The blurb at Amazon says all you need to know, except that this was a very exciting story, filled with action and passion. Ivan meets, romances, and seals the bond with Charlie, his Bloodmate. It’s just in time for her to save him from the Thirst and a worse fate, planned and executed by his ex-employee’s daughter and her minions. Several unexpected twists and turns in the story add to the excitement and suspense as The Directive and a local witch join them to fight the Beast of Dartmoor in an exciting conclusion.
Apparently this is one of a series, but it is great as a stand-alone. If you enjoyed it as much as I did, you’ll read others.
This is a short, yet highly entertaining, emotionally thrilling romantic adventure filled with danger around every corner, intriguing mystery and undeniable passion….
Ivan is looking for his ex in a small town after her fathers death to give his regrets and make amends when he is caught in a web of danger and unexplained murders being investigated by Charlie. She is a no nonsense, by the book, determined cop looking for answers and finding so much more than she bargained for in the misty moors. Loved every heart pounding twist and turn…
Wow this book blew me away so much action and there is not a thing given away by the author until your right in it.
Ivan Sokolov we met in another book by this author. He is the maker of Nikolai and if you read that then you would have heard of the female he was dating when all kinds of things went wrong and her father was killed by The Directive.
Ivan decides to go and find her to make things right he doesn’t know why he just knows he needs to do this but he is in for more than he ever bargained for.
Ivan lands in town where a creature is on a killing spree, things start happening to him and then he meets none other than Charlie who is a cop.
We will also get the pleasure of Jana, Clarence and none other than Magno Zara himself in this book. So much good reading. Grab your copy.
A Vampire’s Thirst: Ivan focuses on Ivan, a vampire. He is searching for his old girlfriend, Micheala, who has disappeared. Her father was taken by the Directive and executed for his crimes. Ivan simply wishes to find her, offer his sympathies and regrets concerning her father and see if there is anything that he can do to help her. He finds a lead that points him to a small town out on the moors, so he goes there. Out in these same moors, Charlie is investigating strange deaths of sheep. Initially they don’t think much of it other than the deaths seem strange. Quickly though the deaths escalate to humans and it seems that someone is trying to point the finger at Ivan who has just arrived in town. Ivan came to this small town looking for one thing but quickly discovers something much more important to him.
A Vampire’s Thirst: Ivan by Marissa Farrar is part of The Vampire’s Thirst series. This being said, this book can be read as a stand-alone novel. I’ve not read the other parts of The Vampire’s Thirst series, but I was able to enjoy this story without the lead up of the others. This is a short story, but it is still engaging from start to finish. Ivan is a strong vampire, over 300 years old, and he is hit with a problem that could spell danger for himself and others around him. Charlie is a no nonsense cop who is out to solve a crime that she knows there is more to it. When she and Ivan cross paths there is an immediate spark between them. I like how this story is written. The world knows about supernatural beings, but the supernaturals still do their best to maintain a low profile. They are guarded and police themselves with a group called the Directive. With a supernatural prowling the moors all are in danger.
There honestly isn’t much that I can complain about concerning this book. On a level I had expected more resistance from Charlie when she encounters Ivan and he attempts to compel her. I had expected more of a snap cop response, as in her feeling threatened on some level. This is probably the one thing I was a bit conflicted by. I liked that she kept her cool and didn’t immediately go into defense mode, but I was also surprised that she didn’t react more. I am a bit disappointed in Ivan for now being quicker to put things together with the probabilities concerning the creature stalking the moors.
In the end I am rating this book 5 out of 5 stars. I enjoyed the storyline and I like the twists and the surprises that the author writes in. Everything isn’t smooth sailing, there are problems and danger to overcome and survive. I like this and it kept me engaged in the story. Since this is a short story, the romance does happen quickly, but I’m okay with that. If you’ve read the other The Vampire’s Thirst books then I am sure that you will enjoy this book as well. If you haven’t but are looking for a short steamy vampire romance novel to read then I recommend this book. I’m sure that you will enjoy.
Ivan Sokolov is a 350 yr. old Vampire who is suddenly struck by The Thirst. He finally realizes what it is since his progeny, Nikolas, just went through it himself because he found his Bloodmate. Ivan thinks after all this time, can it be. Ivan meets his Bloodmate, Constable Charlene Ramsden, in a most unusual way – suspicion of murder! There is evil at work and The Directive is also called in to help. I love Ivan who is the old world type and Charlene is a beautiful and strong character. There is suspense, surprises, humor and hot, steamy romance. Loved this story and the author did a fantastic job making it so real. Highly recommend this book and the whole series.
The Truth Will Set You Free….
Vampire Nikolai’s maker Ivan Sokolov may have been responsible for all the trouble he had when he tried to get him to invest with werewolf Deacon, but it also took him to his Bloodmate. Ivan is very loyal to is progeny though and was responsible for helping the Directive get its hands on Deacon the man responsible for human trafficking and almost costing Nikolai his mind. Deacon was found guilty by the Directive and judged accordingly, now Ivan feels guilt at what Deacon’s half human daughter and his former lover must be feeling. As he sets out for the moors of England in search of her, he has no idea he is walking right into the hands of evil sources and his Bloodmate.
I have to say this book, its the one you will not want to miss! It has a few twists you just do not see coming till they smack you right in the middle of the story. The sexual scenes are good and not over the top.
It is completely realistic in every way possible. From the love that is shared between the two which makes it so much more enjoyable to understand why a common sense young lady would fall so quickly in love!! You will not even think its a full book as your reading, the story is so entertaining that you will not be able to put it down till the very end!
Kudos!! To this author for making such a great twisting story plot!!
