LOVE LOVE LOVE Jane Austen
One of the best books I have ever read–and reread. So much has been already been written about Austen, I can only add that if you haven’t read it, try and it and see if it doesn’t have you laughing out loud. A thoroughly satisfying reading experience.
I mean I know it’s a classic but it’s as boring as watching paint dry. Dante was way before her time and he was very entertaining.
I love this book, one of my favorite classics. It’s all about relationships and marriage.
If you haven’t read (if you haven’t re-read it multiple times, you’re missing out!
I have read this book several times and I always find something new or I find myself taking a different perspective regarding the characters and situations. People and Human Nature remain the same, regardless of the era you’re reading about; making Jane Austen’s characters easy to relate to even in today’s world. Comedy, drama, romance, rivalry, deception, mystery…it’s ALL in there! This story is a timeless classic, written by an author with clear insight about how she precisely wanted to develop her characters and garner the interest of her readers. The older English might be a detriment to some, but I encourage those people to persevere…it will become easier to understand as you delve deeper into the story. Memorable characters and story…no wonder this author’s stories are still so revered two centuries later!!!
Such a great book. Love the story told here. The heroine remained true to herself. The hero loved and respected her for it.
This is one of those classics you just have to have read in your life.
As a young girl (about 12y), I tried reading ‘Pride& Prejudice, but had great difficulty with the archaic English (English is not my mother tongue).
I threw it aside after just a few chapters.
A couple of years later I saw one of the movies, finally understood the story and read the book again.
Now, I really enjoy Austen’s works, seen (pretty much) all the movie adaptations and am working my way through all her books (again).
I love that Jane Austen’s heroines are strong, independent females who have minds of their own and aren’t afraid to express their opinions. In the era when she wrote, this was completely outside of the norm. She is a fantastic writer who was way ahead of her time.
