The fight for survival has just begun…
Five years have passed since Ethan learned the truth of his planet’s dark history, and narrowly escaped with his life, when a burning hulk falls from the sky and impacts the derelict city on the horizon, driving inhuman creatures out of hiding. Twisted by the sickness known as the Maddening, they threaten to wipe out the fragile network of settlements … out the fragile network of settlements that survived the apocalypse.
Soon after, Maria Salus returns Planetside with horrifying news of a dark and violent treachery, and once again seeks Ethan’s help to fight a desperate battle to save the fragile remains of an ancient civilization from annihilation.
With threats closing in on two fronts, can they survive the scourge of the Maddening and defeat an old enemy bent purely on revenge?
The Second Fall is book two in the thrilling post-apocalyptic sci-fi series, The Planetsider Trilogy.

This is the second book of the Planetsider series, and oh, what a ride it is! First, I have to say I absolutely loved the author’s acknowledgment at the beginning of the book where he stated that it had taken him twenty years to write the first book of this series, stating that people shouldn’t give up if they want to write a novel and believe that they can’t. I hope his readers out there take it to heart. But now, about the story itself! This story is so full of action and drama, yet it also has lovely, small moments between the characters, many of whom we know from the first book. Ethan and Maria have both changed since the last book, and I enjoyed their interactions. I thought that the writer actually handled the “romance” aspect beautifully and in a very adult way that isn’t often seen in fiction. I like how the story could broach bigger themes in a way that isn’t preachy but was rather, instead, more quietly insightful and lets readers draw their own conclusions based on what is happening in the story. The action scenes are balanced well with the scenes that are more about the characters’ relationships. The author has a natural writing style that allows the reader to enter the book’s world quickly, even though the world itself is complex. A delightful space opera; I am looking forward to the next book in the series.

It has been five years since Ethan had learned the truth about the world and the fight for survival is just beginning. A large fire ball hits a near by city and chases out the creatures affected by the maddening thus threading their fragile system of settlements. On top of this threat, Maria comes planetside to try get him to aid in a fight against betrayal and treachery.
This is the second book in the post-apocalyptic military scI-fi series, the Planetsider Trilogy. The characters are complex, complete with positive and negative attributes. They are so full of personality that they seem to pop off the pages. The narrative is beyond amazing as it describes the scenery, the fight scenes, and the characters inner thoughts, histories and motivations. It definitely had my imagination going and had me engaged in the story. The storyline goes back on and forth between several characters, although the timeline is mostly chronological. And yet the storyline flows quickly and smoothly, filled with nonstop action, danger, emotional drama, surprises, betrayals, unexpected twists and a great deal of suspense. I enjoyed this book even more that the first as I already knew some of the characters, the political climate and the jargon, so I could concentrate on this creative and interesting story. This is wonderful book.
