#1 NATIONAL BESTSELLERAt twenty-two, Cheryl Strayed thought she had lost everything. In the wake of her mother’s death, her family scattered and her own marriage was soon destroyed. Four years later, with nothing more to lose, she made the most impulsive decision of her life. With no experience or training, driven only by blind will, she would hike more than a thousand miles of the Pacific Crest … the Pacific Crest Trail from the Mojave Desert through California and Oregon to Washington State—and she would do it alone. Told with suspense and style, sparkling with warmth and humor, Wild powerfully captures the terrors and pleasures of one young woman forging ahead against all odds on a journey that maddened, strengthened, and ultimately healed her.

This was a very believable autobiography that was easy to relate to. The story flows well and keeps the reader engaged. This young woman was perhaps too fearless but had strength and bravery (if not naïveté) and survived to tell her tale. I wonder what her life is like today.
What would you do if you come from total dysfunction, have fallen into drugs and are clawing your way back? Cheryl Strayed hiked the John Muir Trail.
Very interesting! And true! I would recommend this book.
Loved this book! I really appreciated Strayed’s Unmitigated honesty.
Very well written!
I found this book disappointing. The main character did many stupid things on her journey. She’s lucky she didn’t get raped or killed.
wished i could have the courage, but not the tragedy, to follow through with such a tremendous journey…..
The movie is good but the book is everything! Read it and be inspired.
Saw the movie and then had to read the book. Young woman treks the Pacific Coast Trail alone. True story.
I’m continually impressed with Strayed honesty in her reflections of life, love, tragedy and maturity. An inspirational read!
True story…LOVE it
Since I live in California on the Pacific trail I found this accurate in details and moving to read
An amazing adventure!
This is one of my favorite books. I memoir of an inexperienced woman’s trek along the Pacific Coast Trail (PCT) from Mexico to Washington State. Truly adventurous and informative. Loved it.
This book made me laugh a lot and cry some. Cheryl does go on about her mother but her loss was the motivation for this hike, that I am surprised she actually survived.
book is better than the movie even though bother are 5 stars
Good book. I liked it. Learned a lot about the PCT.
Hoping that the catharsis i read brought peace.
The book is definitely better than the movie. However, the movie was fun to watch and loved Reese in it ! Being from the West coast I could totally relate to the PCT and all the various terrain and weather conditions she hiked thru.
The family relationships were often interesting, with her mother being a strong influence. If the story is an …
I thought it was okay, although it seemed self serving
