In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. The Capitol keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV.
Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen regards it as a death … it as a death sentence when she steps forward to take her sister’s place in the Games. But Katniss has been close to death before-and survival, for her, is second nature. Still, if she is to win, she will have to start making choices that weigh survival against humanity and life against love.

An eternal favorite. Katniss pulls you in, but it’s Peta and Rue and Prim that keeps you there. It’s family and love and loss and pain. It will always make me cry but i will always adore it.
THIS BOOK IS S SYNONYM FOR TERRIBLY AMAZING I LOVED IT
Read the whole series. LOVED it!!!
The book was far better than the movies as they usually are. Movies were good book was great.
One of the most wonderful books I’ve ever read.
Had action, and a great friendship between the characters, and really great character development as well.
younger readers might understand human nature better
In my eyes this is the pinnacle of the genre.
good. I thought it was very new and kind of sad.
Loved the series!
This book made me feel so many different emotions and at times I even felt like I was actually in the book! I even read about three hundred and fifty (350) pages of this book in the first day!
Enjoyed this series. Well conceived. Cautionary tale.
I loved it so much, read the whole trilogy and is now my favourite book! The characters are so unique, the plot is original and the end of each chapter was a cliff hanger and left me wanting more, even at the end of the book! Totally recommend it, I cried, laughed and fell in love with Katniss and wish I could read it again not knowing what comes next!
I love this series. The story is completely absorbing, and it’s a great commentary on today’s world. I finished this book in one read because I was so engrossed!
This story is so fascinating that when I finished it, I couldn’t wait for the last two books to come out. It was an awesome, amazing, hang on by your fingernails, intense, trilogy. It was amazing when they turned the books into the movies, too. It made such a lasting impression on me that I bought replicas of all four Hunger Games movies so that I can wear them everyday to remind me of the importance of our legal choices. It’s probably one of the single most important inspirational and informative group of stories of our century. An old quote states that “absolute power corrupts absolutely.” This is a good example of that profound warning, and the profound results of poor choices designed to benefit the rich and wealthy, that forgets the entire national population’s needs and wants, complete with a visual reminder of it’s effect on people and their history throughout the following generations through the movies based pretty accurately on the books. Proceed cautiously in establishing new government laws, with the dire possible consequences uppermost in mind, before passing any new permanent legislation. Our very lives hang in the balance based on what choices are made into law! Plan carefully for the better good for all future populations!
I thought this book was amazing, I love the romance in the book, and its a perfect book for u if u like Romance, distopian, and action.
In the world Suzanne Collins created, illustrates the role of political gain and rebellion in this action packed novel.
This book is exiting and energetic. Keeps your attention from beginning to end.
It describes a very unique and dark wolrd from a creative perspective. I really liked how Katniss fought for staying alive, because she had very unpredictible ideas.
Really action-packed and exciting!
wonderful could not put down
Read the book series before the movie. Book was more interesting (as usual).
