From New York Times bestselling author Katy Regnery…In this modern-retelling of “Beauty and the Beast,” Savannah Carmichael, betrayed by an unreliable source, returns to her hometown of Danvers, Virginia with her once-promising journalism career in ruins. Given the opportunity to get back in the game by writing a patriotic human interest piece, Savannah turns her attention to the town hermit, … town hermit, Asher Lee, a wounded veteran who returned to Danvers eight years ago, and hasn’t been seen since.
After an IED explosion in Afghanistan took Asher’s hand and disfigured half of his face, he’s lived a quiet life on the outskirts of Danvers where the locals respect his privacy…that is, until Savannah Carmichael comes calling in a borrowed sundress with a plate of homemade brownies. When Asher agrees to be interviewed by Savannah, he starts feeling things for the beautiful reporter that he hasn’t felt in years.
Misfits in small-town Danvers, Savannah and Asher create a bond right away, touching each other’s hearts in ways neither thought possible. When a terrible mistake threatens to drive them apart, they’ll have to decide if the love they found in one another’s arms is strong enough to fight for their hard-won happily ever after.

Beautiful and heartwarming! A couple you can really root for. Truly a modern fairy tale!
An exceptional story filled with Southern charm mixed with the horrors of war injuries. Think Beauty and the Beast, but this is so much more. When the heroine looses her investigative reporting job in NYC, she returns home to help her sister plan her wedding. Things go sideways when she gets a chance to interview a veteran in order to get a job. …
This book was a twist of Beauty and the Beast in a modern way. It really touches on reality and how some people are ostracized from society because of their disabilities or other factors. However this author made us see that despite those things, such people can be loved just like anyone else. This story was a heart warming and touching one and …
I loved this book so much. It was like a warm bath of happiness for me. I loved every second of it. A Beauty and the Beast take-off.
Loved it!
Savannah was a top investigative reporter for NY’s top paper. But she was done wrong by her boyfriend Patrick and she lost everything. Her job, her boyfriend and her reputation. Now she is back home in Virginia to lick her wounds.
When Savannah gets a chance to get back into the game, she thinks there is nothing that will stop her from getting …
If you love romances with a Beauty and the Beast theme (as I do!), this is definitely one to add to your shelf.
5 “You’re an alien” Stars. This modern retelling of Beauty and the Beast was great. Asher and Savannah are two broken and battered beings, albeit in different ways, who have returned home to lick their wounds. Asher, the beast, was once a hometown hero, high school football star, UVa grad, and off to med school. Then 9/11 happens and instead of …
This book grabbed you from the beginning. Loved the characters and the twist and turns they went through for their HEA. I like it wasn’t an easy read and that the characters had to work for the HEA. It dealt sensitively with PTSD in a realistic way.
This was a really good book. I thoroughly enjoyed it. It reminded me of the Phantom of the Opera story (which is a favorite of mine). I am looking forward to reading more in the series and more books by this author. Nicely done!
“What are we doing?” she asked, locking her hands around his neck. “I’m ruining you,” he said unflinchingly, “for anyone else.”
To say that I loved this book would be an understatement. Fairytale retellings generally aren’t my thing because if you have read one you have read them all. Now, I would like to say how wrong I was!! The Vixen and the …
The Vixen and the Vet by Katy Regnery is the first book in the series, A Modern Fairytale. This is a Beauty and the Beast retelling.
Savannah Carmichael is twenty six years old and was a successful investigative reporter for a newspaper in New York until she trusted the one person that was supposed to love her, and her career was ruined. With …
Absolutely loved this book. Informative .
A most enjoyable read. I could not put it down.
WOW, greatest love story ever. great characters ever, did not want to put down.
I love it when a book can make me cry, laugh, sigh and at the end rejuvenate me. This book had it all. I was taken back by its lack of cliché and instead, it’s full package of reality, one that I didn’t know about. This book made me understand why people can keep living, when their lives have been torn apart, because there’s always something …
loved it!!!
I thought this book was so well written. Should be turned in to a Hallmark movie.
Interesting premise, but just didn’t work for me.
Read tons of romantic novels. l believe characters were not described as well as they could have been. I had to use my imagination a lot to picture the main characters. For this reason, it was hard for me to get into at the beginning but later was drawn in because of the love interest.
