The first rule about owning a fight club is it’s no place for kids. Even shifters. Cage Gamble, a Jaguar Shifter in Sylvan City, owns the first licensed ‘fight club’ where men and shifters could fight in the ring or the cage. It was a good life, some work and a lot of play, until he was called to England to take custody of his best friend’s daughter. Her father’s sudden passing left her in Cage’s … Cage’s care. He could handle a berserk bear shifter or a gorilla full of rage with one hand, but a moody teenage lioness? Not so much.
Just when he was nearly ready to string himself up from the nearest light post and jump, his old commanding officer throws him a lifeline.
Maggie Fordice, the Colonel’s once rebellious daughter, is all grown up and moving home to Sylvan City. On paper she was just what he needed, a teen-whisperer. But up close and very personal, she was also what he didn’t need. Whip smart and voluptuous, she was a woman who could send him up in flames with a look or a wiggle.
Maggie was ready to light a match and burn his resistance to the ground, even when helping him brought danger to her doorstep. Was Cage going to fight what he felt for the fiery woman who lived across the street? Or was he going to fight for what they could have… everything?

Reina did it again. I really liked Cage’s story. Frances was just the right twist 🙂
I sure hope there will be more!
Another great addition to Sylvan City. This book is full of drama, suspense, action, passion, and teenage moodiness. Love Gage and Maggie’s love story and how perfect they are for Frances. Not only is this a great shifter book but it has well developed characters and a great storyline too. This author is one of my favorites and I’m never disappointed with her writing. A definite one-click must read!
There is a lot shifting in Cage Gamble’s world, and it is not just his ability to shift to a jaguar. A confirmed bachelor and the owner of a gym/fight club, Cage suddenly finds himself the guardian to British teenager Frances Billings. Frances’s father Todd was in Cage’s military unit of shifters, serving under Colonel Fordice at home and abroad. When Todd and his wife are killed in a car accident, the young lioness shifter is relocated to Sylvan City, carrying enough emotional baggage and sullen attitude to bring Cage to his knees. How can a rough and tumble single cage fighter handle a female juvenile delinquent shifter?
Colonel Fordice knew how to handle his squad of shifters then and he knows what Cage needs now. Colonel Fordice knows all about female juvenile delinquents – his daughter Maggie was one. So when the Colonel asks the-now adult and successful Maggie to help Cage, she agrees to assist her childhood crush with Frances.
Wow – there is nothing childlike about the sparks between Cage and Maggie! Maggie recognizes Frances as a scared young woman and Cage recognizes Maggie as his mate! This story brilliantly balances the two sides of Maggie – mentor and nurturer to an orphaned teen versus the sensual, loving woman who is perfect for Cage. Emotional, witty, steamy and suspenseful, Reina Torres gives us a great story with a well-paced plot and interesting characters. What amazes me it that I am totally taken with her shifter series, when shifter stories are not my “go to” read! Yet Ms.Torres draws me in with every single book she writes in this genre. I love them!
One of the things I liked most about this book was the cast of characters and how well they were developed. Knowing Cage from previous books it was fun to see how he became a romantic and a caring father. Maggie, we see how she has evolved into such a warm and wonderful woman. Any poor Frances. Troubled from the loss of her parents, she acts out and must find the strength to work her way into who she wants to be. Even the minor characters are fun to discover in this story.
A romantic, and sizzling HOT shapeshifter story. This is my favorite Reina Torres book in this genre. Well done!
Cage is fighter with a very soft heart. Cage has become guardian to a teenage girl Frances. Frances lost both her parents she is having a very hard time. Cage meets Maggie and know instantly she is his mate. Maggie had troubled childhood and wants to help Cage with Frances. Cage feels like he is failing Frances and he does not want to fail Maggie too. Maggie finally convinces Frances to accept her help. Cage wants to take care of Maggie and Frances and keep them both safe. Love how Cage never gives up on Frances. If you were too look up word protector in the dictionary you would see a picture of Cage. This is sweet and sexy shifter romance. Cage is wonderful sexy hero.
Fighting to win
This book has so many layers, a woman who fought her way back from self destruction, a girl fighting to come to terms with the loss of her parents, and the alpha male fighting to bring his family together. The author really surpassed the challenge of the Bad Alpha Dads and brought us this book that had so many realistic qualities that I could see the film play in my head. I loved the return of old characters and the introduction of new ones and the exciting story that brought us to the HEA. I can’t wait until the next time the author takes us back to Sylvan City, I’m sure it will be memorable.
Cage was a good guy with a bad past and a job that didn’t cater to kids. In walks his mate. I love shifter books. They are hot as all get out an usually have a kick butt story. This author doesn’t disappoint. Yes the book is hot but there is also a real good story about a guy and a girl coming together and keeping their family safe. And it’s a goodie.
I give The Fighter (Bad Alpha Dads) by Reina Torres Five Stars. This is book three of the Sylvan City Alphas and can be read as a standalone. I would recommend reading them in order though because the Characters from the other two books make appearances in this book also. If you like Paranormal Shifter books with hot alpha shifter men you will love this book. It was very well written and a very quick read.
Cage Gamble is a Jaguar Shifter in Sylvan City where he owns a fight club. This is the first place men and shifters can fight against each other in a safe place. He thought his life was going great until he got the phone call that will change his life. After he got the call that he was now the Guardian of a teenage girl because his best friend and his wife got killed. Not only is this teenage girl moody but she is also a lioness which makes this even harder on him. Cage needs major help and he is at a lost as to where to find it until his old commanding officer comes to the rescue.
Maggie Fordice was the rebellious daughter of Cage’s commanding officer The Colonel’s. Maggie is all grown up to be a smart voluptuous woman and has recently moved back home to Sylvan City. Her father has the great idea to have her help Cage out seeing as she was once the same type of teenager minus the shifter properties. Only problem is she up to helping the man that she has had a crush on forever? Can she get through to the teenager girl without making it worse? You will have to read the book to find out!
Maggie was ready to light a match and burn his resistance to the ground, even when helping him brought danger to her doorstep. Was Cage going to fight what he felt for the fiery woman who lived across the street? Or was he going to fight for what they could have… everything?
I really loved the character’s in this book. Cage is your typical tough guy, former military special forces and now he runs a fight club, for humans and shifters. After the death of a comrade he is now the father of Frances, a female teenage shifter. Puberty is never an easy time, but for a girl who feels like she lost everything when her parents died and that she is just a burden for Cage, it’s even harder. Maggie, the daughter of Cage’s former Colonel, knows what it’s like to lose one’s self in the throws of teenage rebellion, is asked to help Cage and Frances. The Colonel knows one thing for certain if someone doesn’t help Frances, she’ll end up in jail, so Maggie agrees to help. At first everything seems to be going well, but can it stay that way?
The plot twist was great and something I didn’t see coming at all! I really devoured this book. The characters and their interactions with one another were well developed and really had me championing for Cage and Maggie, and Frances finding her place in her new life. The Colonel and all the other side characters really gave the book a feeling of family.
The Figher(BAD Alpha Dads)(Sylvan City Alphas, #3) by Reina Torres is emotional, steamy, sexy, suspenseful with danger they don’t see coming. I was literally on the edge of my seat reading and turning pages as fast as I could. Cage Gamble, a Jaguar is the owner of the first license fight club.
But, when his best friend and his wife died leaving their teenage daughter, a lioness in his care, he become a instant Dad. Grieving, force to move to another country Francine starts acting out. Enter Maggie Fordice who knows a thing or two about Moody, acting out teenage girls she was one herself. But, what happens when the danger they didn’t see coming put both Maggie, Cage’s mate and the young girl he is starting to love as his own. Can he save them or will he lose everything. Reina Torres has done it again. If you are a fan of paranormal romances this needs to be on your TBR list.
Oh wow! Talk about an action packed story with lots of heart warming moments and sexy times as well. The Fighter had it all. Loved the chemistry between Cage and Maggie. Sparks definitely flew when they were together. But I also loved Cage and Maggie with Frances too. They both loved that lost girl so much. Just so many great things about this shifter romance and I can’t really tell you anymore without spoiling the story but this is a definite must read.
WOW, this book was a total page turner. I have been waiting for this book and Reina Torres has a TKO on her hands. I absolutely love Cage and Maggie. I’m so glad I decided to read shifter books. Cage is a jaguar shifter and Maggie is the now grownup daughter of his former Commanding Officer. I read this book in one sitting because I needed to know what was going to happen. If you enjoy a romantic suspense read, then you definitely need to grab a copy.
This is Book 3 of the Sylvan City Alphas. Cage is a shifter and becomes the guardian of Frannie, a 16-year-old who has lost both parents. She’s having major emotional problems that are causing her to act out in very bad ways. This is where Maggie comes back into Cage’s life. She’s the daughter of his previous military Commanding Officer. While Maggie was growing up, she acted out in the very same way that Frannie is acting now. So, she is very experienced in emotions. Things heat up fast between cage and Maggie. We also get a nice storyline between Cage, Frannie and Maggie together. The love Cage has for Frannie is so sweet. She was thrown into his life with the death of his friend, but he loves her so much. Keep the Kleenex handy or a baseball bat. You will need one or the other at times in this book. There’s also a good suspenseful moment of danger thrown in that will really keep you interested. If you can’t tell, I loved this book. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. You will really enjoy reading this book. Now we wait for Book 4.
This is the story of Cage and his Jaguar He becomes responsible for a friends daughter after her parents are killed. Like him she is a shape shifter and she is rebelling against him and authority. She ends up in legal trouble but thanks to Cage’s old leader she is taken under wing by Maggie, who agrees to help Cage deal with his charge, and he soon finds out Maggie is his long lost mate, the one to make his life complete. Along the way there is trouble brewing from a long distant person, and Maggie wants to fight what she feels for Cage because of her parent’s history. Can she believe Cage and trust her heart to him, can she help his “daughter” get over her anger issues. This is a great book and part of a great series.
“You lost your parents. Your home. Your whole country. And I gained a grumpy teenaged girl with crazy hair and claws.”
Book is packed with character growth. Maggie has turned her rebellious life around, has returned to town, now owns the diner and is a somewhat teen-whisperer. Cage has to adapt from bachelor life to parenthood and is learning to be a good father to his friend’s moody teenager, Frances. After losing her parents, rebellious Frances is learning that there are still people out there that care about her and can help her with her shifter life. The Fighter is a steamy read with a smoking hot romance, a well-done shifter transformation during an electrified fight scene at the club and an action-packed chase scene. There’s a connection happening between Frances and Cobb that I’m hoping will be explored in later books (they’re teens, so…) I also enjoyed appearance from characters from former books. An engaging read from Reina Torres!
Reina Torres really brings it all in this book and it’s a winner! Cage Gamble, owner of a fight club for shifters, has no idea how to handle Frannie, the daughter of a fellow soldier, who came into his life after her parents died. Her father had no family and her mother’s family want no part of her. Cage needs help, which arrives in Maggie Fordice, the now adult daughter of his former commanding officer. Frannie is acting out and getting into trouble, the same things that Maggie did when she was a teenager and felt unwanted. When seeing Maggie, now all grown up, Cage knows he has met his mate, but tries to suppress his shifter side for Frannie’s sake.
It takes some quick talking and action on Maggie’s part, but soon Frannie begins to settle in. That is until the discovery by her mother’s family that Frannie has an inheritance. How can Cage keep Frannie and Maggie, the two people that are now his world, safe? Characters we’ve met in the earlier books of this series are there to help when the need arises.
This book is a great read. The beginning moves very fast and puts you in the middle of what’s going on. But it doesn’t take long to catch up. Can Frannie accept all that’s being offered to her? Will Maggie accept Cage as her mate? Can Cage accept Maggie’s help? These characters are so well intertwined, you can hardly wait to find out what happens next. I read it in an afternoon. This story just grabbed me and didn’t let go. This is a book I’ll keep on hand to reread many times.
