The Help brings the reader into the minds of the characters in a tragic time in Mississippi. Engrossing.
One of my all-time favorite books!
I enjoyed this book, but by the end I was ready for it to be over.
The Help is a fantastic read! A white girl pens the stories of 4 southern black maids in the 1960’s during the riots. In talking with them, she is taken inside their personal lives to learn about their fears, struggles and families, and finds they are no different than her. As the reader, I connected with all of these women. cheered for them, …
Having grown up in Western Pennsylvania, I didn’t personally see the outright discrimination against blacks. We had black children in our schools, and I had a black lab partner in Science class. I never thought about them being any different and was oblivious to the every day treatment of blacks everywhere. I was a teenager during the Civil …

The book and the movie were so entertaining and funny! It is very realistic of that time, yet we realize today that is NOT the way blacks should have been treated. We learn from the past. A great Southern read!!!
One of the best books I’ve ever read!
Well written. There was this sadness I felt about this time in our history.
Outstanding!
This book helped me understand a difficult part of my country’s history that I did not live through, and I was wonderfully entertained along the way.
Great book!
I know these people ! Fortunately the next generation has managed to change, though there still room to grow . Being reminded where we started helps to see how far we have to go.
A very honest look at race relations in the 1960’s. It was honest, funny and without rancor
This is one of the best books I’ve ever read. I wish the author would write more!
Perfect storytelling!
I loved this story because I lived there in that time and in that place. The author was dead on with the characters and the interaction between them. Best book ever written about the late 50’s and early 60’s in the deep south. Some might say there are places just like that today. Highly recommend for understanding the culture of the time and …
