Her patent leather ballet slippers were glossy and bright. She was proper, the new girl, modest. But there was something else about her …
At an exclusive private school in Switzerland, mystery surrounds the identity of the beautiful raven-haired girl who arrives each morning in a motorcade fit for a head of state. She is said to be the daughter of a wealthy international businessman. In truth, her father is Khalid bin Mohammed, the much-maligned crown prince of Saudi Arabia. Once celebrated for his daring social and religious reforms, he is now reviled for his role in the murder of a dissident journalist. And when his only child is brutally kidnapped, he turns to the one man he can trust to find her before it is too late.
What’s done cannot be undone …
Gabriel Allon, the legendary chief of Israeli intelligence, has spent most of his life fighting terrorists, including the murderous jihadists financed by Saudi Arabia. Prince Khalid—or KBM, as he is known—has pledged to finally break the bond between the Kingdom and radical Islam. For that reason alone, Gabriel regards him as a valuable if flawed partner. Together they will become unlikely allies in a deadly secret war for control of the Middle East. The life of a child, and the throne of Saudi Arabia, hang in the balance. Both men have made their share of enemies. And both have everything to lose.
Filled with dark humor, breathtaking twists of plot, and an unforgettable cast of characters, The New Girl is both a thrilling, page-turning tale of entertainment and a sophisticated study of political alliances and great-power rivalries in a dangerous world. And it is once again proof that Gabriel Allon is “one of fiction’s greatest spies” (Kirkus) and Daniel Silva is “quite simply the best” (Kansas City Star) writer of foreign intrigue and suspense at work today.

Anything by this author is worth checking out.
Daniel Silvas works are all of the highest level. I have read all his books and have followed his characters for years. The continuous character development, outstanding plot lines and timely events make him number one in my library.
Always out forward to these stories. I like the idea of developing current facts into interesting stories and blending old characters into new stories
Delightful to read and reread as tye stories a bit of truth woven into the message.
Just a great read. I learn something about history and current events every time I read one of his books.
Love everything he writes.
I love Daniel Silva’s books. Gabriel Allon and his team are my favorite characters in fiction
Another great Daniel Silva book.
I found this book was a return to form for Daniel Silva given that his last three books were feeling very same-y and predictable. This one had pace and had a more credible plot line. I really enjoyed it.
This is Daniel Silva’s best book in many years. He reunites all of the favorite characters and the action stretches from London to Saudi Arabia, with a Russian presence always lurking about and pulling strings. Ari Shamron, my favorite character in modern literature, is included, too, inspiring us with his absolute dedication to his principles. However, this book’s standout presence is the complicated Saudi prince and the author does a brilliant job forming him with perplexities and contradictions. Hope and redemption never have an easy path, but we’re left with just enough light at the end of the tunnel to continue believing in the future.
Silva is one of the best!
This is a masterpiece! Daniel Silva has never written a bad book, not even merely a passable one, but THE NEW GIRL is absolutely extraordinary by any standard! Perfectly paced, Mr. Silva conveys every nuance of the spying world, of the various countries involved, of the exceptionally well fleshed out characters, most of them familiar to Mr. Silva’s readers, as well as new ones. Words fail me in trying to express what a mystifyingly fabulous character Khalid is. I was completely immersed in the story, totally involved in the characters’ fate, that I literally blinked when I stopped reading for whatever reason; I was living in this other world for a while. Simply amazing!
Daniel Silva’s writing has never been more eloquent and precise; backstories are captivating, historical facts enthralling; even his grammar and sentence structure are irreproachable! The story was gripping from the foreword on, and it even got better as the reader gets repeatedly stunned by startling events. The Author’s Note is also quite enlightening. I very much appreciate how Mr. Silva is allowing Gabriel Allon to finally age gracefully.
I had the highest regard for Daniel Silva before THE NEW GIRL, and the author managed to surpass anything he’s ever written before. I applaud Mr. Silva for an astounding plot twist I feared might have been a smelly red herring but was not, and the title is aptly fitting. THE NEW GIRL is one of the best espionage novels ever written; I have no superlatives left…
When asked who are my favorite authors, or who do I aspire to be as an author, Lee Childs and Daniel Silva are at the top of my list. I love this story and all the Gabriel Allon series of stories. It’s interesting that I started to read this shortly after I arrived on an extended vacation in Istanbul! I wanted to visit the location of the Kashoggi murder at the Saudi Embassy, as this story is based on reality. However, the embassy is no longer located there and the place has been sold. I imagine no one will live in it but will tear it down and build a Turkish mansion in its place. Read the book. You won’t be disappointed!
Another success for Daniel Silva!
No one writes a better story than Silva!
I follow this series religiously and I am never disappointed. I am always amazed at the relevance in each book, even if it was written years ago. How does Sylva do that?
Not among Silva’s better works
Never know what is coming at you. Unexpected twist and turns.
Follows real life news
Yay! Daniel Silva is back in his game of international intrigue! Sometimes too many details which I skipped over. Not so much patience for extraneous facts. BUT…great story. Great characters. Great follow through with connecting threads. Just enough background information to explain characters’ complicated relationships. Direct approach with Gabriel Allon dead center where he belongs. Interesting title refers to two people—one an innocent, one a back-stabbing, traitorous manipulator. Surprise ending— ambiguous, but maybe the next book will clear it up ? I hope. Happy ending? Not so sure.
The plot? Not at all improbable in Gabriel Allon’s World, a Saudi prince and future king engages Israeli Gabriel Allon to help with an extremely grave matter involving life and death and his political future. Gabriel, being a conscientious, strategic realist, agrees to help, endangering his own life for the greater good. Always ready to play the shell game, Gabriel plants some bogus information—that’s right, fake news—to insure the result he wants and needs. Nothing is as it seems. Double dealing. Double and triple agents. Double crossing. Everything a great spy story should have!
“You’re dead! Dead, dead, dead… ” This phrase, repeated many times throughout the book, haunts Gabriel and compels him to continue his quest. The associated event is heartbreaking, but I suppose realistic, when viewed through the lens of global wanton violence. At the suggestion of his wife, Gabriel finds a way to make peace with this painful memory, reinforcing his humanity and sense of justice.
I’ve read all of his books and this was the BEST!
