I can’t say enough good things about this series. Wait for Me is the conclusion of the Montana Rescue series, and focuses on Jess and Pete’s story as well as tying up the series running story about Esme/Shay and the man who killed her boyfriend, Dante. Emotional, action packed, romantic suspense at its best!

What a great ending to the Montana Rescue series. Pete and Jess finally find their happy ending. Of course we knew they would. But the journey was great. This book started with a bang with Pete in a rescue that about cost him his life. From there the story just keeps getting better. At first I wasn’t sure about Jess. She came off as kind of whinny. A lot was explained along the way that helped me understand her situation. Pete was just trying to get over his love for Jess when he hears she’s engaged to her former fiancee. There’s a lot of action to get Jess and Pete together to show them God’s love. A great book and I highly recommend it. I can’t wait for the next series. I wouldn’t mind reading books about Ned’s family.
I received this book as a complimentary copy from the author for an honest review. I was not compensated in any way.
“But perhaps that was what love looked like too. Not perfect, but raw and jagged and terrifying and wounding…and beautiful and overwhelming and completely, wonderfully out of her control. Because love gave all.”
What an incredible conclusion to this epic series! As always, Susan May Warren packs in action, suspense, harrowing brushes with death and disaster, and quite a few twists and turns in the story to make you stay up way past your bedtime reading….and thinking, just one more page….
And the raw emotional intensity of the main characters is completely heart-wrenching and real. If you’ve read the previous books in the series, you’ve been impatiently waiting for Pete and Jess to have their story. Even if you haven’t read any of the previous books, this particular book can be read as a stand alone because there are many flashbacks that make up the bulk of Pete and Jess’ story that even the die-hard followers of the series have not be privy to in the other books.
Pete is a changed man and gone are his wild ways. He’s still heroic, protective to a fault, and passionate but he’s completely undone and broken and wounded by Jess who has returned to her glamorous lifestyle in NYC. Jess doesn’t know who she is or what she wants and feels trapped. Felipe, Jess’ previous fiance, actually plays a bigger role in the story than I thought he would and became quite likable even though he’s competing against Pete for Jess. And then there are Ned and Shae. Ned is the younger version of Pete and so incredibly heroic. Shae has finally returned home to Mercy Falls, Montana not just to attend Ben and Kacey’s wedding reception but also to find closure in her run from the man who killed her previous boyfriend. Each of these characters must learn to fight their fears to conquer them but also learn to ask for help from their friends, family, and God in conquering these fears. What a satisfying finale to an adrenaline-packed series full of rescue, grace, hope, love, joy, and faith.
I received a copy of the book from Baker Publishing Group via LibraryThing and was under no obligation to post a review. All comments and opinions are solely my own.
Loyal readers have been waiting patiently to see if Pete Brooks and Jess Tagg would be able to figure out their lives and that they belong together.
Finally, they’re front and center in the last of the Montana Rescue books.
Pete has spent a year trying to forget Jess and trying to move on. Jess has spent the year trying to please her mother, her family, her former (and current??) fiance Felipe, and generally everyone except herself.
Finally, they’re in the same place, at the same time. Back in Mercy Falls for Ben and Kacey’s wedding reception. However, their reunion doesn’t go well.
Shae/Esme and Ned Marshall, last seen in Storm Front (Ty and Brette’s story, Montana Rescue Book 5), are driving Jess home when their pickup is run off the road. They don’t know who is after them. The man Shae is prepared to accuse as a murderer after running for five years? Someone angry at Jess or her family? Or a random crazy person?
Jess, Shae, and Ned are on the run in the Montana wilderness, injured and cold, with someone after them.
Pete and the rest of the PEAK Rescue team are also on the hunt.
It’s a race to find the missing trio.
I love the way Warren combines faith, suspense, adventure, and romance in this series. Wait for Me is a fitting conclusion. Pete and Jess both have to work through their pasts and their mistakes before they can embrace God’s forgiveness, grace, and each other.
I highly recommend this one!

I received an advance copy of Wait For Me, in exchange for an honest review, which I’ve done.
What an amazing conclusion to this epic series! Wait for Me, the sixth and final installment in award-winning author Susan May Warren’s Montana Rescue series, is a must-read for fans of action-packed contemporary romance. It is highly recommended that the Montana Rescue series be read in order, since there is an overall story arc and several subplots that follow throughout the entire series.
Readers have been rooting for SAR incident commander Pete Brooks and EMT Jess Tagg to get their happy ending during this series and have shared in their pain, anguish, and love for each other during their time together as members of the PEAK search and rescue team. The disappearance of billionaire Ian Shaw’s niece Esme/Shae several years earlier in the prequel, If Ever I Would Leave You, has been a mystery throughout the series and led to the formation of the PEAK team. After Jess, Shae, and Ned are taken hostage, Shae’s past and present collide in this stunning conclusion to the Montana Rescue series as the lives of multiple beloved characters hang in the balance.
Wait for Me is highly recommended for fans of contemporary romance filled with action and adventure, and readers who enjoy novels by authors such as Becky Wade, Denise Hunter, and Courtney Walsh. Susan May Warren ends the series on an extremely satisfying note, and various characters from this series will undoubtedly make appearances in future novels of hers. I can’t wait to read her next series!
I purchased a copy of this book and was under no obligation to write a review. All opinions expressed are mine.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Revell Publishing via NetGalley and I am voluntarily reviewing it.
This is the first book in this series that I have read unfortunately. Why because the other characters seemed so enchanting. I will have to go back and read the others now. Pete Brooks and Jess Tagg (Selene Jessica Taggert) are two people with a history and lots of misunderstanding and pain to get through on their road to their HEA. It was a little hard to keep all of the different characters straight and was with who but I stayed up until early in the morning to finish. I finally gave up at 4:00 a.m. when I couldn’t understand the paragraph and realized I still have 4 more chapters to get through. I couldn’t do the book justice anymore. I had to put it down for sleep. I had a hard time with that as the plot in the story had woven a spell on my hands and I couldn’t let my e-reader down.
The story was full of flash backs and intrigue as to ultimately who is the bad guy that kidnapped Jess, Ned and Shae. There were several to choose from that I couldn’t figure it out. I adored the multiple POV format here. Understanding the thoughts and emotions from several different characters and not just the two main protagonists was a must in this story. It helped to identify with them especially as I had not previously read any of the prior stories.
I do recommend this story. This author did a wonderful job in drawing me into these characters and their “lives”. I really felt that I was right there with them as the action was happening.
I picked this book up and quite literally could not put it down until I finished reading it. Wait for Me is worth every hour of sleep sacrificed and then some! There isn’t anything boring or predictable about this highly anticipated romance.
Pete is irresistibly charming and courageous to boot. His surprising vulnerability makes me love him even more. When those tough (and a little bit wild) rescuer types are willing to reveal their raw and honest selves, that is to be cherished.
Jess is torn between two lives and two fiancés. I’m pretty sure there isn’t a guidebook for reconciling two very different lifestyles while keeping everyone in your life happy and bless her heart, that’s exactly what tender-hearted Jess wants to do.
The delightful complexity and pulse rocking adventure readers have come to associate with Warren’s expansive fictional universe shines once more in this exciting Montana Rescue series conclusion. I personally plan to binge read the entire series at my earliest opportunity!
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher and was under no obligation to post a review. The opinions expressed are my own.
Hold on to your hats when you start reading this book! From beginning to end this novel was gripping and impossible to put down. Action, adventure, romance, faith. It was all there and then some. The settings and complex characters were amazing to get caught up in. And talk about jaw-dropping twists and turns! A must read for anyone seeking adventure, suspense, and knee-weakening romance.
Wait for Me is the final book in the Montana Rescue series. Because I hadn’t read the previous books, I was worried I wouldn’t be able to follow the story. But I didn’t need to be concerned about that because at least a third of the book reviewed what had happened to the other characters previously. It really wasn’t necessary for the author to go into such detail in that area since most of them didn’t play a part in this book. But I did find it hard to remember who the 2 women who had changed their names were.
It was a big risk for Jess to go back to Montana for a weekend celebration. But, because she had loved her time there, getting away from her life as a New York socialite was worth the risk. That’s where she’d met Pete. She’d always loved him even though the tabloids made it sound like she had moved on. She prayed for the chance to make him understand she hadn’t. But had he? They argued. Jess wanted to get away from Pete as fast as she could so she accepted a ride with Ned and Shae but almost immediately their lives were in danger. Who wanted them dead? Both women had enemies so who was after them? It was not who I suspected.
This was a very tense story. Especially when someone tried to run them off the road, then chased after them when they were trying to get away. Staying safe and alive took everything they had. When the PEAK team learned about the situation Pete HAD to find Jess, the woman he loved. I loved this guy. Saving people was what he did, rescued them no matter what it took. I felt so bad for him – losing the love of his life to another man.
This Christian romantic thriller was given to me in exchange for an honest review. The opinions stated here are entirely my own.
When Pete hears that Jess is missing, he doesn’t think twice about going out to find her. Because that is what love does. It rescues with no thought of cost or whether the love will be returned. Though it wasn’t referenced specifically in the story, as I read of his desperate search for her, I couldn’t help but think about the scripture that talks about how the Good Shepherd leaves the ninety-nine sheep who are safe to go find the one who is lost. My entire picture of that passage changed from a view of a relatively simple search to one more like the kind that went on here – through perilous circumstances, sacrificing everything to save the lost sheep. Wow! Because the things Jesus went through to rescue me weren’t easy or simple.
In case you haven’t figure it out yet, I was profoundly touched by this story. The sacrificial kind of love shown by Pete, who had no hope of having his love returned, was also shown by Ned. Ned first appeared in Storm Front and he returns in this story to see if the attraction he felt was returned. And in the process, he is severely injured along with Jess and the love of his life. As they escape from a kidnapper, he fights through his pain to carry his love, who is now close to death, to whatever safety they can find. (I won’t reveal her name in case you haven’t started the series yet – that could be a spoiler.)
Every page I turned had another twist. Each time they thought they were safe, they found out they weren’t. Floods, kidnappings, attempted murder, jealousy. Yep. It is all here, and more.
With the stories from the previous novels being so closely linked to this one, it was necessary for the author to do some recapping. She did a marvelous job in providing the backstory in a manner that flowed well and didn’t feel even remotely like an information dump. It seriously may have been the best I’ve ever seen. In addition, details from the past year from both Pete and Jess’ lives needed to be revealed, and again, the way that was done was masterful.
This was an amazing conclusion to an already thrilling series!

I was given a copy of this book for free. I was not required to give a favorable review nor was any money received for this review. All comments and opinions are my own.
I have a horrible habit of putting off reading the last book in a series I’ve loved because then that would mean there are no more books to look forward to. Completely irrational, since I know the author has another exciting series coming. All the books have been full of adventure, action, and angst, and this one is no different. Pete and Jess have provided some of the relationship drama in the previous books, and it was satisfying for them to finally grow, communicate, and have a resolution. They had quite the build-up! There is also a romance between Esme/Shea and a young man she met in the previous book, which gave us a nice break from the Pete and Jess drama. The murder case involving Esme’s friend also comes to an end with the unexpected villain made known and it brought the elements of suspense and danger to the plot. It was nice to have everything wrapped up, and I’m ready for some fresh love stories from the author!
(I received a complimentary copy of the book; all opinions in this review are my own)
Non-stop action from the very first page! You will get to visit with all the old characters and get that happy ever after with some new ones. Suspense abounds, danger lurks on every page and you won’t see the twists that come. I couldn’t put this down! Well written characters with real flaws that endear you to them and make you root for them to win in the end. Quite a few times I wanted to shake Jess into stop being so stubborn. Pete has to move on but he struggles with his past and wanting a different future. I would definitely categorize this as an up-all-nighter bookshelf keeper. If you love mystery, danger, fast action, page turning events and a thread of love and lessons then pick this up and read it!
Ahh! So good! A great ending to the series. I love Ms. Warren’s writing-just the right mix of mystery/suspense, romance and character growth.

Wait For Me is the final installment in the Montana Rescue series by Susan May Warren. Like the rest of the novels in this series, Wait For Me was well-written, fast-paced, and held my attention. This particular novel was stuffed with emotional angst in addition to suspense and mystery. I liked that the author quietly sewed in a theme of leaning in and trusting in God’s love for His children. She held true to the dichotomy that while God’s love will ultimately preserve us, it doesn’t always prevent us from hurt and injury. Still, God’s love is presented as a source of hope and reason for faith.
I recommend reading the entire series before reading Wait for Me because Jess and Pete’s relationship develops substantially in other books. The series long saga of Esme/Shae is finally resolved and the main characters from prior books play roles in Wait for Me. Readers who have enjoyed the Montana Rescue series by Susan May Warren will enjoy reading the final riveting installment. My personal favorites are Wild Montana Skies (Book 1) and Troubled Waters (Book 4). I recommend the entire series to fans of Christian romance. Each novel is filled with intense danger, growing faith, and delicious romance.

What a wonderful feeling to finish this series, have the answers, and see all of the happily-ever-afters that have built throughout each and every book. But it was also hard to know that I was reading the final book in the Montana Rescue series, as I have enjoyed these novels so much. I guess I will just need to go back and enjoy re-reading them in the future! And this is definitely a series that readers should read in its entirety. The individual novels have some continuing situations that are not all fully resolved until Wait for Me.
I enjoyed this story so much! I loved the adventure of it, yet for me, the best part was the intense back and forth of Jess and Pete’s story. I liked the way that the author allowed the reader to peek back into the past year and see glimpses of what went right and what went wrong for Jess and Pete. These two went through so much, both physically and emotionally in this story, and both of them had a lot of growing to do! And they did! Jess and Pete both learned so much and grew in their walks with God, as well as in their understanding of the love that they had for each other.
In all of the Montana Rescue novels, there have been two love stories going on in each book. Wait for Me was no exception, and I so enjoyed the romance and devotion that developed between Shae and Ned. Their love story was a wonderful addition to the plot.
I highly recommend Wait for Me, along with the entire Montana Rescue series.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
Wow! It started with a bang and continued that way through the whole book. I felt like I took a deep breath and couldn’t let it out till the end. I loved the main characters. Pete was probably my favorite character of the Montana Rescue series. A must read…especially if you love mystery and suspense.
I’ve been anticipating Pete and Jess’ story. I knew it would be a whirlwind ride and indeed it was. As a bonus, Shea and Ned get to ride along. This may be my favorite of the Montana Rescue series. The only bad thing about it, is that it’s the last of the series. But I believe at least some of the characters will overlap another future series. The author does such a great job of getting the perfect mix of action, suspense, danger, romance and faith. Susan May Warren remains one of my favorite authors.
Wait for Me is the perfect conclusion to the Montana Rescue series! It’s fast-paced, exciting, and romantic with just enough suspense thrown in to make things intriguing.
I loved watching Pete & Jess’s love story unfold throughout the series, and this is just about the perfect resolution for them … even though I really struggled to like Jess in this book. After her true identity as Selene Taggert was revealed and she returned home to New York (in a previous book in the series), she stopped being brave, independent Jess and basically allowed others to make decisions for her in an effort not to hurt anyone. Only, as Shae pointed out, someone was bound to get hurt, and by refusing to make a decision, Jess was really hurting everyone, including herself! In the end, Jess did make a decision (thankfully!), and Pete and Jess’s ultimate reunion was quite satisfying.
In addition to the romance, this book also contains a quite a bit of suspense. Ian Shaw’s niece Shae (formerly known as Esme) has finally returned to Montana after hiding for years following the brutal murder of her boyfriend. The killer is still out there, and when Shae, her new boyfriend Ned, and Jess are run off the road and then kidnapped, it seems that the killer has caught up to her. Quickly, though, it becomes apparent that everything is not as is seems, and I loved all the twists and turns to get to the final resolution of the story that has been in the background ever since the prequel—exposing the murderer and bringing him to justice.
This is a phenomenal conclusion to Warren’s Montana Rescue series, and I’m eager to read whatever she writes next!
Note: This is a series best read in order. Many things flow from one book into the next, so for the best reading experience, you’ll want to start with the prequel novella and go from there.
Disclosure of material connection: I received this book for review. I was not required to leave a positive review, and the opinions expressed are my own.
4.5 Stars
For five books, Susan May Warren has taken readers on some wild rides through this Montana Rescue team (and we haven’t stayed in Montana the entire series either). But, with the series finale, it’s appropriate that the entire gang has returned to where the series started.
Another thing that has occurred throughout this series is the rollercoaster of Pete Brooks and Jess Tagg—the on-again-off-again couple has appeared in all of the books and things were left up in the air in the Storm Front.
If the emotional ups and downs don’t get to you, Jess’s wild trek through the Montana wilderness and Pete’s desperate search to find her will definitely get your heart pumping with the elements, injuries, and someone hunting the three people lost.
Even if most of us will never experience working a rescue operation, Warren drops readers right in the middle, making them connect with this team and joining the adventure with them. I will miss the PEAK team but can’t wait to see what adventures are next!

WORTH WAITING FOR!
Wait for Me (Montana Rescue #6) by Susan May Warren has been worth waiting for! This novel may be read as a stand-alone but should be read in chronological order to fully understand the complexity of characters as well as the complexity of the plot. Understanding the backstory will make this novel even more suspenseful and intense.
Pete Brooks wants to continue his work in Search and Rescue. More than that, he wants to reunite with EMT Jess Tagg and finally get her to marry him. After all, he has proposed to her three times! However, Pete’s heart is aching as he has discovered Jess has returned to her real life as Selene (her father was convicted of the largest Ponzi scheme and she testified against him and has been living under an assumed name)is engaged to her old boyfriend Felipe. Pete has some sliver of hope as Jess has told him “things aren’t as they seem.”
In this novel, Warren ties up many loose ends from the entire series. During one of the happiest days for a couple of the Peak Team family, a disagreement shakes things up causing Jess, Esme and her friend Ned to leave a Wedding Reception. That one incident triggers a deadly nightmare course of events that will take the reader into an adrenaline overload adventure! The three are run off the road, taken hostage, escape into the Montana mountain wildness, injured with no way to contact the outside world. They make it to a rustic cabin where things progressively get worse! Who can find them? There is one man with the skills. If … he still cares enough about Jess to search for her.
Pete, Jess, Esme and Ned show what it means to have turned their back on God & live their lives their own way. They put their trust In themselves and not God. Throughout the series, each of the other PEAK Team Members and family have learned to trust God and grow in their faith. They have shown Pete, Jess, Esme and Ned by being living examples before them as well as telling them verbally about their faith. As the four of them face their mortality several times over, their growing faith is put to the test. They learn to rely on the God of GRACE and not themselves and to be thankful fo the ways He has blessed them.
I was provided an ARC of this book by Revell and NetGalley. The opinions expressed here are completely my own and without influence.
