When the dead can testify, their killers resort to desperate measures
The Remnant Keepers are a loathed group of telepaths, paid to read the last memories of the recently murdered. Jack Winston is one of the best and hates it. Under the scrutiny of the world’s most powerful corporation, Jack is as much a prisoner as those he helps send behind bars.
But when his latest case arrives, Jack’s world … arrives, Jack’s world shatters as his wife is brutally murdered. Fuelled by vengeance, Jack vows to catch the murderer, but as the bodies pile up, Jack realises he’s made a terrible mistake; he was never the hunter, only the hunted.
The Remnant Keeper is the first book of Tombs Rising, part of The Tombs Legacy. If you’re a fan of Torchwood, Stephen King, or The X-Files, then you’ll love a series that combines all of their best traits in a fast-paced, captivating, thrilling adventure.

I liked the concept of this book at first until the murders started. I skimmed it and skipped to the end.
An entertaining twist on telepathic powers. Kept me guessing right till the end.
I know it’s the first of a series, but seriously? You can’t end a book like that. No closure whatsoever. I’d have given it 4 stars if it weren’t for that. Parts were a bit confusing, but it was interesting to read.
The story is based on a novel, rather morbid concept — a specialized kind of telepath, a Remnant Keeper, who can see the last moments of a person’s life by temporarily replacing one of his eyes with a specially preserved eye from the deceased subject. What starts as a routine reading of a dead woman’s final minutes rapidly takes a tragic and terrifying turn. Keeps you guessing and biting your nails right up to the end.
Interesting story.
I really enjoyed this book. It was a very interesting sci-fi exploration that I had not seen in the genre. The plot was unpredictable and the characters were difficult to like and root for at times but the author was able to explore a new area of the future that I had not thought about. I found it thought provoking that that one day we will have may live in a totally virtual world, but unfortunately we will not be here to see it.
I can usually slog thru any book-not this one. Half way in and I am still clueless. Confusing and indecipherable as to what is going on. No thanks
Unique story idea
The eye does not record anything it sees. The belief is that the last image is still on the retina. So, beyond this factor, I enjoyed the book. But wearing another person’s eye, temporarily is too far out there for me. When I took that notion with a grain of salt, I did enjoy the novel. Next, I suppose we will wear another’s ear drum, to hear what they heard in the process of being murdered? Not hardly.
Started it … gave up after two chapters. Needed a lot of editing.
Interesting concept-eye removal and recovery sounds brutal-
Wonderfully written as a realistic world. The writer has the intricate knowledge of someone who has lived this tragic life as it unfold before their very eyes. Locking forward to reading more of the saga.
Started with much promise then slowed, then stopped.
Read 100% hoping it would improve. It did not.
A clone of Minority Report without the style.
An original premise, pretty good mystery, well-written.
The lessons on how to get a perspective of our life choices were inspirational. A positive attitude in difficult situations does make a difference to the result.
Original plot
The plot reveals who was the bad guy how’re the main 2 characters (cops) are pretty sure early on who was the malevolent but it is a? Of how soon they could catch him all the characters are the very well defined
Cool idea, but not especially well written. Did not like any characters and do not plan to read the rest of the series.
Very creative. SciFi at its best. It’s been a number of years since I read it, but I still remember it well. To me, that’s a sign if a great book.
