When Angela met Jason Powell while catering a dinner party in East Hampton, she assumed their romance would be a short-lived fling, like so many relationships between locals and summer visitors. To her surprise, Jason, a brilliant economics professor at NYU, had other plans, and they married the following summer. For Angela, the marriage turned out to be a chance to reboot her life. She and her son were finally able to move out of her mother’s home to Manhattan, where no one knew about her tragic past.
Six years later, thanks to a bestselling book and a growing media career, Jason has become a cultural lightning rod, placing Angela near the spotlight she worked so carefully to avoid. When a college intern makes an accusation against Jason, and another woman, Kerry Lynch, comes forward with an even more troubling allegation, their perfect life begins to unravel. Jason insists he is innocent, and Angela believes him. But when Kerry disappears, Angela is forced to take a closer look—at both the man she married and the women she chose not to believe.
This much-anticipated follow-up to Burke’s Edgar-nominated The Ex asks how far a wife will go to protect the man she loves: Will she stand by his side, even if he drags her down with him?

A must read. Alafair Burke is a fantastic story teller!
So what?
It was not one of my favorites but it was not bad.
A very good psychological thriller/mystery. You might think this is a familiar story, but it’s not.
I listened on Audible, and the audiobook had an excellent narrator.
I love everything she writes. Her books guarantee a good mystery adventure, and this is one of her best.
I had a hard time putting this book down!! This book did not disappoint. After reading a few books by this author, I was expecting something, but not what actually happened.
Some parts were predictable; some parts were horrifying.
I really enjoyed the author’s writing style, deep and twisted turns, and the constant skepticism I felt about all the characters: who was telling the truth? Who could be trusted? Read it for yourself and find out. 😉
Not the twisty thriller I was hoping for. For me, there were no surprises.
Cliffhanger ending! I absolutely hate that. Having said that the book had lots of details and kept my interest until the end. I consider books like that to be a waste of my time.
Interesting, couldn’t put down. Had an ending I half-way expected, but hoped wouldn’t happen. Really liked the characters.
Interesting take on Me Too movement
Well done and easy read
She hit it out of the park with this book! I could not put it down!
It kept my interest all the way through and I liked the surprise ending
it was ok…took awhile to get into it. the ending…WOW
This book has a lot of different back stories and they help tell the story. The Wife is full of twists you don’t expect and the final twist will leave you wanting the book to continue.
It had so many twists and turns. I never could have guessed the ending. Reminds me of books by Mary Higgins Clark.
I couldn’t wait to get home to read and finish it.
this was a good book but I was not happy with the ending
A page turner. Great ending!
