And I certainly didn’t want it from Tucker.
When my sister left us both to care for my niece,
we realize co-parenting may be harder than we thought.
Especially when we’re fighting a desire for each other.
When the ghosts of our past come back to haunt us, will we find that there’s still an us after all?

Us After You was the second book in Claudia’s Sinners of Seattle Series. It was an emotional roller coaster ride. There were so many times that I wasn’t sure my heart could take anymore but then Tucker would make me swoon! I honestly didn’t want it to end!
Tucker was a typical rockstar – broody, reckless and hot! He wasn’t much into dating until he met Sage; there was something about her that he couldn’t put his finger on. When a horrible tragedy struck, they were thrown into the crazy world of parenting. Would they be able to navigate their way through friendship, romance and being first time parents? Or would their pasts put an end to what they had accomplished?
So many emotions! My heart was torn in two but was slowly put back together. I loved how Tucker and Sage’s relationship was written, such an beautiful slow burn! Another amazing book for Claudia!!
4.5-stars.
Us After You by Claudia Burgoa was an emotional, heartwarming and a slow burning romance with so many feels. This is a story of two people who do not want to let love in and carry baggage that is hard to let go. When life throws them an expected curve, they cannot let go of the other so easily. But do they really want too?
Tucker and Sage had amazing chemistry, but their pasts haunted them deeply. Tucker was very determined, but also protective and caring. Sage has been hurt in the past but is trying to move forward. It was great seeing not only Tucker and Sage fall but seeing how this group of friends banded together. Another great read from this author.
Read and reviewed for Sultry Sirens Book Blog.
Happy reading!

This is, I’m pretty sure, my first read by Ms Burgoa. It won’t be my last.
I enjoyed getting to know Tucker and Sage. The long lead time of seeing where they are coming from, the battles they have fought, and the progress they’ve made before being put into one of the hardest situations they could face. I also appreciated seeing them take all of that and use it to create something beautiful and new.
As much as I enjoyed the story of Us After You – and it is an impactful, heartwarming story- I was also a little confused. The core secondary cast is fairly small, but there is a huge group of extended family mixing things up. It almost felt like there is another book/series surrounding these people where some of the details are explained. I spent a lot of my time wondering “who is that again?”
Not being more familiar with the authors work, it’s hard for me to tell if I am missing previous stories where everything would make sense or if the group surrounding Tucker and Sage is just that complicated. I will say that the confusion was a bit distracting for me.
This is not your normal romance!!!!
Now that is out of the way let me tell you what this is. This story is life. It is unconventional, it is emotional, it is learning to love yourself, learning to love a child, learning to love with your whole being. It is learning to trust after you have been hurt by the ones you should be able to trust. It is everything difficult, emotional, joyous, and sorrowful in life beautifully written in this story.
Tucker Decker’s life has been far from ordinary. He was adopted as a baby, then no longer wanted when those parents split. He then ends up back with his birth mother and family, but obviously has some issues there. He grew up in a famous family, was a member of a fairly popular band in his late teens early twenties. His ideas of life are a little skewed. But deep down he wants what everyone wants in life. To be loved for who he truly is.
Sage Heywood has been hurt beyond measure. Living with her grandparents to help after her grandfather has a health complication she isn’t living life, but surviving it. She survived her abusive ex-husband, and does is trying to move forward with her life, despite her parents urging her to get back with her ex-husband.
Then life introduces these two, when Sage’s sister and Tucker’s friend decide to get married. Tucker is instantly drawn to Sage, but Sage want nothing to do with the man she thinks he is. Then when the worst possible things happen they are forced to work together for the sake of their Snuggle Bug.
This story is so powerful. It evokes so many emotions. So beautifully written. With characters we have already met in some of Claudia Burgoa’s other works, and a few new ones. Characters you will love, and others you will love to hate.
Tucker’s family is complicated which also means that his feelings about them are as well. He found solace with the other members of the band he formed, and they are more like brothers than friends. There is nothing he wouldn’t do for them or them for him.
Sage grew up in a wealthy and privileged style but the cost she paid almost destroyed her. She has now built a new life for herself far away from her past and the terrible memories it holds.
Even though Sage’s sister married Tucker’s bandmates there was always a distance between them until disaster strikes and they find themselves responsible for her niece Mae. Now they must work together to ensure her parent’s wishes are carried out and along the way they may just find the love and family they have always wanted.
Both Tucker and Sage’s pasts will break your heart but the way they opened their hearts to Mae also allowed them to open their hearts to each other and that was magical to see.
Let me start off by saying, I love Claudia’s Sinners of Seattle series. I loved Hannah’s story in Almost Perfect.
Us After You is another amazing Sinner story. While it does start off very confusing and hard to get into, once you hit that one little turning point it is so worth it.
This story contains heartbreak and tears and aches and swoon etc. I loved it.
I’m so glad I pushed on and finished it.
Sage and Tucker made me fall even more in love with Ms. Burgoa’s writing. I highly recommend and recommend the entire series!
This is one story that I am having trouble finding the right words for. I have to admit that I was thrown off a bit at the beginning of this story as I found it confusing. But as it progressed, the story became clearer and with it commenced a wave of emotions and situations that I was not prepared for. The character development with the storyline is phenomenal and makes this one story you must read in 2020.
I won’t rehash the blurb. You can read it on your own. This is book 2 of the Sinners of Saints and our hero is a grown up Tucker Decker, an offspring from the Unexpected Series. There are also cameos from several of the author’s previous books. If you are new to the author, never fear. You can start here and be just fine (but you should read the Unexpected series because it is still my favorite Claudia Burgoa series). I don’t want to give anything away, so I am going to tread carefully to remain spoiler free.
Us Before You was a blast to read. The story was gripping. The pace was steady up until close to the end when it picked up but nothing felt rushed or unresolved. I was hooked from the first page and I found it very difficult to put the book down long enough to adult. I just had to know the who, what, where, when, why, and how of it all.
I enjoyed the story but I wasn’t a big fan of the heroine. I could relate to her history but I didn’t care for her personality for most of the book. Normally, this would turn me away from a book but the story, as a whole, was compelling and well, there were parts that had me reaching for my tissues. I am a sucker for any book that can make me cry.
Overall, it was bittersweet, hauntingly beautiful love story with just enough humor to elicit much needed chuckles when things got too heavy.
Oh my, Tucker and Sage are my absolute favorite. This story hit close to home in a lot of areas. I found it relatable and it gutted me. All the emotion and beauty was overwhelming and utterly perfect. A beautiful story and it can be read as a standalone. My heart is completely destroyed in the best way. Five brilliant stars!!
I have been waiting for Tucker’s story for a while, I loved his parent’s story in Uncut (Unexpected Book 4), which was the first book by Claudia I had read and instantly fell in love with her writing.
Tucker Decker and Sage Hayward’s lives are very different. Tucker had a picture perfect childhood with loving parents until that reality came to a bitter end and truths and lies were revealed. As a teenager Tucker and his friends played in a band called the Sinners of Seattle, they turned into their own little family and have always been there for one another no matter what.
Sage’s childhood was vastly different, she grew up in a very wealthy family being raised by nannies and never truly loved or shown affection by her parents. She is currently taking care of her grandparents in Baker’s Creek, Oregon after her grandfather had a stroke and she is helping with the running of their bookstore.
This story takes place over several years, at the beginning of the book the author does a really great job of setting everything up for us. Over a three year period we get to see what is happening in each of their lives, the good and the not so good, and we get to witness each of the encounters Tucker and Sage have and how the chemistry between them crackles.
It’s not a spoiler when I say that Sage and Tucker are tasked with raising a baby together because it’s right there in the book synopsis, I will not tell you whose baby or why they are the one’s raising her, just know that everything they do is with the baby’s best interest first and foremost and it’s so wonderful to see how everyone gathers together to do what is best for her.
I thought going into this book it was going to be a little on the lighter side but I will admit that there were quite a few times I needed tissues. If you are thinking this is going to be light and fluffy you are wrong, this story is deeply emotional, yes I did laugh out loud a few times but the overall feel of the story is much more heavier then a rom-com.
I always recommend Claudia Burgoa’s books because they are books that make you laugh, cry, cheer, and just outright feel and for me that is the best part of a book. I hope grab a copy of this book for yourself.
Happy Reading!!!
Us After You by Claudia Burgoa was an overwhelmingly emotional journey for me. This story is about relationships and love at so many level. Loving yourself. Loving friends and families of all kinds. Loving someone enough to change your life. The author has broken me and healed me with her heartaching and inspiring writing.
Tucker Decker is man of many talents. Celebrity band member of Sinners of Seattle. Philanthropist. Successful businessman. But he is an incomplete, unsatisfied and broken man inside. He holds bitterness and anger towards his mother and parents. His loyalty lies with his friends but they are letting him down. He has changed his party boy image or at least tried but Zeke and Rocco has not been so wise. Drugs and scandals chase them. Rocco finally got married to a beautiful woman only to lose her after delivering their daughter Mae. And he is gone too. Now Tucker has the responsibility of Mae. Shared with Mae’s aunt, Sage. A shy, smart, sweet and adorable woman who has been abused and traumatised enough by her parents and ex husband. They don’t trust each other. But they need an united front to give Mae a home. Legally, emotionally and physically.
I think what’s most unique about this story is the individual journey of Tucker and Sage. They do spend a lot of time together in various phases of their relationships. Like meeting in a bar accidentally, then Sage trying to avoid him and push him as he reminds her of her ex husband ( not a good way), then having almost animosity running as Sage’s parents try to sue them and finally building a true partnership and friendship over Mae. But the author gave them individual spaces to evolve and grow. And that made me closer to them. Tucker’s struggle with his family, his troubles with bandmates, his solidarity with these people who are more than family, his protectiveness ( SWOONING SO HARD) over Mae and how he becomes the perfect man. He is still cocky and arrogant and infuriating. But he holds a softness in his heart. Likewise Sage found a loving and accepting family in strangers while her own blood despises her. She always sacrificed her happiness for others but Tucker made her priority and has taken care of her needs first. They have a different kind of connection that can only be found between two lonely and vulnerable persons with heart bigger than ocean. The emotions crippled me but those moments were just amazing. Angsty. Soul deep. Raw. Honest. Every thing.
Us After You by Claudia Burgoa is all about romancing life. About finding meaning in darkness. About finding glory after darkness. About true value of loyal friends and loving families. Tucker and Sage both lost a lot but found each other. An exceptionally heartbreaking romance that wrecked my heart beautifully.
Received ARC for honest review.
Us After You by Claudia Y. Burgoa was such an Emotional, endearing story. So much going on in this book, my heart broken a few times, and Claudia is always able to piece it back together.
This is Sage and Tucker’s story. And it’s not an easy one. Very slow burn, I love the build up of the story. That way I was able to stay caught up on the timeline. There are tons of secondary characters which can be overwhelming at times. But it worked for this story.
I loved this story so much! As heartbreaking and tragic, there is some love and light. Well done Ms Burgoa another perfectly crafted story! 5 stars!
RATING 4.5 STARS
Us After You is by Claudia Y. Burgoa. I want to say that I rate the books I read by my feelings, my emotions. For me to connect to a book, I have to feel, and this book made me feel so much. You know when you put your book down to try to be productive but you can’t because your mind is constantly on the characters of the book you are reading, that the author has done her job well. And with this book, Ms. Burgoa has most definitely done her job well!
Tucker Decker started out his life as most children do, in a loving home with two loving parents. Until it wasn’t. His life fell apart and he realized nothing was as it seemed. That’s when, as a teenager, he and his best friends formed the band, Sinners of Seattle, which became a worldwide phenomenon. Now, years later, the band no longer together, his band mates are like his family. He tries his best to take care of them in any way he can.
Sage Heywood grew up in a wealthy household where children are raised by the nanny. There was no love or affection. She escapes to Baker’s Creek, Oregon to take care of her Grandparents and has found a quiet, peaceful life there, helping to run their bookstore.
When Tucker and Sage first meet, that initial crackle of electricity is there but neither are ready for it. As they weave in and out of each other’s lives, that crackle grows but the timing is never right. Until tragedy once more brings them together and binds them in a way that forces them into each other’s lives.
The first half of this book goes back about three years giving us the history we need to set the stage of Tucker and Sage’s lives. I do have to admit that I was a little confused at times with all the secondary characters, trying to get them straight and how they are all tied together. But once we got to the present day, I had it all figured out and it’s here where things really got good. By this point I was fully invested and couldn’t stop thinking about these two and their friends.
Tucker and Sage were both broken in their own ways but they found acceptance in each other, that missing piece you never knew you were looking for. This book is both heartbreaking and joyous. They were both so dedicated to doing what they knew they had to do, they put their own happiness on hold. But in doing that, it made their reward all the sweeter. I loved the way this ended and I closed the book with a big smile on my face. I may have even sighed a couple of times. This is definitely one of those books that I will continue to think about for some time and I’m so glad I had the opportunity to read it.
“One dream. One hope. One wish. For this to become us.”
I received a complimentary ARC – early release copy of this book in Kindle format from the author for review purposes.
So this book is hard to review because its part of a series and honestly while it starts in the beginning of the middle of the last book, at times if I had not read that book I would have still been lost. So while its supposed to stand alone, truly you should read the previous book about Alex and Hannah. Hannah was in a band, and this story is about the band and one of her best friends and first kiss ever Tucker Decker. Hannah and Alex are in this story ALOT, ALOT, they are major players and their wedding is on hold because of events relating to this story.
Before I go on this story was absolutely awesome. If you want an uncomplicated and happy romance, thats light reading, do not read this book. It is a long story and for the first 30% Tucker and the heroine in this story, Sage have not even met yet. And also for a large portion of this story, Sage has a boyfriend in the most casual way. Its a very complicated story but it was absolutely wonderful. Maybe one of the best stories I have read by the author.
When we last left the rock group, they had a mishap in Cancun and this story starts several years before the present in the middle of Hannah and Alex’s story and shows us the repercussions from that trip and it really had far reaching consequences.
Tucker Dean Decker we met in the last book and he was an adopted kid who in the middle of his teenage years found his birth mother and went to live with her. The Decker family and after Cancun he has a break with his family and he goes to Hannah and Alex to help him find a business. The band gets split up as some of them go to rehab and some go off by themselves.
Sage is a brand new character, and she is a poor rich girl. She has an older sister Sienna and she was abused by her ex husband. She has dumped the rich life and now lives in a small town with her grandparents, helping them with their bookstore. She loves her sister but they have a distance between them.
And I am sorry that is all I can say about the story without giving out spoilers. I loved how strong Sage is even while at times she struggles with what to do. And my gosh Tucker, is so loving and wonderful, what he goes through in this story was very intense but he never gives up and he is so their for his best friends. And Hannah and Alex, those two were so there for their friends when they needed it.
This is a very intense story. Its about love, family and friendship and about being there for your friends in times of happiness and in times when they struggle. It was a very intense story but also awesome.
Oh my heart. Claudia Burgoa had me all up in my feels with Tucker and Sage’s book. Us After You had me on a rollercoaster of emotion and I find that the author never fails to amaze me with her writing. I have so much love for Tucker and Sage. Their romance had a rocky start but as time went on it bloomed and it was beautiful. Claudia Burgoa had me enthralled and I seriously couldn’t put the book down. This is a 5 plus star read.
This book was beautiful and heartbreaking all at the same time, I had to read it in one sitting because I was blown away by this story! grab some tissues and be ready for this wonderful story!
US AFTER YOU by Claudia Burgoa is the story of Sage Heywood and Tucker Decker.
Tucker was once a part of the successful band called ‘Seattle Sinners’ and they became his family after a break from his own family. Now in their present day the band has broken up but their connection hasn’t. Sage doesn’t trust easily if ever after an abusive relationship and family that were indifferent to her. Sage and Tucker have to come together to help baby Mae who have been left in their care after a tragedy happens. Although they are very attracted to each other they try to ignore it because each has past issues that is effecting their present day. But they can’t stop it for long before they are giving into their feelings. This book does jump aback and forth through their past to the present. Overall enjoyed their story.
Us After You is such an emotional and beautiful story. Claudia takes us on a winding road of life full of laughter, love and pain. You can’t have one without the others and this book is as real as it gets.
I cried both inside and out while reading this. I rejoiced in the miracle of life and hurt for these characters who are as real to me as actual friends. The deep and abiding friendship and love that they share is so heartwarming and makes me, like Sage, want to be a part of their family.
This is a book you want to read, believe me, you will emerge a better person after having read it. You will have more empathy for people suffering from drug addiction and depression. Every day is a gift and we must live and treasure each and every one.
When Sage’s sister leaves her and Tucker as joint guardians, they need to sacrifice themselves in order to protect and keep the baby safe. This is a unique and beautifully written story which this gifted author has out done herself in penning this tale. This story is an emotional roller coaster journey throughout, as well as having witty banter, heartbreak, drama, angst, undeniable attraction, and love which all lead to a humorous and entertaining read. This story had me totally mesmerized throughout and I highly recommend for all.
I enjoyed reading this. It starts of with a description of the past and how Sage and Tucker came to be in each other’s lives. They’re the epitome of people coming into each other’s lives and being exactly what the other needed. They may not have asked for this but in the face of tragedy they come together and it’s oh, so sweet. It’s a slow burn though and lots happens between the beginning and when they actually come together but I became invested and found myself smiling half the time.
I just finished listening to the audio of it and it brings a whole new meaning to the story. The narrators did such a great job of bringing the characters to life I practically couldn’t stop listening. I loved this!
