“Every experience God gives us . . . is the perfect preparation for the future only He can see.”–Corrie ten BoomCorrie ten Boom was a Dutch watchmaker who became a heroine of the Resistance, a survivor of Hitler’s concentration camps, and one of the most remarkable evangelists of the twentieth century. In World War II she and her family risked their lives to help Jews and underground workers … underground workers escape from the Nazis, and for their work they were tested in the infamous Nazi death camps. Only Corrie among her family survived to tell the story of how faith ultimately triumphs over evil.
Here is the riveting account of how Corrie and her family were able to save many of God’s chosen people. For 35 years millions have seen that there is no pit so deep that God’s love is not deeper still. Now The Hiding Place, repackaged for a new generation of readers, continues to declare that God’s love will overcome, heal, and restore.
“A groundbreaking book that shines a clear light on one of the darkest moments of history.”–Philip Yancey, author, The Jesus I Never Knew
“Ten Boom’s classic is even more relevant to the present hour than at the time of its writing. We . . . need to be inspired afresh by the courage manifested by her family.”–Jack W. Hayford, president, International Foursquare Church; chancellor, The King’s College and Seminary
“The Hiding Place is a classic that begs revisiting. Corrie ten Boom lived the deeper life with God. Her gripping story of love in action will challenge and inspire you!”–Joyce Meyer, best-selling author and Bible teacher

Imagine giving a speech on forgiveness, and then having someone who hurt you deeply, perhaps was even responsible for the death of one or more of your family, coming up to you after that talk and asking forgiveness. Sometimes it can seem talk is cheap, Corrie Ten Boom at that moment had to put actions to her words. Her recounting of that moment is worth the price of the whole book.
Christianity can be expensive, requiring one to sacrifice what so often one holds most dear. Would I have been able to forgive in that circumstance?
Forgiveness. Love. Faithfulness. These are words I only thought I understood prior to reading Corrie’s book. I still have so much to learn. Thank you for sharing your story and experiences.
You will never regret reading this beautiful account of a most remarkable woman. A true story of one of the darkest times in history, illuminated by the unshakable faith of Corrie and her family. You will be inspired, educated and moved by her account of her life in Holland and then the concentration camp and beyond. A must read!
Incredible true story of heroes of the Dutch resistance, and their public and secret lives in Holland during the Nazi occupation. I fell in love with Corrie and her family who provided enough humor and charm to balance the horror of being captured, and surviving in a concentration camp.
A classic that I have read many times and will read again. It is an inspiring story that makes you wonder what would you do in this situation.
This book is an eye opener to what life was really like during this time. There is no doubt that faith played a major part in helping people survive. I highly recommend this book!
This is a message for all who survive war. It is not an easy thing to forgive and The Hiding Place not only describes the horrors of the atrocious and evil men involved with the concentration camps of WWII, but also the physical and emotional devastation of the aftermath. Yet, raising from the rumble of Germany, comes the true message of healing for both the abuser and the abused. Corrie teaches the survivors of that time as well as all to follow the difficult yet sublime road to peace.
An amazing story about an amazing woman.
This is a book about growth, love, faith, and miracles, in the most horrible of circumstances. I read it in my early 20s, and I was both encouraged, and strengthened, and amazed, by Corrie and her sister’s story throughout my life.
A true story. One of my favorite books of all time! Well written and so tragic but you see God’s hand in every moment. I bought ten copies to give as gifts. Very worth your time.
True story about a remarkable women struggling to stay alive in horrendous circumstances.
People who do not know history or deny the holicaust should be required to read this book. Hitler caused the death of many people besides the Jewish people.
EVERYONE should read this inspirational true story of the Ten Boom family who hide Jews during the Holocaust. After they are discovered and sent to prison camps God continues to teach and use the author to bring hope to those around her.
What a great testimony to the human spirit
and God’s love!
I LOVE THIS BOOK!!!!!
A book that transforms your mind and heart while you read it. Part of you wants to scream out no it can’t be true. The other part of you excepts the historical accuracy and the sadness and frustration of lives turned upside down by Hitler, and atrocities – and you realize each one of us is responsible for the choices we make. Even in wildly wicked world regimes. Inspirational and life-giving.
Corrie Ten Boom, a Holocaust survivor, brings these horrific happenings to the forefront. I really like to read true stories of happenings during the Holocaust. I was born soon after the war ended, and this brings to reality what was going n in Germany just prior to my birth. Ten Boom is a colorful writer, making you feel what she felt. Great book.
An amazing story of a Dutch family that harbored Jews in a hiding place in their home during the Nazi invasion of their country. This is only part one of the story. The second half is the story of two sister’s experiences in Ravensbruck concentration Camp. Inspiring and intense. Highly recommended!
This is the true story of the TenBoom family during WW2. I first read this book when I was 11 or 12 years old, then read it so often I wore out my copy to pieces.
Corrie feels she has little faith compared to the rest of her family. Still, they hide Jews during the war. They are caught and sent to concentration camps, where Corrie and her sister, Betsy, minister to and and encourage other camp detainees. Corrie is released near the end of the war, the only survivor in her family.
This is a riveting story, all the more so because it is true. I would not recommend this for young children, but those age 10 and up will learn much and benefit for their exposure to this incredible book. There are illustrations from her stories used in Bible study classes and sermons frequently, and many more gems are packed in.
Best ever!!!
A life of courage and faith personified in Corrie Ten Boom–what an example of unselfishness and a deep trust in God!
