An Amazon Charts bestseller.
A novel of secrets, memory, family, and forgiveness by the bestselling author of When Never Comes.
Lizzy Moon never wanted Moon Girl Farm. Eight years ago, she left the land that nine generations of gifted healers had tended, determined to distance herself from the whispers about her family’s strange legacy. But when her beloved grandmother Althea dies, Lizzy must … grandmother Althea dies, Lizzy must return and face the tragedy still hanging over the farm’s withered lavender fields: the unsolved murders of two young girls, and the cruel accusations that followed Althea to her grave.
Lizzy wants nothing more than to sell the farm and return to her life in New York, until she discovers a journal Althea left for her—a Book of Remembrances meant to help Lizzy embrace her own special gifts. When she reconnects with Andrew Greyson, one of the few in town who believed in Althea’s innocence, she resolves to clear her grandmother’s name.
But to do so, she’ll have to decide if she can accept her legacy and whether to follow in the footsteps of all the Moon women who came before her.

The Last of the Moon Girls by Barbara Davis
We all have to strive to be our own person. But sometimes, your path seems predestined because of your last name. The Moon name had a certain reputation in Salem Creek. But does it really? Reputations can be both good and bad depending on who you talk to.
This book was really good. The characters are well developed. The story flows seamlessly. The writing is superb! The police lingo was right on. I really enjoyed reading it. I would love to see a sequel to this book. Hint, hint, hint!!
Isn’t it funny how a scent can conjure up a memory of a person or a place? When fragrance is your business, it is especially strong.
This is a story about living up to your potential. It’s about caring about the truth and realizing what really makes you happy.
The Last of the Moon Girls is my first book by Barbara Davis, but it will not be my last. I was drawn in from the first page, where we are introduced to a character we will come to find out is Althea the deceased grandmother of the main character Lizzy Moon, who raised Lizzy after her mother abandoned her. While Lizzy is brought back to the Moon Girls farm by her grandmother’s death, planning to sell it and go back to her life in New York, well, things like that are rarely simple when one is facing their past. Davis skillfully weaves Lizzy’s story with the diary entries of Althea, which magically come at the right times. Moon women are all special, each with certain gifts, which we learn as we go, and Lizzy is no exception. The story is one I did not want to end, not only because I loved the setting and the characters, but the lyrical writing was wonderful. I would say this is a must read.
I enjoyed this book from the start. I little bit of Magic, just enough suspense, an old family home with tons of secrets, a touch of romance and a lot of self reflection – what more could you want? Barbara Davis did a good job presenting the “gifts” that the Moon Girls processed without them seeming way out there while still conveying the affect they had on each girl. I loved that it touched on natural herbal remedies. I could smell the lavender and bergamot as I read! A good read!!
Tis the week of magical realism for me. I love when I inadvertently schedule all of my TBR books around a theme, I feel like it really just shows where my bookish interests lie (or what mood I’m in). But anyways, this book was just so gorgeously written. I feel like anything that dives into magical realism is guaranteed to be a lyrical and beautiful book.
This book is honestly just so perfect in so many ways. I mean if there’s one thing that makes a book that features magical realism more perfect is having is set in New England. I don’t know why, but it’s just one of those places that automatically makes me feel like home whenever I start reading about it (even though I’ve never been haha).
This book is just one of those enjoyable stories that will make you feel relaxed and pleasant. That probably sounds bizarre, but it’s like the perfect fall day wrapped in the pages of a book. The story reminds me of the likes of Alice Hoffman where the magic is there, but so is the heart. It was all around just such a fantastic read.
I really enjoyed this book. I love the way this author writes. The herbs for soaps and cures had me smelling the scents as described. The story was a good one; an old murder gets new eyes on it to clear the Moon name, a new friend with honey bees, forgiveness, healing relationships, and a bit of romance. This was my July Amazon Prime pick and very glad I chose it. You can’t go wrong with this author.
