‘Twas the weekend before Christmas, when all through the North End
Not a Walsh had his life together, not even his friends;
The parties were planned by the foodies with care,
In hopes that Wes and Erin would soon find their way there;
The men were stressing over last minute shopping lists and plans,
While the ladies were busy with work and nesting and finding the right paella pans;
When out in … right paella pans;
When out in the dining room there arose such a clatter,
The Halsted dogs sprang from their beds to see what was the matter;
They whistled and shouted and called each other names,
While the secrets and announcements and surprises quickly came;
So onto another adventure they flew
With the sleigh full of Walshes, and the Commodore too—
As they continued arguing and clamoring around,
Down the road an unexpected visitor came with a bound;
But it wasn’t long until couples were all nestled snug in their beds,
With new memories of steamy holiday nights dancing in their heads.

I LOVED IT!! If you haven’t read the Walsh Family series, Please do yourself a huge favor and start with Underneath It All. This is one of the best series EVER. There are spoilers in THRESHOLDS.
This book is a gigantic Christmas gift to the readers. Warm, wonderful and exciting. I was engrossed from the start and pretty much read it in one sitting, it required staying up very late but I’m dedicated that way, ha! Whatever you’re reading, this is better. I won’t say more than that because it should hit you blind.
Thresholds is not a standalone. I would recommend having some prior Walsh experience to fully enjoy each moment of this book.
In Thresholds, we get to see everyone during the Christmas rush in Boston. New friends are introduced a bit more and we get updates on old favorites. The book is told from multiple points of view, some are familiar, some are new.
Thresholds had me tearing up, in heartbreak, then from laughter. I was devouring each word. I’ve been a huge fan of Ms. Canterbary’s writing style since book 1, and Thresholds is no exception. I simply could NOT put it down. The Walsh Universe is one I could happily get stuck in and never leave.
Thresholds is paced evenly, laugh out loud funny at points, and gasp worthy at others. I loved getting to know a few characters a bit better, and to be in their head felt like an experience of a lifetime. I can say, I will never get sick of this family, and will gladly accept any scrap of the Walshes Ms. Canterbary is willing to give.
I feel like this is a punchline to a joke. Instead of three men walk into a bar, three Walsh men walk into a lingerie store….
It begins with Judy’s Christmas letter, and ends with me in tears. Every member of the family is represented here.
Twists, turns surprises, and two things that I am DYING to know the answer to. But no spoilers here. Just, go forth and read this. Make cookies, make eggnog, and between baking batches, curl up with this.
I’m a Grinch, and this almost makes me want a holiday.
5/5: What can I say about the Walshes that hasn’t been said? You laugh, you cry, you get hot and bothered . . . But seriously, the catch up with the Walsh clan isn’t just amazing or a rehashing of the past but new fun and exciting updates with a lot of sexy times thrown in. They are such different characters but they make total sense as a chaotic family. The relationships all have their quirks and that’s what makes them so great. No spoilers from me but a total MUST READ recommendation.
This is the book you didn’t know you were waiting for.
I missed the Walshes but I wanted to be patient as the writer lady is busy and waits for them to speak to her. Apparently, they all were yelling in SHOUTY CAPS and we all benefited from it.
I hate to say that I didn’t want it end, because that’s not fair to the author but in reality, I did not want it to end.
This is the perfect book for anyone that loves, loves, loves the Walshes! We get a snap shot of all our favorite couples and some insight into some new characters:). As always the conversation and interaction between the characters is awesome! Kate does such a good job of keeping you involved in the story with witty banter and sweet, sexy times. This book is like seeing a bunch of old friends a party and catching up, and the holiday theme makes it perfect! Enjoy and happy holidays!
The Holidays are a time to relax and spend time with family and friends. Imagine how excited I was when I discovered that I would have time with one of my favorite families, The Walshes.
Thresholds (Book 8) cannot be read as a standalone. There are too many spoilery type things. However, if you are a Walsh groupie like I am, you’ll want to push that wrapping paper aside, grab a beverage, and snuggle up with this story.
Thresholds gives us multiple points of view from some of our very favorites, PLUS a peek into the minds of characters who now have a few things to add. We get swoony moments. We get sentimental moments. We get sexy moments that keep these guys on the NAUGHTY list. We get awkward moments. We get shenanigans. We get surprises. The Walshes put the fun in holiday disfunction!
Kate Canterbary has a way of creating characters and stories that stay with you long after you finish reading. Thresholds is just one example of this, and I hope you’ll take a chance and experience the magic, too.
I don’t know when I’ve had such a good time reading a book. It was so much fun reading the Walsh family Christmas antics. The individual vignettes along with the family gatherings brought the whole holiday feel to another level. There is usual joy and nostalgia associated with the holidays, some steamy sexy encounters and some poignant, romantic moments.
This book was worth the wait! So much fun to have a Holiday with all the Walshes!
Thresholds is the perfect holiday gift for all Walsh lovers! This book was an unexpected surprise for the holidays. If you are a fan of the Walshes and Kate Canterbary, READ THIS BOOK! All the characters we love from the series come together for the holidays, and a couple new faces as well. A fun holiday read! I loved it.
The Walsh’s are back!! This author once again transports you back into the world of bitey, growly, and absolutely delicious Walsh men, and it’s 100% amazing!! Do yourself a favor and read the entire series FIRST, you don’t wanna miss these stories.
The Walsh family is back and you can’t help but love them. I couldn’t get enough of having my favorite family back in my hands once again. I love any time we get a glimpse into their lives. There is just something about them that I can’t help but love. The whole book had me laughing and loving that we got to see into their lives around the holiday. We get different points of views of most of the characters and oh did I love. I couldn’t help but love Patrick even more after this book. I hope we get more from this family because like always, writer lady have to leave you with some questions about the future.
4.5 Stars
Thresholds is sure to delight, Kate Canterbary throws readers back into the crazy, quirky, loving world that is the Walshes.
Told in multiple points of view, I was completely captivated and enthralled from the very first chapter.
Full of fun, shenanigans, heat and steam, this glimpse in to a holiday with the Walshes is sure to delight anyone familiar with the series.
Through the complete disregard for boundaries, banter, arguments and camaraderie I found myself smiling, giggling and laughing out loud. The men continue to be alpha’s through and through, and the women who own their hearts continue to be sassy, and fun. I will be eagerly awaiting further titles by this very talented author, who’s characters have captured my heart.
This is a great Christmas romance by Kate Canterbary! Thesholds is the eighth book in The Walshes series and is definitely as good as the rest of books.
It’s Christmas time and everyone is finishing up their work week and getting ready to celebrate with friends and family. The guys thought getting together and going shopping for their women together was the best way to handle the possibility of making a gift giving mistake, but they are all in for a few surprises. You just never know what you are going to get with the Walshes and those who love them. I loved revisiting the Walsh family and all of their loved ones.
I was given an ARC from the author/publisher. All conclusions are mine and mine alone.
Thresholds is everything I never knew I always wanted from the Walsh gang! I’m beyond delighted to have this new addition to the series and am so profoundly happy with all the new developments with everyone in the family. Kate Canterbary is just fantastic at her craft; she delivers a fun, festive, and super sexy read to help you get in the holiday mood. I want to say so much more but at the risk of letting any spoilers slip, let’s just say I’ve said all the good things about this book (because it deserves nothing less).
Fun holiday romp and SO MUCH MORE!
I fell in love with the Walsh clan many moons ago reading “Underneath It All”. Matt Walsh was the best book boyfriend I had ever had. (Then I met Sam, Nick, Will and Riley…) The one Walsh man I could never quite wrap my brain around was Patrick. He was swoon worthy but I don’t think I was in the right place to understand him in “The Space Between”. Well, that changed COMPLETELY reading “Thresholds”. It was as if Patrick’s layers were peeled away and the very soul was revealed. And I loved what I saw.
They’re a millions things that I want to say about this book: I want to talk about Judy and the Commodore and their love story, how they have adopted the ENTIRE Walsh family, and their relationship with Will and Shannon. I want to talk about all the babies born and babies yet to come, the nervous father to be, the want to be groom(s), the new characters introduced who must have amazing back-stories. The Walsh universe (and Walsh adjacent universe) is so rich and colorful and brimming with life that I cannot wait to see what is next.
“Thresholds” is a must buy. To see everyone again and to get a glimpse into his or her lives was an unexpected but magical experience. Thank you Kate for giving us this family and for giving us a holiday treat.
I read this book in 3 hours. I would recommend that any new readers, start at the beginning of this series.
Absolutely EVERY book written by Kate Canterbary is wonderful. The only negative… she doesn’t write fast enough!!!!
This book is a reunion of all Walsh siblings with a touch of more friends and family.
An amazing Christmas reunion with all of them. Not one of the siblings was forgotten, they all got a part in this wonderful book. I definitely recommend that you read the series to appreciate and love the family. I have a wonderful gut feeling that there is more to come and this is not the end of walshery
All of the Walsh clan and their significant others return for the eighth book in this series. With a little insight into each of their personal relationships since we last enjoyed them, as well as, the prerequisite Monday morning staff meeting, this book had me feeling like I was home again.
Normally, I would give a brief synopsis of each of the main characters but this one presented viewpoints for each of the characters I have loved throughout this series. We are introduced to a new character whose personality weaves well into the Walsh cloth. Another character that has only been briefly visited before makes an appearance in greater detail.
Riley has been my favorite Walsh since the beginning (not to say I don’t love them all) but his awkwardness makes him very endearing. In this book, he doesn’t disappoint, as his personality shines through in true-Riley fashion.
I highly recommend this book along with all of the others by this author. The world she has created is amazing and very descriptive, so much I can picture every little detail of a place I’ve never visited.
With the holidays upon us, now would be a great time to add this book to your list of must-reads.
I have read everything this author has written and am starved for more. I am excited to see what’s next!
In my opinion, the best so far of the series! Love this Writer Lady!
