I really enjoyed reading this book. This book deals with some particularly difficult issue and I feel as though the author has done them justice in this book. The storyline is really well written and the characters were very easy to get to know. The storyline flows really well and I am looking forward to see what else this author has to offer. Would definitely recommend this book to others.
“-In the mountains a dramatic fall is a given.
As sure as the river will rage and billowing winds will blow,
The forces of nature will sweep across the land, altering everything in its path.
Some warmly embrace the turn of the seasons,
While others cling to the past.
The guaranteed lies herein.
As hard as one may try to blind themselves to the destructions,
No one will escape the inevitable death that comes….
When fall breaks-“
This is the first book in the Seasons of Jefferson series by Julie Solano and Tracey Justice. I have not read anything by these two authors before and I was really impressed, so I will definitely check out more of their works. I normally have a difficult time connecting with young adult novels right away, but that was not the case here. This book is laced with some amazing life lessons that most people shy away from, especially when we need to focus on it the most. I will say this book does touch on substance and alcohol abuse, as well as domestic violence. I would recommend it for the older spectrum of teens, but feel that the authors have done such a great job it could be required reading, in my opinion. I loved how they dealt with each of these in a very gripping way, but with a lesson to be learned from their situations.
Kaitlyn, a senior at her high school, it is her last chance for a fun and young year without the stress of adulthood on her shoulders. Kaitlyn has beauty, smarts, a funny personality, and one hell of a swimmer. She is set to have a college career with her swimming. Life seems to be going pretty well for her. Things can get a little complicated though, as they do with life. Brody is her best friend, Caden is her twin brother that sticks to her like glue and will do anything to protect his sister. Then there is her hot and fun cowboy boyfriend, Pistol. It is a seemingly good relationship, on the outside looking in…
Eventually things become a lot more complicated for Kat. Life thrusts new feelings and emotions on her that she isn’t sure what to do with. What will her decisions do to her family and her the people she loves? Will the outcomes of her actions be something she can live with? Ultimately everything will change and she will be forced to make some very adult decisions.
I really became engrossed in this novel, so much so that I really didn’t see the ending that was coming. I actually found myself quite angry with these authors for a bit, but that is what makes for a great read right? We want to feel all the feels when we read and this book will definitely do that for you. With a cliffhanger like this I will definitely be picking up the next book in the series, to see what
Things aren’t always what they seem. To an outsider, Kaitlyn had it all. She is a beautiful championship swimmer for her high school team. Her father is the school’s football coach. Her brother and male best friend are popular athletes and her boyfriend is the hottest rodeo star around. Pistol Black is every high school girl’s dream. Perfect, right? No. When Fall Breaks is one of those books that provides enjoyable entertainment while addressing some serious issues. I normally don’t read YA but I have to say that these authors delivered an excellent view into the life of a teenager who appeared to have it all yet dealt with bullying from the school’s “mean girls” and subtle manipulation and abuse from her boyfriend. Abuse, which slowly escalates into true terror. As she tries to understand and silently deal with the changes in her relationship with Pistol, she discovers some new feelings for her best friend, Brody. Justice and Solano did an outstanding job of providing the perfect mix of high school angst, hidden passions, true fear and coming of age drama. All parents should encourage their daughter’s to read this book. I’m making sure mine do!
When Fall Breaks, the first in the Seasons of Jefferson series is the perfect book for young adult readers, but it can certainly be enjoyed by all ages! The characters will captivate your heart right from page one and you better be prepared to hold on tight for a rollercoaster of unexpected twists and turns that will keep you guessing until the very end. This story is the perfect combination of romance, suspense, and of course we can’t forget the teenage angst because what’s a good young adult read without a little bit of that!
The authors, Julie Solano and Tracy Justice, did an incredible job with this story and oh man was I left wanting more! Lucky for me I didn’t have to wait too long to dive right into the next book, The Dead of Winter!
When Fall Breaks (Seasons of Jefferson Book 1) by Julie Solano and Tracy Justice is a YA romance/mystery book. This is the first book I have read from either one of the authors and I will have to say I cannot wait to read the other book in this series. The authors are amazing at character and scene description. Being a YA book, it does deal with the main character Kaitlyn and her struggle with expectations and her plans for the future. It was refreshing read because I could relate to the Kaitlyn and often found myself yelling at my kindle. There is several twists and turns with this roller coaster ride but it is well worth it in the end. Kaitlyn has her life planned out but in rides Pistol Black with the Rodeo. There are so many emotions with this relationship. Hopefully everyone will see through Pistol enough to show Kaitlyn what type of person he is and not what she thinks he is. I cannot wait to see where book 2 and 3 take me.

When Fall Breaks ( Seasons of Jefferson Book 1) by JT Authors,Julie Solano and Tracy Justice is a YA /suspense/romance book. This is my first Book by these authors but it definitely wont be my last. I had a hard time putting it down once I started reading. I enjoyed this book made me reminisce about my high school days and the mischief we used to cause.oh and the drama. Teenagers live off drama. Most of the characters are friends and family, they stand up for one another and support each other as well. They take us on journey a bit like an emotional rollercoaster ride at times. They show us how they deal with everyday life and special events of the year. There are those who cause trouble.I got mad a couple of times but then was laughing so hard.l truly enjoyed this book and recommend you read it.i look forward to reading more from these authors.
When Fall Breaks by Julie Solano and Tracy Justice is the first book in this series and what a great book this is, there are not many young adult books that tackle more subjects than young love but this book will have you turning the pages to catch up on the story.
The story follows Kaitlyn, a girl who knows what she wants. Her life is planned out and nothing she thought would derail her from those dreams but in walked Pistol, the most handsome cowboy in town and her world starts to fall around.
When her bestfriend, Brody gets involved things start changing and feels that were buried deep down start surfacing as Brody and Kaitlyn’s twin brother Cody try to intervene in this toxic relationship.
I loved the twists this story had and although Pistol was a tool towards Kaithlyn she was no fool in the end. I love the way the authors took some serious storylines and wove them into a believable story. The secondary characters where a great back drop to the book especially Kaitlyn best friend Jenna who was brilliant. The way they all had each others back was great to see and true friendships you could feel through the writing.
This is the first book I read by these authors and would definitely recommend this book to anyone to read especially the cliffhanger at the end, still not quite recovered yet. Can’t wait for the next book in this series.
A YA read I would recommend to any High school student but also to any lover of YA fiction.
This story seemed so real and raw and it was easy to face all the mental struggles along with Kaitlyn. I assumed this would be an easy light read, but it had its touch of darkness and suspense. The balance in this book was on point. It was an easy read and I read it in one sitting rather quickly. It was a great escape from packing for my current move. I can’t wait to jump into the next one and escape from the unpacking.
When Fall Breaks (Seasons of Jefferson Book 1) by Julie Solano and Tracy Justice, 5 Stars
This is a Young Adult book that deals with sensitive situations. This is book one of the trilogy and my first book by these two authors. This book deals with subjects such as domestic violence, drugs, alcohol abuse, and bullying. It is written about these common issues that teens are faced with today. The characters are true to life and easy to connect with. The story is one that will hook the reader from the first page. All the character development is right on track with what they are dealing with. This book is filled with such raw emotion, the reader gets reeled in and stuck in the lives of these characters. I found myself getting so involved in the story that I didn’t want to put the book down. I am ready to dive into book two. This book ends in a major cliff hanger, but luckily both book two and three are already available.
I believe many teens will find at least one character who they can relate to. Most of the characters are from the same small town High school and are in their senior year. Kaitlyn and Caden are twins, Jenna is Kaitlyn’s best friend, Brody is Caden’s best friend, and Mason is Brody’s cousin. This group has grown up together with the exception of Jenna. They have history together and share inside jokes. It is fun to read about the dynamic this group has and how much they all care for one another. No matter who is in trouble, the rest jump in to save and protect them. When they start dating others outside of the group, the dynamics change. I love how all the characters have their own problems, but worry about the others more than themselves. It is what true friendship is all about!
This story is one that will have you laughing one moment, and crying the next. This is a great book for anyone to read, especially teens. It has a good storyline with actions and consequences.
When Fall Breaks by Julie Solano and Tracy Justice (Better known as JT Authors) is the first book in their new series Seasons of Jefferson, and what a great opener. Following the story of Kaitlyn, Caden, Brody and Pistol. Kaitlyn is a senior in high school, who is beautiful funny and a very talented swimmer. She is almost a grown up in her own eyes and can’t wait to make something of her life. Caden is her twin brother, and the bond that they share is something that is special to both of them. Brody is best friends with both twins, while Pistol is her boyfriend. Overall her inner circle of friends in great and her sense of security is full. Solano and Justice work hard to draw allot of emphasis to the bond that is shared between Kaitlyn, Caden and Brody, and it leaves you knowing that no matter what happens these three will make it through it together. But when feelings get in the way of their friendship will Kaitlyn be able to keep her friends and her feelings without getting hurt or hurting someone else? Her relationship with Pistol is nothing but an unnecessary stress that she is being burdened with, and leaning on Brody and Caden helps allot. Standing at a crossroad of her future is never easy but what way with Kaitlyn go and will her life be forever changed by this one decision? Solano and Justice really showed how two authors can work together to create a great safe story and then take that safe story and tear it wide open out of nowhere. More than once I felt like the story was getting a bit stagnant, but out of nowhere everything is turned upside down and I fell in love with this story all over again. The build-up in this story was great, especially for a YA novel, but the cliff that readers are tossed over make this book so much more than just a typical YA novel. So many topics are touched on in this book that are considered hot button issues, such as bullying, good and bad relationships, and growing up way too fast. I couldn’t wait to finish this one but didn’t want it to end all at the same time. Solano and Justice as new to me authors, as I don’t typically read allot of YA type novels, but I so glad that I picked this one up. The story was very well written, the characters were emotion filled and full bodied. The storyline pulled me in from page one and didn’t let go once. As I was reading I only stopped to pick up the rest of the books in this series so I didn’t miss a second of it waiting for the next book. I can’t wait to see where this series goes! If you are looking for a great book that will breathe fresh air into your reading than this is one for you.

Wow, I can honestly say I was not expecting to be sucked right into this book they way I was. I couldnt put it down!
Kaitlyn and her twin brother Caden, share a best friend, Brody. He’s their neighbor and has been around since they were very little. Of course Brody is a little closer to Caden being as they’re both boys, and play football together, but as they grow up, Brody starts to feel more than friendly feelings towards Kaitlyn and Kaitlyn is the same, but she has a boyfriend.
Kaitlyn is a smartmouthed, quick witted teenage girl who also is pretty shy and a people pleaser. So when things start to not be ok with her boyfriend, Pistol, she blames herself. Until one horrific night.
I rooted for Brody and Kaitlyn from the beginning, and as I got to the end of the story, my heart was pounding and breaking and then i couldn’t turn anymore pages, ot was over. I need to jump to book 2 as fast as possible! Great writing from both authors on this one!
When Fall Breaks is book one in the Seasons of Jefferson Series written by Julie Solano and Tracy Justice. I was blown away by this story. From beginning to end, I absolutely could not put it down, even when I tried. Kaitlyn is a typical, driven, high school girl living and loving her country lifestyle. Raised in the same community her whole life, and having known everyone she knows her whole life, Kaitlyn is oblivious to the danger she is in when she starts liking her boyfriend Pistol less, and her best friend Brody a little more. Everyone around her can sense that something is wrong, but she tries to keep it a secret from all the people she is closest to until its too late. This story had me on a roller coaster ride. I was laughing, and then i was on the edge of my seat with anticipation, and then I was plummeting into a dark place, and then i was laughing again, and then axious, and so on! Both of the authors that collaborated to write this spectacular story suitable for young adults and adults alike, are new to me. I had no idea what to expect when I opened this book. Be warned, there are some very unsettling scenes of language and violence, but at the same time its such a HUGE eye opener. I find myself more aware of some of the situations teenagers may find themselves in, and I have this book to thank for that. The writing itself was also fantastic. After reading this I most definitely want to visit Jefferson, North Carolina! 5 stars from me and I cant wait to buy book 2 and 3!

“My world had become dark, blurry, and hopeless. As the light and sound began to fade, my mind heard the soft echo of my pastor’s voice, “I will fear no evil, for you are with me.”
This was my first (not last) read by Julie and Tracy. Some books in this genre usually have characters a little too young for me, but this book had me engaged, anxious to turn the page and kept me hooked right up to the major cliffhanger. Make sure you have The Dead of Winter Book 2 of the Seasons of Jefferson ready to read at your fingertips when you start Book 1. You won’t want to waste time running to the store or downloading once you finish When Fall Breaks.
“Even if I look at another girl, I will never see her, not the way I see you. I don’t see you with my eyes, I see you with my soul, and you own it, completely.”
This story is set in the high school years and references a lot of issues that teens are currently facing. I have a teenage son and I think that is why the younger characters were so relatable and kept me engaged. It gave me a flashback to what it was like for me in high school vs what high school students face now. The pressures, friendships, toxic relationships, jealousy, abuse, crushes and family life.
“He broke me that night, completely and utterly broke me. I was out of my mind with fear…”
WHEN FALL BREAKS is a y/a novel and the first book in a new series. These authors are both new to me and I enjoyed the way they wrote. This story was well thought out and plotted and the writing flows well from beginning to end. Oh and that ending… (No spoilers)
This is a story that has so much angst and and real life situations that at times I was holding my breath. While the subject matter is tough, I feel like it was written in a way that held such truth and vision.
I look forward to reading the next in the series.

When Fall Breaks is the first book in the Seasons of Jefferson series by Julie Solano and Tracy Justice. It is an emotional Young adult story.
What happens when a gifted, intelligent, small town girl falls for a handsome rodeo cowboy who proceeds to flip her life upside down? Well we get to find out in this book when Kaitlyn Woodley meets Pistol Black… and what a tale it is. I was wrung out by the end of this book. I had so many emotions flowing through me over the course of the story, my heart and head hurt. Pistol earned a place for himself on my list of despicable characters- I hated him with a passion. And I think that’s exactly what the author’s intended. Evoking such strong emotion from your readers is a sign of a great author(s). It gave me a book hangover, which took me a few days to get over. I kept thinking about the story long after I’d finished.
I will definitely read the next collaboration by these two authors, as well as any of their individual works.
Thank you, Ms. Solano and Ms. Justice!
When Fall Breaks is book one in the Seasons of Jefferson series by JT Authors. What a pleasant and refreshing surprise this story was. It was not what I expected at all. It was so much more. There was a perfect balance of intrigue, drama, romance and misadventure. A collection of contrasting events that combined the evolution into adulthood flawlessly.
Now to the characters. Loved the main two. Loved other characters not so much. Brody made me laugh, and add in Kaitlyn, and my prayers were answered. The closeness that was always present between Brody and Kaitlyn just grew as wholeheartedly as their attraction. They went through a lot together, but proved that their love could weather the storm.
When Fall Breaks was a delightfully entertaining read and I cannot wait for more. 5 stars.

As soon as I grabbed this book I just knew I was going to love it, the cover is awesome and I’ve recently fallen in love with YA novels and I must say this one sits right at the top.
Once I began reading I could not put it down, the only reason I wasn’t upset that I was reading it so fast was because I knew that I have the next 2 books ready to roll, and oh my do I need the next book.
This story centers pretty much all around Kaitlyn, a senior in high school, star of the swim team and one of those girls you’d just want to be friends with. She has an amazing couple of best friends Brody and Jenna, a supportive loving family and a very protective brother who is also best friends with Brody who they have known for years and their families are close.
I loved the storyline and the way it moved along allowing me to get to know these characters and become emotionally invested in them. The unexpected twists and turns that kept popping up shocked me each time, and were written with the greatest of care. These authors took something on in this book that probably happens in one way or the other every day in our schools. I applaud how the whole story was handled and I’m going crazy now needing to get started on Book 2.
I highly recommend this book and just know that I will be rereading these in the future.
When Fall Breaks written by Julie Solano and Tracy Justice. This is book one in the Seasons of Jefferson Series. This series starts off with Caden, Brody and Kaitlyn. Caden and Kaitlyn are twins and Brody is their best friend and neighbor. This is a interesting story since it’s not your typical highschool story, there is mystery, suspense and some romance. The story itself was kind of slow to me but it kept me entertained. I didn’t get the pull to finish it asap so I relaxed and just enjoyed reading it. Kaitlyn and Brody grow a lot as two of the main characters. When Fall Breaks has a lot of unexpected twists to it that made me want to finish the story. It does end in a cliffhanger however book 2 The Dead of Winter is available.

What in the name of all things holy. This story was so crazy and its not over. Being a teenager is hard enough but the author added so much more to it. You think your in love is the real thing but it turns ugly. Kaitlyn is a sweet girl and very talented. The relationship between her and Brody was so innocent. They had a pure love that they didn’t want to ruin but it became clear with time that it wouldn’t be stopped. The drama was crazy and intense. Pistol needs serious help. The ending had me so shocked and ready to punch something. I am excited for the next book.
When Fall Breaks is the first book in the Seasons of Jefferson series written by Julie Solano and Tracy Justice. This novel is a five star novel. I am definitely a YA junkie so this book was right up my alley. Mix in a little bit of love and intrigue and you have a great book. Kaitlyn and Caden are twins with Brody as their best friend. Even though Kaitlyn has a boyfriend, she knows that things are changing between her and Brody. He is a hotshot quarterback as a senior and he and Caden have made quite the team with the twins’ dad as a coach. When things start popping up with Pistol, the boyfriend, Brody starts getting concerned and does what he can to make things better.
