From New York Times bestselling author Katy Regnery…In this modern-retelling of “Beauty and the Beast,” Savannah Carmichael, betrayed by an unreliable source, returns to her hometown of Danvers, Virginia with her once-promising journalism career in ruins. Given the opportunity to get back in the game by writing a patriotic human interest piece, Savannah turns her attention to the town hermit, … town hermit, Asher Lee, a wounded veteran who returned to Danvers eight years ago, and hasn’t been seen since.
After an IED explosion in Afghanistan took Asher’s hand and disfigured half of his face, he’s lived a quiet life on the outskirts of Danvers where the locals respect his privacy…that is, until Savannah Carmichael comes calling in a borrowed sundress with a plate of homemade brownies. When Asher agrees to be interviewed by Savannah, he starts feeling things for the beautiful reporter that he hasn’t felt in years.
Misfits in small-town Danvers, Savannah and Asher create a bond right away, touching each other’s hearts in ways neither thought possible. When a terrible mistake threatens to drive them apart, they’ll have to decide if the love they found in one another’s arms is strong enough to fight for their hard-won happily ever after.

This is one of the books that make me love reading! A Beauty & the Beast story, but also two wounded souls finding each other & over coming their differences. There are always lots to overcome, but I really enjoyed their story. This was the 1st book I read by Katy Regnery & I so enjoyed her writing, that since I wrote my original review, have read …

Story 4 out of 5 stars
Very poignant story.
I’m not going to get into too much detail since this book has been out for awhile and already has plenty of reviews.
It was very poignant and heartfelt.
I really liked Asher and found him to be such a compelling character. I hurt …
love the book
Best book ever I didn’t want it to end
one of the best books I have read. I highly recommend it to all that like a good romance. I normally don’t write a comment but this book certainly deserved one.
A few chapters in I was ready to stop as it just did not grab me, but as this was the first I read of Katy Regnery I carried on to the end. The writing is smooth and easy to read. I had some questions with the plot line and the actions – or inaction – of Savannah. Her family is portrayed as being decent and empathetic, but her younger sister says …
Very good, very emotional book. You really get in to the thoughts and feelings of
the characters.
The retelling of fairy tales is not usually high on my list of favorites for some weird reason but…I love Katy Regnery AND I had a challenge to read a book based on a fairy tale this month so I dove in. I am so darned happy I did. This book just drew me in. Everyone knows the story of The Beauty and The Beast and I remember a television show …
Well written
Subterfuge, or lack of honesty, will bite you in the butt, especially when you’re in a romance novel. Each opening themselves up to the world and to each other was a wonderful journey.
Very Good! Well worth reading again and again!
Pleasant surprise! A different romance novel.
Nice twist on the beauty & the beast
Couldn’t put it down. Most enjoyable easy read.
It was amazing. I’ve always loved Ms Regenery’s books, but this one is off the charts! Highly recommend a great read.
One of my favorite authors does it again. Beautifully written love story.
Great romance. Both are heart broken for different reasons. He’s lonely and tragically wounded. she’s heart broken and lied to made to look the fool (Not by the hero). They find love and acceptance within each other.
Great book, kept me interested through the whole thing!!
This was a well written romace that led me emotionally through every aspect imaginable, laughter, tears and smiles. The ending was filled with important information regarding institutions or organizations that help veterans. Thank you for your book, sharing such great stories while helping others. What a gift shared.
typical romance. Nothing new here
