Thousands of them have lived underground. They’ve lived there so long, there are only legends about people living anywhere else. Such a life requires rules. Strict rules. There are things that must not be discussed. Like going outside. Never mention you might like going outside.Or you’ll get what you wish for. What the press is saying:Boing Boing’s Official Review: “This story is terrific. I was … “This story is terrific. I was completely immersed, watching Howey slowly paint a picture of a society gone wrong through the eyes and discovery of some truly compelling characters.”
Wired.com’s Official GeekDad Review: “Howey is among a growing list of authors who are making successful careers of publishing without the assistance of agents and traditional publishing houses. The traditional argument has been that if a book couldn’t find a publisher it probably wasn’t worth reading. However, just as iTunes changed how consumers found music and the way in which bands made their bread, ebook readers, and in particular the Kindle, are changing the ways in which authors find their readers and make a living. All of this means the old assumptions about indie books no longer hold true, and readers need to be prepared to adjust their expectations accordingly. The Wool Omnibus is a great book and deserves recognition as a full fledged contribution to the science fiction genre.”

Read the whole series!
I loved this book.
I picked this up right before bed thinking I’d just read a chapter or two, then finish it the next day…no. That is not at all what happened. I read the whole thing…and half of ‘Wool 2’. I went to sleep a little later than I intended, but it was definitely worth it.
This is an excellent little book and one that I absolutely recommend. I don’t see how it’s possible for anyone to be able to read this and not want to immediately pick up the next one. So glad I stumbled on this…it reminded me a bit of ‘The Giver’ which I first read 17 years ago in 9th grade, and is still one of my all-time favorite books.
I realize this series is geared more towards YA, but adults will have no trouble getting into the story. Curiosity is a human trait we all have, and I can’t imagine anyone not dying to know what exactly awaits Holston outside the Silo.
Great read!
Great dark post apocalyptic atmosphere, strong female character, excellent story
Great book great series, strong female role model.
I’m a fan of dystopian reads and Wool does not disappoint. The concept was different from so many other post-apocalyptic books and I’m glad I entered the series late — I was able to read all three books back to back.
I’ve read this omnibus three times now. i love reading others views of how humanity is going to do itself in and Hugh Howey definitely comes into his own originality with this one! the next two books, Shift and Dust are just as amazing. i’ve recommended these to so many people and offered it to my book club!
An interesting premise of life in the future. You’ll want to know how the silos came to be, who built them and how the residents made the rules that all must live by. The Silo series is easy to read, each novel being fairly short. An original story that dives deeper and deeper.
I read the whole series a while ago and it was very well done. A unique post apocalypse society
Excellent
This book was far better than I expected. Great storyline and real characters.
The Silo series was one of those rare (sets of) books that completely took me away to another world, with well-developed characters and believable plot line. Highly recommend this book and the subsequent volumes in the series.
It made me so claustrophobic that I abandoned it without finishing.
I live the Wool series!
This is one of the best books I’ve read in the post apocalyptic genre. Great characters and a truly original twist.
My favorite dystopian story. I couldn’t put it down and read the whole series. Amazing twists
Excellent read, page turner
Post-apocalyptic humans have built a life for themselves inside a buried missile silo. The world outside is uninhabitable, and they are alone. Or are they? Strong characters and a plot that keeps you wanting more are just two of the things I love about this story of the universal human search for truth.
I believe this author was positively influenced by one of my top favorite sci-fi writers, Octavia Butler, and Howley is in my top ten now.
