A story of survival, humor and true love. And zombies.*****The series is now complete! So Long, Lollipops (Book 1.5 – novella): http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00ILKGJ6UAnd After (Book 2): http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00KBWPHA0All the Stars in the Sky (Book 3): http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00SW4K268*****Cassie Forrest isn’t surprised to learn that the day she’s decided to get her life together is also the day … decided to get her life together is also the day the world ends. After all, she’s been on a self-imposed losing streak since her survivalist parents died: she’s stopped painting, broken off her engagement to Adrian and dated a real jerk. Rectifying her mistakes has to wait, however, because Cassie and her friends have just enough time to escape Brooklyn for her parents’ cabin before Bornavirus LX turns them into zombies, too.
This is difficult enough, but Cassie’s tag along ex-boyfriend and her friend’s bratty sister have a knack for making everything, even the apocalypse, more unpleasant. When the two attract a threat as deadly as the undead to their safe haven, Cassie’s forced to see how far she’ll go to protect those she loves. And it’s a lot farther than she’d anticipated. This, coupled with Adrian’s distant voice on Safe Zone Radio and, of course, the living dead, threaten to put Cassie right back into the funk she just dragged herself out of.
Survival’s great and all, especially when you have leather armor, good friends and home-brewed beer, but there’s something Cassie must do besides survive: tell Adrian she still loves him. And to do that, Cassie has to find faith that she’s stronger than she thinks, she’s still a crack shot and true love never dies.

I really enjoyed reading this story. I loved it so much that I continued on and read the rest of the books in the series.
Even though it is a zombie book, the real story is the people. Loved it!
Fantastic series! Purchased the rest after getting the first for free. Excellent zombie series.
Good read!
Boring. Got 100 pages in and still nothing had happened. Not worth the time. Did not capture my attention nor did I care about the characters.
Good
There are a few editing glitches in this book, but the story more than makes up for it. The characters and world feel real, and the pacing was such that I would frequently lose track of time and meals, just to finish one more chapter. Well done!
This is one of the best written books I have read and have been an avid reader for about fifty years. Dry hard to put down.
Not as good as I had hoped.
A Wholesome romance story about the Zombie apocalypse. Well written, decent character development. A pleasant read. I enjoyed it. Uncertain about reading book 2.
Not really a zombie story…more of a love and relationship story…I couldn’t get into the story line of the book…it was happily executed in the delete file of my Kindle…
I hate calling this a zombie book because it’s so much more then that. The characters are just regular people doing the best they can to live through a zombie apocalypse. Cassie and gang are the kind of people you want to have a bbq with and hang with in the backyard. This book made me cry a few times and laugh even more.
Fun read. A bit too much “Does he like me? Does he like like me?” kind of things. But they were easy to skip over.
This little book is a gem full of great characters. Some you love right away, some you can’t stand – every single one of them is interesting. Lovely character arcs that are not hurried in order to “get to the good parts” because it’s all good. The love story is angsty enough, and hopeful enough, to make you think true love can survive despite the end of the world. And there’s lots of adventure that is relatable for those of us who are not as prepared as we know we should be to ride out the zombie apocalypse but still like to think that we will. And don’t get me started on the audiobooks… they’re amazing.
Simply the best zompoc out there, Relatable characters who will become your people. The character development from book one to the final book, All the Stars in the Sky is heart warming and truly believable. I re-read this entire series a couple times a year, this is my safe zone, these are my people.
Love this book. Sarah Fleming knows how to grip you right into her books. Can’t wait to read the rest of the series.
Reminds me of the walking dead série, with a good character grow
Best. Series. Ever.
The book is filled with believable, strong characters, although a few felt a little flat. Initially I thought some might be archetypes from cliched slasher movies, but that fear turned out to be false. I was very happy to find that I was anxious to get back to reading to find out what happens next. Since lately I’ve been reading a lot of give-away promotional books, I’ve grown to not expect much in characters or plot. This has plenty of both (even though it was free). I knew going in that it was a part of a post-apocalypse series (I don’t usually read series books), but I was pleased that unlike most of that genre I’ve read, this had genuine plot and was not filled with endless gory fights. There were minimal encounters with the walking undead and fairly brief descriptions of the violence. The story, the humor, and the feelings of the characters were obviously more important to the writer than the rending of flesh. As an indication of how much I enjoyed this book, I went ahead and bought the other two and a half books in the series.
By far my favorite book EVER! and there are Zombies!!!
