems to life Brix up and allows him to turn a page in his own life.
Things begin to look great for Brix and Ivy but at the same time you know that there is still something out there that can wreck everything and sure enough it comes out at full force! I was surprised at the initial events but then I realized what Ivy had done and I was super proud of her!
I was happy that Brix opened up to his mom about what happened and how he planned to figure things out in a big way! That was awesome and I loved the way everything turned out! – By Rebecca
First book by Brooke O’Brien, and I would love to read the rest of the series. I enjoyed Brix and Ivy’s story, where a stepbrother is a new rockstar and she is the college student. It was a sweet but angsty story at first, the end is so good, romantic and sweet. I will be reading more from this author and I hope to find stories from the characters portrayed in this book as I really liked them.
Brooke O’Brien is a new to me author and I am addicted to her writing! Brix is the first book of an all new series and it starts off with a bang.
Brix is the perfect mix of stepbrother romance, Rockstar romance and bully romance. It was everything I never knew I needed in my life. I got some Kellen Kyle Thoughtless vibes from this story.
I loved the chemistry between Brix and Ivy. They have a history, though it is not a good one (which is where the bully romance comes in). However, that’s the past and their future is something different, especially now that they are stepsiblings. I couldn’t put this book down. I was completely sucked into their relationship and their story.
Brix was sweet, romantic and holy hotness he was kicking up the heat! Ivy isn’t the weak little girl from Brix’s past, she is strong and I love her sassy attitude. Their relationship was full of ups and downs from the start. Their relationship is messy, taboo and they don’t care what anyone says about it. They are perfect for each other; they bring out the best in each other and support each other in every aspect.
I can’t wait for more of this series and to see the secondary characters grow, plus I am excited for more Brix and Ivy!
Brix is a MUST READ and one of my TOP READS of 2020.
This is my first book by Brooke and I wasn’t sure what to expect. But Brix and Ivy were just awesome. I went into it thinking “I don’t like weird stepbrother books”, but I stuck it out, and man… this book rocked.
