Even though she was ultimately able to defeat the evil that was Meg, Dulcie still bears scars that run deep: her body is at war with itself, … scars that run deep: her body is at war with itself, owing to all the different races of creature that now war within her veins.
To make matters worse, things with her ex-boyfriend, Knight, aren’t exactly comfortable. In fact, they’re the opposite of comfortable. So when Dulcie finds herself working in close proximity with Knight yet again, sparks are going to fly. Not the good kind…

Welcome back to the world of Dulcie O neil there is a war raging in her veins and now she has to find Dagan after his brother comes to Splendor to find Dagan . When she is around Quinlan there are sparks a flying but not the kind of sparks she wants to be flying . Can Dulcie protect Dagan and Bram while trying to control all the changes that are going on . Will everyone survive to live another day .
Dulcie is having the worst time ever, she is trying to come to terms with the races of creatures running rampant in her blood . If that isn’t bad enough she is working with her ex. You really just want to wrap her up in a blanket and tell her that she will get everything under control and her ex will just deal . Bram is back and he is really making everything difficult for Dulcie . He is well he is Bram kinda arrogant but also so sexy . You will want to have him for yourself . Dagan and Darion are strong brothers . You really just want to put them in a corner until they can act human . They put Dulcie through so much . I really like these characters they are well written and with each book they come out more and more complex .
I have been waiting for this book for awhile so I carved out a whole day to snuggle down and read . The author takes us on a laugh out loud fun filled ride . She takes her characters on the roller coaster . . There were a few things that had me thinking that there was something missing from this book , it seemed to be mostly Bram and Quinlan the two men in her life. They took up most of the book and the book did seem to drag a bit . Don’t get me wrong I love these stories and characters but i felt like there wasn’t enough Dulcie to balance out the men . Over all i enjoyed this story and can’t wait to see where the author is going to take them in the future. If you are looking for a series that will have you laughing out loud check it out .
I enjoyed this well-written urban fantasy romance. Dulcie and Knight find they have to work in close proximity again, which is awkward, to say the least. The resident demon, Dagan, is missing, and his brother, Dario, shows up looking for him. Vampire Bram is involved, and things get really complicated for everyone! This was an entertaining book and I look forward to reading more books in this series.
Vanity Scare is the 11th book in H.P. Mallory’s Dulcie O’Neil series. We are post-death of Meg and learn that all is not well inside Dulcie. She has serious anger issues, blood issues, and other problems. She also can’t get away from her ex – Knight. They work together so getting any kind of closure is not going to happen. I used to work with an ex-husband and believe me, it is almost impossible to move forward when you see the person every.single.day. The mystery in the book surrounds the missing demon, Dagan. What unfolds is a curious tale involving a double-cross, escape from Dromir, evasion, discovery, and a…. magical scarf? To top off this whatever thing with Dulcie and Knight, Bram turns into a high schooler and starts spreading information about Knight and Dulcie around that really is not his, nor anyone else’s business.
Bram is totally on my “list” and I’m not at all happy with his character. Never does he really redeem himself either. I mean, it’s one thing to discuss the matter with the proper people. It is an entirely different matter to confront, harass, or embarrass others with the spread of the information. His actions are not endearing, loving, or on the up-and-up; they are disrespectful and purely selfish. I hope this is where the author was taking Bram – if so, she was spot-on. Now, what I’m talking about is a serious matter; however, Bram is not right in how he handled information to which he was privy. Please don’t misconstrue my Bram tirade as me not enjoying the book. On the contrary, I loved the book. My reaction to Bram’s antics means the author did a great job writing a character that invokes an emotional response in the reader.
I enjoyed the story, the characters, the world, and the content of Vanity Scare. I was completely captivated with this story, the characters, and the various locations in the book. I was able to visualize the story and felt, at times, like I was there in the scene with the characters. The mystery and tension throughout the book kept me engaged in the story from beginning to end. Despite the break-up and the way the ending was presented, I truly hope for a Knight and Dulcie reunion. Dulcie and Knight are both guilty of hurting each other and have baggage to unpack and deal with before they can move back into a relationship, but I think there is hope for them, eventually. We shall see where the author takes the characters in the next book.
