She was the witch in the woods but it took a brave warrior to look closely at the beauty she held within her hooded cape. A great read about how not all looks as it seems.
Enjoyed reading ,although a little slow I did like it.
I almost stopped reading the book after the first few hours, due to the graphic sexual content. Instead, I simply skipped over them to read the main parts. I would give it a 3.5 due to this. However, the story line did keep me reading.
Enjoyed the book.
Shoney and Ronan
This story started out exciting and it got better from there, a real page turner :-). Descriptions were so good that I could see the cliffs in my mind. Not so fond of the cover. The dress was just too nice. The next book teaser at the end of the book was good.
I finished it — barely. It was too facile a conclusion. If she is a practicing pagan, and he belongs to a christian tribe, how then are they all so accepting of her? She doesn’t go to their church, she doesn’t convert. Christians are more likely to have at the least exiled her, and more likely killed her than to cheerfully allow someone different from them to live there and marry their lord.
Also, the trope of the one person who knows all about herbs, and her herbs magically cure everything is tiresome. Yes, herbal medicines help, but there’s a reason modern science learned to purify the specific components outs of the natural plant.
I enjoyed listening to Paul Woodson as he told the story. His changes in voice were wide ranged and helped me keep the characters separate. The story itself was good, and I loved both Shoney and Ronan. They are so different in most aspects but also complement each other. With visions, deaths, illnesses, and biases, there are some darker moments. Love helps conquer these and bring light to a couple, clan, and family. I recommend this story and will be looking to read the rest of the series.
I received a copy of this audiobook as a gift, and this is my unsolicited review.
