Cinderella end was a let down.
Glad I read this book as this gave me an insight through historical Fiction of life in Egyptian times.
Great point of view story in a realistic situation for its time. Believable characters with strong interactions and really entertaining to read. Libbie Hawker does an amazing job writing about, what some people may consider a taboo subject, in a way that doesn’t sensationalize it. I’m very much looking forward to reading more from this author.
Well this was a terrific fantasy of palace intrigue with many secretive twists and turns that kept me on the edge of my chair. Not a book for those interested n true history, but a very good parable of ancient times.
Loved the book, but the editing was absolutely terrible and distracted from the book. There were misspelled words, syntax errors and extra words. I was disappointed with this aspect. i also read the 2nd book in the trilogy and found it to be much the same.
I didn’t like it at all. I expected a book about Egypt and the Pharaohs, but it was more about the life of a prostitute.
Well formed multi dimensional characters. Plot line made sense. Not a “happily ever after ” but not maudlin either.
Between missed words & misspellings I didnxt finish the book. According to the author, that was intentional. Definitely not my style.
It had good historical elements and I really loved some of the characters, as well as how it explored atypical views of sexuality-the world of an ancient Egyptian sex worker, I guess, but one on the higher end of such work. However, the exposition could be heavy handed and my favorite character was turned into a shallow bitch by the end of the book. So-so.
Learning about life in early times.
I enjoyed it enough to read the second book in the series, but was disappointed to be lead into a unfinished trilogy (wait until Nov 2017 for the last installlment),
After finishing this one I immediately ordered the second book. Can hardly wait to see what happens in the second book.
This book featured a great view of ancient egypt and the culture of women serving as “companions” or ladies for hire. It was interesting and well written!
Libby is one of my favorites. She transports you into their world. Love her books.
Interesting historical info but the end came up lame.
I really enjoyed both the story and the history. Very we done with characters that are both interesting and believable
Can’t wait to read more
Historical fiction with an excellent plot…
If you enjoy historic fiction and strong female characters, then you will love this book and its sequel, “Persian Blue”.
Interesting story …wish the last segment was completed….
Nice history wrapped around a girls rags to riches tale. Freshly told, a nice read overall. Enough to buy book 2
