A missing Creator. An army of mechanical zombies. And a devastating secret that will destroy everything. Adal, Arija and the rest of their team are happy to be back home in the World Machine. But before they can get comfortable, things start to heat back up between the Dwellers that live in the Machine and those that would see it destroyed. Webley is the only one who can quell the buzz of war, … the buzz of war, but the Creator has gone missing.
That’s when the screaming starts.
Reports of a masked creature spread like the plague. Then a virus breaks out in the Machine. A virus that turns the Dwellers into Zombies. Can the team unmask the doctor and find a cure before the virus destroys the world?

Yahoo! Another amazing Hall of Doors book!
Ypsilon and The Plague Doctor is an action-packed steampunk zombie science-fantasy. (Yeah, you read that right!) I can guarantee you’ve never read anything like this before.
I don’t know what goes on in Mr. Chopchinski’s head, but it seems to be a strange and terrifying place. The monsters he has created for the world machine remind me a bit of Night Watch/Day Watch in that it’s just a different kind of horror that you don’t typically see in an American written novel (Night Watch is, I believe, written by a native Russian).
It’s fun to follow characters that I now know pretty well through different landscapes and genres. I feel like the preceding book in the series, Arija and the Burning City raised the bar on the series and this one meets it head-on, taking you into a place of comfort (the world machine) and turning everything inside out and sideways.
Arija and Adal manage to stick together this time, but that’s the only real sense of comfort you’ll get. This is a twisty turny thrill ride and I can’t wait for the next one!
They are finally home hoping things will get better but there are problems there as well. There are two sides still fighting over the world, each group wants something different. Who will they join? Who will win? How will they win? Follow them to find out what will happen

Where do I start! This book was very busy. Unlike the others which had a few main story lines, this covered a lot of the characters and new ones and plots in plots. Webley is still missing. And all of a sudden the people of the machine are turning violent caused by a virus. And they don’t seem to die. They are killed and get right back up again, but who has set the virus in motion. Enter the Plaque Doctor, someone who hides behind a beaked mask. During all of this Kip is working on a prosthetic leg to replace Vans. After he gets it working pretty good the whole group heads out to see where the virus is being launched and as usual the fights and adventures begin. Most of them get separated into different areas and fight their way to get back to each other and to put an end to Pajak and the plaque doctor. But who is behind the mask is the biggest shock of all. Another great adventure for all in the World Machine . Look forward as always to more.
A mechanical zombie apocalypse led by evil Spider-man and a stranger with a beak…..if that sounds like something you would enjoy reading, then this book is for you!
This is the fourth book in the Hall of Doors series by Zachary Paul Chopchinski and each book just keeps getting better and better. I would advise that you read this series in order so that you know what has happened and can follow the story line.
My favorite kickass heroine, Ypsilon, is back and this time she is looking for answers as to her origins. The evil spidery villain, Pajak, has returned and has a companion called the Plague Doctor because of the beaked mask she wears. I always did think those things were creepy and this book just reinforces that notion.
Adal and Arija are trying to figure out their relationship while fighting off the Prowlers, who appear to be Dwellers that have turned into evil zombies. Now, if you aren’t intrigued by the concept of a steampunk/zombie fusion, then you probably won’t enjoy this book. But, if you love great world building, wonderful characters, loads of fast-paced action and tons of snark, give this series a try. You won’t be disappointed!
It is obvious that Mr. Chopchinski has plenty more in store for his readers from his wild imagination and I can’t wait to find out where he takes us next.
The most intense book of the series so far! There’s never a dull moment, and the now-expanded main cast is full of unique and well-written characters. The villains are great– insane and creepy in all the right ways– and, as always, the author’s imagination continues to surpass any expectations with his worldbuilding. With each installment, the Hall of Doors grows ever larger, and I can’t wait to see what’s next!
