The original facts and details of the Titanic disaster from the newspapers of the world bring forward the story in a vivid and striking way! Join the news stories in action as the first reports told of the RMS Titanic being towed to Halifax and all the passengers saved in erroneous first reports. Learn how the survivors were saved and about the heroes of the night who sacrificed their own lives … own lives so that others may live.
The story of the heroes and the wonderful new wireless device that was so critical in saving lives as well as startling new details of a fire on board the Titanic which had been burning since the ship left port in Southampton. These details and others were on the front pages of great newspapers beginning hours after the ship sank. The U.S. Senate convened a hearing three days following the plunge to the ocean floor by the greatest ship ever built to that day.
Why did Capt. Smith ignore warnings of ice fields ahead?
Why were there only enough lifeboats for one-third of the passengers?
Was the ship speeding?

Excellent
Historically accurate and informative. Short and easy to read.
I had to keep reminding myself that this book was true. It was done well.
This book grabbed my attention right from the start.
I have always wanted to find out the full story about the TITANIC. I have always been interested in the reports of the TITANIC, the investigations, rumors that were true or not.
To see the actual news articles is something that I appreciate.
I am glad that they made new laws regarding having enough life boats on a ship for ALL the passengers.
I also like that the wireless communications were installed on ships.
When I was in high school and I did not want others to read what I was saying–I would pass notes to my friends using Morse Code.
So much information that I was not aware of.
Enjoyable reading.
For a different and unbiased version of this story, this perhaps the book you should read.
Explains why the Titanic sank – finally! And shows press releases and why so much of it was wrong. Lists the myths at the end that were debunked.
Historical. Tragic journey. Informative. Never travel on the oceans.
Found the format interesting as it clearly showed how many myths arose (and are still in circulation) due to the media reporting/misreporting of the Titanic tragedy. Would have liked more of the enquiry results but will now look elsewhere for those. Will also check for similar books by this author.
Great book
I learned a fair amount of the events preceding the sailing, in the midst of the wreck, and the aftermath. Easy read.
Fascinating to learn so many details about passengers, the Titanic, efforts to help, what went wrong and why. A lot of unusual ‘behind the scenes’ information. Highly recommend.
As a Titanic fan, I found this book to reveal more facts about this tragedy. anyone who follows this event will enjoy the book which has compiled all media coverage in a easy to follow order.
Very good book.
Amazing compilation of contemporary accounts of the sinking of the Titanic. Takes you back to the trip and the decisions which contributed to the disaster. A balanced picture which includes the heroes, the villains, and the host of in-betweens who made a string of fateful choices on which so many lives hung. Well-written, manageable size for a cross-country plane trip.,
It’s a compiling of “news” articles about the disaster; from the first “all were saved” error to a copy & paste of comments left about the compelling movie and the actual disaster.
I’ve been fascinated by the Titanic since I was twelve, & while I did learn something new from the book I felt like I’d just finished reading my niece’s essay about it.
I under the author is a well known and gifted journalist, but based on this book, I’m not likely to read more of his work, non-fiction or otherwise.
Boring
Interesting spin on the titanic by looking into new articles. At times though I felt like the chapters bounced around and didn’t give much detail.
This was pretty interesting and informative but could do with better editing.
