#1 NATIONAL BESTSELLERAt twenty-two, Cheryl Strayed thought she had lost everything. In the wake of her mother’s death, her family scattered and her own marriage was soon destroyed. Four years later, with nothing more to lose, she made the most impulsive decision of her life. With no experience or training, driven only by blind will, she would hike more than a thousand miles of the Pacific Crest … the Pacific Crest Trail from the Mojave Desert through California and Oregon to Washington State—and she would do it alone. Told with suspense and style, sparkling with warmth and humor, Wild powerfully captures the terrors and pleasures of one young woman forging ahead against all odds on a journey that maddened, strengthened, and ultimately healed her.
Oprah’s Book Club 2.0 selection: This special eBook edition of Cheryl Strayed’s national best seller, Wild, features exclusive content, including Oprah’s personal notes highlighted within the text, and a reading group guide.

What a way to blow up your life and find it again! Strayed makes questionable choices throughout the book, but I always understood her reasoning to come from deep-level grief. Highly recommend!
I enjoyed because I like to hike.
Even though I read Cheryl’s book a few years ago, I never forgot it. Now I listen to her podcast with Steve, her work-hubbies.
My review doesn’t capture the flavor of the book, but I remember the feeling I got reading it. That’s never left me and that counts for a lot.
grit and perseverance, faith and forgiveness
It was rather frustrating to see how many of Strayed trials could have been avoided with a little more planning and common sense, but it was also interesting to read.
Very interesting read. You follow her story having a lot of sympathy for her situation and what her grow and learn about who she really is in the process. Inspiring read if you are going through a hard time in life.
I loved this book! I could relate to the main character. We all have times where everything goes wrong, maybe not as bad as what she had, but wrong. Sometimes you have to make a big decision and do something you can’t imagine so you can reset your life and move forward. I suggest reading the book before you see the movie. There is some key info …
Hard to put down…made me want to go hike but don’t think it’d be safe!
I so enjoyed this memoir and her search for happiness after the loss of her beloved mother. She inspired me to tell my story.
I read this as part of a Book Club. None of us in the group liked it. We felt the main character was foolish and made dumb decisions. Don’t wasre your time.
I read this book some time ago and since reading all kinds of books in different genres, I’ve decided it remains one of my favorites. I don’t often read memoir, but I enjoyed this one. The main reason I liked it was that I could identify with the author’s story and it was inspirational. Achieving growth and trying to sort past hurts is not an easy …
This book made me cry so many times. I doubt I will ever hike the PCH, but it did make me want to do something like that (run a marathon, backpack across Europe…).
A good read. Without sounding too cliché, I preferred it to the movie.
Started strong, sagged about 2/3 of the way through. Just wanted it to be over.
Hard to read, jusy harrowing. A trial by fire. Very well written, btave and foolish all at once
I find it so encouraging that this book is a best seller. Beautifully and honestly written – Strayed is not afraid to let it all hang out – whether writing about her experiences on the PCT or the highly personal experiences in her life that propelled her on this challenging journey. Highly recommended.
I was annoyed by Cheryl. If she wasn’t a white, pretty young woman, she would have died on her journey.
Made me want to walk the PCT!
A fabulous true story of painful self reflection and an amazing voyage to a new soul. Fearless!
I chose this book as a monthly selection for my book club and everyone enjoyed it. Some could say the author was brave (and she was) others could say she was crazy for the chance she took, but in the end she triumphed. Very good story, very well told. She will, at times, have you on the edge of your seat. Excellent read.
