Excellent! I strongly recommend this book! Well written; gripping & exciting plot! Can’t wait for more!
The Longest Night is book #0.5 in the Savage North Chronicles by Lindsey Pogue. You can read this prequel either before or after the first book, The Darkest Winter. I read it first which gave me a nice introduction to Sophie and Alex and the two kids. It also introduced the start of the flu that wiped out the majority of the population although being so secluded in a very small community in Alaska, they had no idea what they were experiencing was happening everywhere.
I really enjoy post apocalyptic stories of survival, relationships that start as a means to survive and build into friendships and family with a touch of romance.
I have read the entire Ending Series that takes place in another part of the country but resulted from the same flu epidemic. You don’t need to read it to enjoy this story but it’s also REALLY good!
Oh yes, she did! Lindsey Pogue has penned ANOTHER hit and this is just the prequel!
THE LONGEST NIGHT takes into the heart of the frozen north, Alaska in “the dead of winter.” If that isn’t enough to give you chills, a virus is coming, having already overtaken the world’s population and there is nowhere to run, nowhere to hide. For the new kid in town, Alex, life in the small town is already promising to be a nightmare, but he had no idea just how horrendous it would be.
Sophie was the mayor’s daughter and in a tiny, snowbound borough like Whitely, where everyone lived just an apartment away, she had only one concern, why was she feeling so sick? She had symptoms of something that could unravel her perfect little image. Little did she know, she had far more to worry about, like living through the night as one by one, those around her fell to the feverish and gory nightmare that was sweeping her town.
Who knew that after THE LONGEST NIGHT either of them had survived, they could be among the last living souls in town and beyond…
Holy apocalypse! Once again, Lindsey Pogue has taken young adult reading and twisted it into a riveting fight for survival with characters that jump of the pages with that feeling that they are REAL teens, struggling to make sense of a world they don’t recognize without the safety net of adults setting boundaries around them. Pretty sure the edge of my seat will get quite a workout as this series continues! Remote Alaska, frigid temps, a deadly virus…brrrrrr…I’m in!
I received a complimentary ARC edition from Lindsey Pogue! This is my honest and voluntary review.
