Funny. Heartfelt. Sweet.
Three months after she broke off her engagement with billionaire heir, Lucas Freeman, Vivian has finally figured out the secret to love: it doesn’t exist.
Believing that “love” is all chemical and in the mind, Vivian decides to put her theory to the test and prove that anyone can play the game and attract whoever they desire. But her two best friends, Isabella and Crystal, have other plans: to prove Vivian’s theory wrong.
While Vivian has had success playing matchmaker with new recruits to their Singles Club, her besties come up with a scheme and bet Vivian that even with her skills, there is one man she will never be able to win over: Justin Cooper— Isabella’s gorgeous workaholic boss. After seven consecutive disastrous first dates two years ago, Justin dodges advances by women daily and has no intention of getting back into the dating scene.
But their plan backfires when Vivian bargains a date with Justin by helping him with her fashionista skills and advises him on how to dress for success and score the client his business desperately needs to take his company to the next level.
After finding out that Justin is really a romantic at heart, Vivian is determined to help him find the life-partner he truly desires before she leaves for Paris in one month. Justin is focused on helping Vivian learn how to finally succeed with relationships.
Despite their growing friendship and feelings for one another, falling in love is not an option.
Will Vivian do the right thing and keep Justin in the friend zone or will she break one more heart before her move to Paris?

I have a new author (…in a sing-songy, bragging tone)..
The Singles Club is Kayley Wood’s forth book in a series. But it’s a stand alone for sure because it’s the first book that I’ve read (although books 1 – 3 are now on my TBR list and I’m dying to start book 1)!
Why did I like it? Who wouldn’t like a book that has a heroine who is coming off a broken engagement to a billionaire … who is weeks away from moving to Paris for her dream job … who runs a matchmaking service for her friends but doesn’t believe that love is more than an chemical reaction … and who is suddenly taking on her best friend’s hot boss on a dare.
…and who wouldn’t like a hero who is super kind, is questioning his ability to date without involving a disaster, and who wants nothing more than to find a love, settle down, and have kids.
Vivian and Justin star in this book, that will have you laughing out loud, cheering both of them on, and holding your breath right up to the ending?
Outside of the storyline, the reason why this book gets 5 stars from me is due to the writing and the characters. I like Ms. Wood’s writing style where the pov for each chapter switches between the characters … but more than that, the characters are realistic and her writing really brings out emotions. The supporting characters are so well written that it makes me wish that I was part of their friend group.
If you are looking for a new author … and a great book to read, this is it for you. Download immediately, settle in … but prepare yourself to go after books 1 – 3 … after you get past re-read #3!!!!
I received an ARC; this is my honest review. Kayley Wood
Warning: Do not start this book at night because you won’t be able to put it down!
I learned this the hard way! I was sucked in immediately by Vivian’s confident and generous personality, Justin’s hotness and softness, Vivian’s friends, and by Kayley Wood’s fun writing style/voice! Next thing I knew it was two in the morning!
After her broken engagement, Vivian is positive that love doesn’t exist. Her theory is that love is purely in the mind and can be explained by science and psychology. She becomes a successful matchmaker because she “knows” all the practical tips and tricks to match anyone together. But when she starts seeing things actually failing she seriously starts questioning her foolproof actions and her whole theory.
I loved this story! It was so sweet without being sugary over the top or being completely cynical. …And I even needed to dab a few tears away at the end…
Great story! I want to read every other book in this series!!
(I received a complimentary copy of this book through Hidden Gems)
A new author me. This story is about Vivian and Justin. Vivian is a fashion stylist working for Carlos Vega, a designer in Boston. Vivian and her 2 friends, Crystal and Isabella start the Singles Club: singles who want to learn how to find the right partner. Lucas is a billionaire heir and Vivian’s ex fiance. Vivian left the relationship. Justin is Isabella’s boss. He’s the owner of a successful investment company. He hadn’t had much luck in the relationship department. Justin and Vivian meet when Viv makes a bet with her Isabel that she could have a date with Isabel’s boss, Justin, within a week. I voluntarily received an arc copy of this book from HiddenGems
Delightful!
This lighthearted read will keep you turning the pages until the very end. Vivian and Justin seem to be fighting the mutual attraction between them without much success. Ms. Wood has done an excellent job of bringing both the characters and their story to life.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Kayley Wood, ‘The Singles Club’. A romantic comedy.
(‘The Club’, book 4).
As a Hidden Gems ARC reader I received a free copy and promised an honest review. Here it is.
Rating: 4 stars (of 5).
In general: Sweet love between two damaged Souls.
Main characters:
– Vivian Hall.
She’s a fashion stylist working for Carlos Vega, a designer in Boston who’s very successful in the online business. With some girlfriends (Crystal and Isabella) she started the Singles Club: single persons, who – often after one or more failures – want to learn how to find the right partner.
She loves her job in Boston but in a few weeks she’s going to work and live in Paris, paradise for a fashion stylist.
– Lucas Freeman.
He’s a billionaire’s heir and Vivian’s ex fiance. Vivian broke up their arrangement for their relationship missed real involvement and passion. So she developed a theorie that Love doesn’t exist.
– Justin Cooper.
Isabella’s boss. He’s the owner of a modest, but successful investment company. After a serious relationship ended tragically, he – at first – wanted no new commitments and focused on his work. After some time his brother persuaded him to date again, but all these dates were disastrous. So, again, his work became his first priority.
Vivian and Justin meet when Viv made a bet with her friend Isabel that she, Vivian – with her matchmaking skills she proved in the Singles Club – could have a date with Isabel’s boss, Justin, within a week. She partly succeeds and gradually they learn to know each other. Knowing each other grows up into trusting and loving. While describing these developments in an easy to read style the author, Kayley Wood, introduces some wonderful characters, funny scenes and nice dialogues.
The end was a bit predictable, but all in all, for me the book was a pleasure to read.
