This book intrigued me and I am glad I read it. I really like books with angst where the hero messes up and emotionally hurts the heroine before redeeming himself. Be prepared to hate both heros, Luca and Donovan, in this storyline for a piece of the story. In fact I think Donovan should have had to grovel a lot more for his actions and wish their portion of the book was longer so this could have happened.
This is a post apocalyptic tale where it is a hard place for a woman to find peace. Nyssa has been sold, used and abused for her abilities to read others minds. When she escapes she is captured by Luca who has grown up without knowing how to love in this tough environment. He learns to love but it is only after some major and many would say egregious mistakes some may not be able to accept. Donovan also messed up in so many ways. He accidentally wounded Kallie while hunting and nursed her back to health at his cabin where they grew close. When a former lover returns he hurts Kallie with his actions and they both suffer through other hardships afterwards. For all the mistakes Luca made with Nyssa, it was good to see how protective he was of Kallie in the second part of the book.

Thoroughly enjoyed this book and both stories
Great characters in both!
This is a dark story that sees two men who don’t know or want to know about love find their perfect mate in the most unexpected way. But there is so much more that that to this story, it’s about survival with characters that have a lot of depth to them.

This book is a post-apocalyptic story that’s dark and erotic. Nyssa is used for her mind abilities and Luca has no idea how to love anything. Then you have Kallie and Donovan. Book grabs you at the beginning and holds your attention till the last page. You don’t want the book to end. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Luca and Donovan’s stories – love and society take a whole lotta work
—>>> Well, this was more of an emotionally wringer of a read, with two women being misused and mistreated in their earlier years, but who both did manage to stumble upon love, though they did have harrowing experiences before their men realized how their (still unfortunately typical male) behaviors were responsible for why they shut their men out from their hearts and minds. Luca and Donovan each were lucky enough to come across a woman who taught them hard lessons in their hard world, lessons which could have lost them a chance at happiness if they did not finally come to realize what they have done to the women they did indeed love. Glad to read their HEAs by the last pages, as Nyssa and Kallie deserved a chance at happiness!
