I found this story compelling from beginning to end. A post apocalyptic tale swathed in Nephilim lore and unlike a lot of Angel/ demon type stories this was a refreshing and unique take. The character development of both Kali and Tiamen were both complimentary and far reaching. As Kali rises from mere human to something else, Tiamen’s infatuation with the human he was sent to destroy along with all other humans, giving a satisfying balance to the story. Full of action and generally very well paced I’m keen to read the next installment. One of my most favorite fantasy novels this year.
Amazing read. An amazing story line, intriguing characters and plot. I couldn’t fault it. Kept me gripped and wanting to read more. Cant wait for the rest of this series to he out. I want them all
A post-apocalyptic story with a strong female lead and a supernatural love. Fantastic writing and great character development and a view of the human psyche at its most tested. Would highly recommend.
I received a free copy of this book thru Voracious Readers. The story was totally unlike anything I’ve ever read. Very original, and while parts of it were intensely hard to read and unexpected, it kept pulling me back. I will definitely be getting the sequel. Don’t expect a touching, feel good story. This one is gritty, unnerving and will shake you to the core.
As a obsessor of all things ‘Angel’ and ‘Nephilim’, I literally could not put this book down.
It took me ONE day to read it, and I devoured it like my life depended on finishing the story.
As an Independent author, I can only praise Ms. Nevins for her attention to detail, and explanation when it came to the Nephilim, and the working biology of their bodies and wings.
Originally it was the blurb that caught my attention, specifically the word “nephilim.” But once I started reading it I couldn’t put it down. The action is nonstop from beginning to end. And Kali’s character is absolutely adorable. She’s spunky, capable, determined, and willing to do the right thing no matter the personal cost.
**I received a digital copy in exchange for a review**
This book is amazing. It has me with every little twist and turn.
Kali is just an ordinary girl and Tiamat is a Nephilim sent from god to destroy human kind to send them to judgement day. But Tiamat amd Kali fall for each other. This results in Tiamat trying to protect her in every way possible, even if it means being cold towards her so the other Nephilim won’t find out out Kali.
They go through their fair share of drama, trouble and betrayal. But that is what snot makes the book so good
A great concept – an army of half angels bringing about the end of the world, only for one of them to fall for, and save a human. The author has a vivid imagination and is a highly effective wordsmith, describing landscapes and action scenes with aplomb. Highly recommended – bring on book 2!
Post-apocalyptic twisted tale. A female lead trying to hate the destroyer and failing takes the reader on an unpredictable journey. Don’t feel you’ve got it figured out, you probably don’t. Read it and find out.
I love a good post apocalyptic love story. This was just that. It was wonderfully crafted to reveal a depth that not many authors can get right. the dark edge of the story keeps you on the edge of your seating wanting to know more in the dangerous world the leading characters find themselves in. I look forward to the next book in the series. There is so much creative depth in the building of this world. It wont disappoint you.
Neatly done. God is calling back his children to heaven. This is the death of human kind, and yet… in this post apocalyptic world there is still impossible love and beauty to be protected – something which turns out to shape (human) Kali and (Nephilim) Tiamat’s future into something neither of them could ever have believed possible, as they battle impossible odds, deadly viruses, hostile survivors, and antagonistic foes that play unknown games to suit their own desires. Overall, I enjoyed the twists and turns of this book. It is full of emotion and action. Kali is a great character with heaps of resilience and I really rooted for her to win through for both the humans and for Tiamat. An exciting cliff hanger left me keen to read on.
This is a great story.
Very well written with a script that keeps you on the end of your seat turning page after page, long after you should have gone to bed!
Great end of days novel, I really recommend it.
When I started reading this book, I wasn’t sure what to expect but I immediately loved the MC, Kali’s, personality. She’s witty and sarcastic so when she meets Tiamat, a strange and beautiful man, I was interested to see where the story would go. The next time she meets him is five years later, after he and his brothers have destroyed mankind and the Earth along with them.
From there, the action picked up quite nicely and the author’s writing style had both sweet moments as Kali tries to adjust to life as she now knows it. The book is powerful and will be a definite favorite for fans of paranormal romance along with dystopia.
