In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. The Capitol keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV.
Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen regards it as a death … it as a death sentence when she steps forward to take her sister’s place in the Games. But Katniss has been close to death before-and survival, for her, is second nature. Still, if she is to win, she will have to start making choices that weigh survival against humanity and life against love.

Loved this book but the ending was a bit blah.
Have read this series 2x I love it so much!
This was an awsome book that must be read to understand modern distopias.
I seen the movie & liked it. But I also enjoyed the book just as much.
A cautionary tale that may help to get folks involved in their world and politics. Also, a great page-turning read with realistic characters and plenty of action.
Boring
Too graphic. Not my kind of book.
I love this book everyone should read this book
No words for how great these books were !!!
Smart and compelling!
I preferred the book. Must more to the characters.
I recommended this book to all of my friends who read.
Great Book.
I loved this book! Such a page turner. Have been able to read it more than once which usually never happens.
Best book I’ve ever read!! Read all three books in the series and saved them to re-read.
I’m still in love with this series, it’s one of my favorites.
Turned me into a NRA proponent.
I never want to be unprepared!!
It definitely is packed full of action and unexpected turns. Suzanne Collins has done a great job describing every situation to act like you were one of the characters or just watching the scene that was taking place. So good. The book is way better than the movie, but the movie isn’t terrible .
Premises showed promise. Poorly written. Movies were better than books.
The books are much better than the movies
