From the internationally bestselling author of Sarah comes the riveting story of the remarkable woman who walked beside Moses. Although she is a Cushite by birth—one of the people of the lands to the south—Zipporah grew up as the beloved daughter of Jethro, high priest and sage of the Midianites. But the color of Zipporah’s skin sets her apart, making her an outsider to the men of her adopted … of her adopted tribe, who do not want her as a wife. Then one day while drawing water from a well, she meets a handsome young stranger. Like her, he is an outsider. A Hebrew raised in the house of the Egyptian Pharaoh, Moses is a fugitive, forced to flee his homeland. Zipporah realizes that this man will be the husband and partner she never thought she would have.
Moses wants nothing more than a peaceful life with the Midianites, but Zipporah won’t let Moses forget his past—or turn away from his true destiny.
She refuses to marry him until he returns to Egypt to free his people. When God reveals himself to Moses in a burning bush, his words echo Zipporah’s, and Moses returns to Egypt with his passionate and generous wife by his side.
A woman ahead of her time, Zipporah leaps from the pages of this remarkable novel. Bold, independent, and a true survivor, she is a captivating heroine, and her world of deserts, temples, and ancient wonders is a fitting backdrop to an epic tale.

Poorly researched
The story of the biblical Moses told from the viewpoint of a woman, his beloved wife, here portrayed as black skinned and shunned by her relatives. Rich and believable while true to scripture.
biblically inaccurate to the point the fictional depiction of the story couldn’t be enjoyed
I was familiar with the name of Moses wife from the Bible, but this was an interesting story and I could see how it followed the Bible as a basis until the Children of Israel left Egypt. The ending was interesting but disturbing because it could have happened this way. It is sad that history has taught us the people forget what someone has done …
It made me turn to the Bible to find out how much is mentioned in the Bible.
Inspectional
Great retelling of biblical story of the exodus from a women’s perspective. Nice portrait of an important but nearly ignored biblical(historic) person.
A different take on a biblical event. I learned some things I didn’t know and understood Moses’ story from a more human standpoint. Not the greatest book i’ve ever read, but not the worst either.
I will follow this author. Great read. Makes the Bible easier to understand with today’s language. I pray he authors more about the women of the Bible. You have a gift.
I truly enjoyed it. Wrote a review already
Enjoyable read, though Scripturally inaccurate at times . Characters read as real and very human.
Moved too slowly
Biblical history – I was unaware of Zipporah.
Zipporah, a beautiful woman, inside and out, doesn’t realize her own worth in a time when women were so needed but not necessarily appreciated. Moses however sees so much in this splendid incredible woman who is very ahead of her time.
This book is not in any way biblical. The author gives Zipporah all the credit for Moses accomplishment. I found it offensive..
Made you know how it was in biblical times. Very good read
I am always fascinated by the artistic and creative ability needed to provide a day to day look at an established Biblical story. It is a wonderful thing to feel part of the emotions and thoughts that might have taken place for those events to happen. A compelling read.
I am aware of the fact that this is fictionalized bible history but I loved it. It follows of what we know of Moses and his wife Zipporah but fleshes it out and fits the historical path of Moses.
For bible history the author was very accurate..n informative on local traditions..
Another world, another time. Zipporah’s sons did not not die as stated but otherwise accurate and informative
