Data Never Dies. But People Do.Alex Vane was once a top investigative journalist. Now he peddles celebrity gossip and clickbait listicles, watching from a distance as his wife moves on with her life – without him. Alex’s past catches up with him when he learns that an old source, James Stacy, has been killed in a random mass shooting. But James left Alex one last scoop: a 50-year-old hard drive … 50-year-old hard drive that may contain a secret worth killing for…and the name of the one person who can help him access the data. That person is Quinn Rivers, a paranoid and reclusive computer expert who believes the CIA is tracking her every move. And she may be right.
When Alex shows up at her door with the hard drive, armed operatives are right behind him. Now Alex and Quinn are on the run. There is no one to trust, nowhere to hide, and nothing but the hard drive to prove that James Stacy’s death wasn’t random at all.

The Anonymous Source evokes comparisons to John Grisham’s finest — The Firm and The Pelican Brief — with a touch of Woodward and Bernstein’s All the President’s Men… A high-stakes, explosive debut novel from a talented new writer sure to do damage to the best-seller lists.
I’ll admit that I started the book and put it down not far from the beginning, not sure I would continue. Maybe it was where I picked it up, but after I did, I could not stop reading. In fact, I spent three big chunks of time when I should have been working, to read this book. I’m not going to rehash the story line, you can read that elsewhere. I just want to recommend that if you enjoy conspiracy thrillers, you read this one.
I enjoyed reading this book. The characters are well developed and the story moves along at a nice pace. I loved getting a glimpse inside the world of high-tech journalism.
Alex Vane turned out to be a great character. Insightful depiction of how digital technology and social media have changed journalism. Finished the 2nd in the series right away, and ready for the 3rd.
I’m really not into spy novels, but I just couldn’t put this book down once I started reading it. The author’s words really do make you question how influential social media is to our very existence. Great detail and plot to pave the way for an action-packed thrill ride.
Alex has a chance to get a real news article for “The Barker.” Just come see his friend James in Las Vegas. There is a problem, James has been murdered, along with everyone in the Gazette office. The entire story is about why and how the crime was committed. Add to this murder investigation that Alex is being divorced from the ever delicious Greta and really doesn’t want to be divorced and we get a story punctuated with twisted time tables, appointments, and flashbacks of why Greta is the most desirable person Alex could ever want.
Now, Alex has met with another friend, she has a duplicate drive. This is the same type of drive that got James killed by a fellow named Baxter. This is an old drive. One that can’t simply be plugged into your computer’s port and downloaded. It is also encrypted. Look like fun yet? We get to follow Alex and his new friend Quinn as they do their best to avoid CIA operatives and find someone who can access the drive and decypher it.
Languae is okay and sex is a gender or an activity that is seldom mentioned.
I look forward to the next book, “The Last Journalist.”
If you are into the world of electronics I’m sure you will love this book. The story line was great and the characters were well developed, though some were rather weird. Being just a bit behind the age of electronics I found a lot of the jargon went over my understanding but I still recommend it. as the storyline itself is very interesting.
Looking forward to reading more Alex Vane books by A. C. Fuller.
A fun read.
It’s been a while since I read this, but I remember I liked the whole series. I don’t like it when the main characters are too perfect. This has lots of action, twists and the characters are human rather than super-human.
Great book
The subject was on topic with conspiracies going on in real life today. Gripping and scary.
A well-written mystery/conspiracy novel.
Lame plot. I didn’t even finish the last half
I always enjoy this author and wasn’t disappointed!
Well-done!
I didn’t enjoy it as much as I did. “Anonymous Source”. I guess too much technology terms and stuff in it for me.
It was well written and very topical.
The story and characters were not believable and changed direction frequently. Gave up after 3 or 4 chapters.
This book was one of my favorite books I could ever find if your looking for a kinda scary book this will be the book to read.
