Ken Follett’s The Key to Rebecca took readers and critics by storm when first published forty years ago. Today, it remains one of the best espionage novels ever written. A brilliant and ruthless Nazi master agent is on the loose in Cairo. His mission is to send Rommel’s advancing army the secrets that will unlock the city’s doors. In all of Cairo, only two people can stop him. One is a … him. One is a down-on-his-luck English officer no one will listen to. The other is a vulnerable young Jewish girl. . . .

I read this book many years ago. Once I started reading it, I couldn’t put it down. Ken Follet became one of my favorite authors. I have read all his books due to this one.
An excellent, exciting WWII spy thriller.
I enjoyed the brisk pace, the clearcut “good vs. evil” characters and the dramatic finale. A satisfying read.
Another compelling page turner by Follett. Only problem was Kindle version is riddled with typos. Very distracting!
One of my favourites
A superb espionage novel from a master of the craft and one of my favorite authors and inspirations, Ken Follett. The age of the book has not dimmed its appeal!
The Key to Rebecca is a must-read for lovers of thrillers, action & adventure, or spy novels with a WWII backdrop.
A superb plot with exotic locations and great character building.
A Nazi Masterspy aided by a femme fatale is set to infiltrate the British High Command with only one army officer and a young Jewish girl capable of halting him.
Ask yourself this – What does this forty-year-old groundbreaking novel have to do with Michael Ondaatje’s novel The English Patient and Daphne du Maurier?
I doubt that you would regret reading this book. I have read it three times over the years and never tire of it.
Not as good as some of his other books but still good.
Ken Follett is a great author. I’ve yet to read one of his books that I haven’t thoroughly enjoyed.
Interesting to read of how the Great War might have affected countries you’re not that familiar with.
Utter dreck! Read “The Lions of the Desert” instead.
Nicely placed
You can’t beat Ken Follett for pure entertainment reading, fast paced and still great descriptive detail.
I couldn’t put it down. Had to finish it.
Great example of a riveting spy novel. Couldn’t put it down.
Great story. Suspenseful.
Not one of Folletts finest but a good read
Great read! This author never disappoints.
You like mysteries you will like this!!!
Wow, this was great! I couldn’t stop reading this book!
Reread the book after 40 and found it still was a page turner. The book pits two well matched adversaries in a spy operation crucial to the outcome of the war. Both the major protagonists and the other characters are all interesting persona.
Has Ken Follet written a bad book? Love his writing.
