Her patent leather ballet slippers were glossy and bright. She was proper, the new girl, modest. But there was something else about her …
At an exclusive private school in Switzerland, mystery surrounds the identity of the beautiful raven-haired girl who arrives each morning in a motorcade fit for a head of state. She is said to be the daughter of a wealthy international businessman. In truth, her father is Khalid bin Mohammed, the much-maligned crown prince of Saudi Arabia. Once celebrated for his daring social and religious reforms, he is now reviled for his role in the murder of a dissident journalist. And when his only child is brutally kidnapped, he turns to the one man he can trust to find her before it is too late.
What’s done cannot be undone …
Gabriel Allon, the legendary chief of Israeli intelligence, has spent most of his life fighting terrorists, including the murderous jihadists financed by Saudi Arabia. Prince Khalid—or KBM, as he is known—has pledged to finally break the bond between the Kingdom and radical Islam. For that reason alone, Gabriel regards him as a valuable if flawed partner. Together they will become unlikely allies in a deadly secret war for control of the Middle East. The life of a child, and the throne of Saudi Arabia, hang in the balance. Both men have made their share of enemies. And both have everything to lose.
Filled with dark humor, breathtaking twists of plot, and an unforgettable cast of characters, The New Girl is both a thrilling, page-turning tale of entertainment and a sophisticated study of political alliances and great-power rivalries in a dangerous world. And it is once again proof that Gabriel Allon is “one of fiction’s greatest spies” (Kirkus) and Daniel Silva is “quite simply the best” (Kansas City Star) writer of foreign intrigue and suspense at work today.

Silva never disappoints. After last year’s outstanding THE OTHER WOMAN, I was worried about how he would top it. This follow-up is classic Silva, with a topical storyline and twists galore. Many outstanding questions are answered. Highly recommended.
A riveting, fast-paced thriller steeped in international intrigue, espionage and betrayal. Gabriel Allon and his team are once again in a race against time. It’s also a story about the courage journalists display when seeking the truth and holding those in power to account.
I don’t think it’s possible for Daniel Silva to write a book I don’t like and this one is no exception. Tense, realistic and frighteningly believable, it has its genesis in current events. If you like spy thrillers, this author is among the best.
I bought this book because my brilliant son loves this author and recommended it. I thought it would be a thriller, but I didn’t find it to be a page-turner or much of a thriller. There is way too much back story about what happened in the eighteen books in this series that came before this novel. Then, about a third of way into the book, something happened in the plot, that made me totally lose interest in the story.
Still, the author has a great style, and I enjoyed this book because I enjoyed the setting–not the usual reason for reading a thriller. I liked reading about the Middle East. I liked the characters. Also, I have a lot of respect for how difficult it is to make a book work.
After reading some other reviews, I decided Daniel Silva must be a great writer and that the earlier books must be real thrillers, so I bought the first book in the series and look forward to reading it.
Book after book, Silva is such a consistently good thriller writer. I look forward to each installment in the Gabriel Allon series.
One of my favorite authors
Terrific read!
Silva is always a great read. Has been several years since I have read one of his novels. Well worth waiting for.
Silva is getting a bit predictable and formulaic but after this many in the same series it is probably unavoidable. Still, there were some exciting moments as the villain was made to pay.
The usual great Gabriel Allon novel that keeps you on edge with mystery. I would definitely recommend it to anyone, who likes a good action mystery.
Daniel Silva never fails to create an excellent story! My only regret is that I have to wait so long between novels! Beautiful writing and original story line. Thank you Daniel!
I like The main character, Gabriel Allon. This story is timely, engrossing and sometimes brutal.
Good plot with all the usual cast.
I have read 99% of Daniel Silva’s books and loved them all
Never miss a book in this series!
His books usually are always good
A good spy thriller
This is my favorite author. His books are exciting and I feel like I know his characters personally.
This book hints at possibilities, and you dare to believe in hope. Different than some of the other Allon books, but equally good. Highly recommend.
This is another classic Daniel Silva story in which the characters fit exactly into the events of the current day. He always manages to give excellent insights into the intelligence services while weaving an intricate story. I always look forward to his next book as soon as one is finished.
