#1 NATIONAL BESTSELLERAt twenty-two, Cheryl Strayed thought she had lost everything. In the wake of her mother’s death, her family scattered and her own marriage was soon destroyed. Four years later, with nothing more to lose, she made the most impulsive decision of her life. With no experience or training, driven only by blind will, she would hike more than a thousand miles of the Pacific Crest … the Pacific Crest Trail from the Mojave Desert through California and Oregon to Washington State—and she would do it alone. Told with suspense and style, sparkling with warmth and humor, Wild powerfully captures the terrors and pleasures of one young woman forging ahead against all odds on a journey that maddened, strengthened, and ultimately healed her.

Great book about perseverance, courage and adventure!
Wonderful read. Good writing, stayed on task and enjoyed reading about the journey.
Not sure what the whole uproar was around this other than some malcontent walking the trail until she didn’t want to and then she didn’t; the whole thing was overwrought and boring with no obvious plot other than “I was not happy so I decided to hike unprepared so that I could then recount my catharsis in a book, waste of time
This whole book just made me plain angry. As somebody who regularly backpacked in the High Sierras, I found the author’s cavalier attitude toward tackling the PCT to be utterly appalling. Is it great to get away and be alone and challenge yourself in some way, especially when times are hard? Of course. But this was just irresponsible. The worst …
Great read for anyone contemplating a hike along the Pacific Crest trail
I liked following her adventure.
This memoir of a total rookie hiking the Pacific Crest Trail is entertaining, but not always believable.
I know this has been wildly popular, but I just didn’t like the author; she really irritated her and I couldn’t get behind her.
Remarkable story.
Crazy endeavor. Didn’t do much for me.
With determination anything is,possible
very personal view of life issues and learning from hiking and nature!
Not easy to be empathetic with this character.
Good true story
I liked the main character, and her gritty journey on the trail kept me reading. I was sorry to see it end!
I read this book because I’m interested in reading about journeys on the PCT. This book, and the movie that followed, are less about the PCT and more about the person’s journey. Unfortunately, the book and movie have led to overuse problems on this long trail and unrealistic expectations of some hiking it. I’m glad she grew from her hike along it, …
Inspirational book with insight into the author’s life. Enjoyed the descriptions of the Pacific Crest trail.
I enjoyed reading about the hiking but did not like some of the behavior .
I walked the Camino de Santiago and could relate to her adventure.
Very woman, either trying to find herself or wishing she were elsewhere, should read Wild. Moving and inspiring.
