Better than the first book. Couldn’t put it down and a good book to reread.
It took me a little longer to get into this book than book one, The Selection, but after about 90 pages, I couldn’t put it down. My to-do list was set aside as I dove into America Singer’s world. There were two twists in particular I didn’t see coming that I thought really added to the dimensions of Cass’s writing. I love her tone, how the story flows, and the world she’s built. Even if you don’t typically read YA, like me, I still highly recommend this one. I’m ready to start book 3!
i love this book.. i think it is the best book i ever read.. it is romantic so if you dont like romance i dnt recommend it to u a friend recommended it to me and i LOVE it
I have mixed feelings about the second book in the series. I didn’t love it as much as the first. But every time I thought I might be about to lose interest, a new twist pulled me back in. I’m still enjoying the relationship blossoming between America and Maxon and hope America can use her position for good. I’m still liking this series enough to read the next book. 🙂
I loved The Selection so much, that after finishing it I quickly picked up The Elite. I spent all day Saturday reading and devoured The Elite in one day! It was just as good as its predecessor. Yes, like some of the reviews I have read, I too found America, Maxon, and even Aspen infuriating in this book. Unlike people who hated this, I loved it! This is what books are all about, making you feel things, and it only made me that more invested in all of them finding happiness.
Right now as I’m writing this, I am already a few chapters into The One, and I literally just finished The Elite! That right there should tell you just how amazing this series is! I am so glad that all three books were out when I started, because I would have went crazy waiting on them to come out!
Best book ever!
Yea I’m not really sure why I continued on with this book. The few things that I liked about the first book are nonexistent in this book. America was a character I could rally behind because she never forgot her roots and embraced her previous cast and used it to help her in the selection. Now she’s nothing more than an insecure little girl who get’s jealous about anything having to do with Aspen and Maxon. She is constantly running to one boy when the other upsets her. I just began to utterly dislike America.
I will say that I did like a bit of a closer look at the rebels. I like that America stirs up trouble for the king.
i love this book
Amazing book so many cliffhangers and many more!
Starting off right where The Selection left off, I eagerly jumped right into The Elite. I find myself very vested in these characters already. I’m rooting for America and Maxon and just can’t wait to see if they do, in fact, end up together.
Through this story there are many ups and downs between my favorite characters. Aspen’s presence is not what I wanted and as I could already assume, he’s causing America to doubt her feelings for Maxon. Every story must have a twist I guess, and that’s how I view Aspen.
America also struggles with thinking she’s not good enough, that she couldn’t possibly be a princess and future queen. While she doubts herself, she finds most people lift her up and tell her that she CAN do this and only a handful who don’t think she can. Some of the people who don’t think she’s cut out for it may surprise you!
In the end, we are of course left with another cliffhanger, so be prepared to have the next book or one of the novellas on hand to continue. I am moving on to the 2.5 novella and then 2.6 before moving on to book 3. I prefer to read chronologically.
If you were a fan of book 1, you’ll definitely want to pick up the 2nd volume. If you haven’t read book 1, ask yourself if you like dystopian tales, or rags to riches stories. If you answer yes, you will likely enjoy this series.
The one is the best one out of the three books in the selection series told by America’s point of view but this one as well as the last are real tear jerkers! Whoo! I love them all! Kiera Cass is an AMAZING author!
In this particular book I wanted to reach in the book and slap America Singer around a bit. This character plays with fire A LOT in this book, more so in my opinion than the other ones. I had a hard time putting this one down, I finished it in a day. I can relate on a personal level to the lack of respect King Clarkson has for America and believes Maxon should NOT be with her. Maybe that was why it was such a one day read, wanting to know how that particular relationship or well lack of was going to pan out.
