A tropical paradise turns deadly.Service dog trainer Marcia Banks had thought it was the perfect arrangement—stay on her client’s private Gulf-coast island and get the human phase of the training done more quickly, while enjoying a much-needed break from the chaos of house renovations back home. This certainly wasn’t the tranquil getaway she’d envisioned, however. Two resident ghosts, a sour-puss … ghosts, a sour-puss housekeeper and bearing witness to her client’s shaky marriage are bad enough. But within days, she’s discovered even deeper and darker layers of dysfunction.
Via emails and static-filled phone calls, fiancé Will Haines convinces her to get herself and her dog Buddy out of there, but before Marcia can accomplish this, a late-season hurricane abruptly changes course and strands them on the island… with a murderer.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It’s about a service dog trainer that trains dogs for veterans with PTSD. She is on an island with her client when a storm hits. There is a mystery to be solved in the middle of everything. Her boyfriend is a law enforcement officer and I enjoyed that aspect of the story also. I would definitely enjoy reading more of this series because I love dogs. This is a Marcia Banks and Buddy Mystery.
WOW! WOW! WOW! WOW! WOW! Keep going on….. to infinity!
Wow! I am now following this author. My first with her. There are no words for me to use to express how ???????, excited, amazed, etc. I am. I purposely slow downed my reading so I could enjoy the book even more.
Just when you think you know what is happening (and might be a bit too easy), there is plot twist that has you thinking something else. So you finally get caught up and rethink what you were thinking, putting it all together and think you have it now. Guess what another plot twist. This one came out of nowhere.
While all this is going there is a hurricane and ghosts to deal with too.
I love the inclusion of social topics (read the book to see what I am alluding to) and the teaching of service animals. I love the Native American input especially the view in this book. Wonderful concept that I am still thinking about. Again read the book.
This may be book seven in the series but it is my first and I can say that yo can read this book by itself and follow along just fine. like me you will probably want to go back and read the previous books. (Love the Dogs on the covers)
This is my honest and freely given review. I did receive an ARC book.
Marcia and Buddy are on an island to do some work and hopefully relax some. But that is not meant to be. Just when things really get going a hurricane hits! Can they make it off the island before that happens? I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
The Sound and the Furry may be the best book yet in this cozy mystery series. I loved it! This time Marcia and Buddy are on an island to work with an assistance dog and her new owner. A hurricane is brewing, but another storm is taking place within the household. The writing is powerful and skillful. The plot is tight and multi-layered, and the characters are well developed and believable. It was an enjoyable read and I’m looking forward to future installments. I received this book free and chose to make a voluntary, unbiased review.
Kassandra Lamb writes books that flow well, are interesting, have good, believable characters and have a good story-line. The Sound and the Furry: A Marcia Banks and Buddy Mystery is no exception. Marcia has been training a dog for a new client and now is the time to train the new owner and the dog together and get them to bond. The client lives on a small private island off the Gulf coast of Florida. It’s a hard job but someone has to do it. Unfortunately, things don’t always go as planned. A surly housekeeper, 2 resident ghosts, one hurricane, murder, and many secrets and also some surprises keep you interested to the very end. I would definitely recommend this cozy mystery.
Extremely well-written, this PG13 suspense tale takes about six hours to read. I received an ARC and this voluntary review is my own opinion.
