Nora Roberts is a master and this book is brilliant. The opening scene is terrifying and vivid as we watch a barley 12 year old girl discover her father is a sadistic serial killer… and then save his latest victim. I was instantly hooked and couldn’t put the book down until our heroine got her HEA. A family and crime drama as much as a romance this book had everything I love.
It holds you in suspense throughout the whole book. You dlnt know who did it til the end of book.
Well developed characters with suspense, mystery, and a little romance.
Talk about an edge-of-the-seat page turner! From start to finish this book proved why Roberts is at the top of the list in best selling fiction. This story was fresh and exciting with a huge amount of feeling and empathy. Way to go, Nora!
Naomi, an eleven-year-old girl rescues a woman her father is keeping hostage in a cellar, revealing him as a serial killer. Many years later, she tries to rebuild her life while rebuilding an old B&B in Washington State. She makes friends in the area, meets a dynamic and sexy mechanic, and life looks up. But her father’s crimes draw a sicko’s admiration, threatening Naomi and the lives of people around her. An incredible book, with vivid and stirring descriptions, amazing characters, and a surprise ending.
Riveting. I couldn’t stop reading.
I really enjoyed this book. That says it all.
A great read if you love, old houses, beautiful details, small town atmosphere, handsome guys, rehabbing and dreaming about the house, a scary past, a gutsy beautiful lady, a lost dog and friends…lots of friends.
I inhaled deeply as Naomi rehabbed an old home over time and in detail. Naomi is a photographer that never settled in one place till now. Her past, her father, are still with her, keeping her quiet and a loner….till now.
Her friendships start slowly with her carpenter, his wife and his best friend Xander.
Xander falls hard for Naomi and realizes who she really is or was when younger. This is romantic without being graphic and comes across as a real meeting of two souls. Add a lost dog, Tag, that at one point is wearing pants…hilarious! Good humor.
The love Naomi has for her uncles and her FBI brother Mason are shown throughout the book…her tragic childhood saved by her uncles…unconditional love for her and her brother.
Murders hit her new hometown and old fears surface but she isn’t alone anymore…she has a dog, friends, lover, and her brother Mason.
This is a solid book worth savoring and just immersing yourself in Naomi’s home, friends, cooking, photography, and still aware of her struggles to keep the past from controlling her.
I will reread this book again as its a big book full of love, happy ending without being sappy, and people you would love to meet !!
I love this book. I have read it and re read it over and over. This one that no matter how many times you read it you can’t put it down!
Good read
Currently reading…….
This book had me at go. Wow! What this little girl experiences at the beginning of this story will absolutely gut you. I can’t say anymore for fear of giving something important away. All I can say is, I’ve become a fast fan of Nora Roberts.
Read this book. It’s really good!
Excellent. Suspenseful throughout, without being overly gory. Very nicely paced, and wonderful characters.
This book has a different slant to the serial killer theme, in that the narrative is told from the viewpoint of the daughter of a serial killer. In fact, she finds his latest victim and rescues her. The story explores the effect that one man’s horrific actions have on his family, especially his son and daughter, who must navigate the outside world in the aftermath. Most serial killer stories are told from the perpetrator, victim, or law enforcement point of view, but this was a fresh take, showing the perspective of friends and family. If you’re looking for a a whodunit with a heavy dose of home renovation and interior design, this book is for you.
Good development of the story as well as the characters. Has you definitely guessing throughout but by the end it was built up enough that you realized what you thought all along was correct. Showed a different perspective of the serial killer and what strength can accomplish if you believe in doing the right thing in a situation.
This is probably my favorite read by this author. The story sticks with me even though it’s been quite some time since I read it. I thought it was unique and unpredictable and that always a plus for me when reading a suspense romance. Highly recommended!
Loved this book! If I could give it more than five stars, I would.
The Obsession, my fifteenth read from author Nora Roberts. Outstanding romantic suspense. 14-hours 19-minute/464-pages. I’m voluntarily reading & reviewing it because every book needs reviews. Narrator Shannon McManus’s outstanding narration adds to the book’s enjoyment, in this she’s saved her best for last. I look forward to reading more from this author who needs to get the next romantic suspense book written. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 – July 24, 2018).
Nora Roberts is a wonderful writer. All here books are entertaining.
One of my favorites of hers! I’m Obsessed!
