Lance and Zara meet under the moonlight and the sparks ignites but what they didn’t realize was that he was the competitor. When Zara agreed to come and work with her best friend to help launch her new dating app, she never expected that the man she met who she also connected with would be their rival. As they get closer to launch date will she and Lance’s relationship also come to a close as well. This story drew me in and had me cheering for Lance and Zara!
Well written. Well edited. Great story.
Unfortunately, I couldn’t give this four or five stars because of language (using the Lord’s name in vain several times and cussing once). There was also a lot of alcohol consumption in this novel, and one particularly disturbing scene where the girl has five drinks and the guy allows her to get herself home. If you don’t mind those sorts of things, you’ll enjoy this sweet love story.
Falling in love can be brutal for a dating site business! I loved these characters – which were developed very well. I felt Zara’s angst at who she fell in love with. I loved that her best friend was able to create an algorithm to match people. I loved the premise of these two online dating companies – one the leader in the industry, the other just starting out, and watching how the established one was so concerned about the up and coming one. I loved seeing the tech industry where this was set – for two small town girls to be so involved with this industry of high dollar shenanigans. I also loved the setting of an all women business – these women could do anything! It was well written and fun to read!
Two sayings come to mind while reading this book…keep your friends close and your enemies closer and the other one is what happens when you assume something. Zara and Lance’s story were full of these yet the humor, love and close family unit were still able to shine. Even with the scare for Zara’s family, they stayed true to themselves and grounded in their love. There’s another saying that fits this story…being family doesn’t necessarily mean related by blood!! I totally recommend!!
Romance, sweet romance in the cut-throat tech world
I enjoyed this romance, not least because it provides plenty of girl power moments as BFFs Ally and Zara work their way up in the tech business world with the support of a female investor. There are humorous moments, particularly during their test use of the dating app and when their accident-prone friend Chet is around, but more business drama and, of course, courting and sweet, clean romance. I found it to be pretty well written and a good length standalone.
The one jarring note was business competitor Lance Chase’s Jekyll and Hyde behavior in the latter part of the book. I did not find the explanation for the abrupt change in his behavior believable: something was lacking.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
I really enjoyed reading this book. Zara and Lance are very appealing characters that are business rivals but attracted to each other. Can they reconcile their differences when everything goes wrong and come out on top?
I received a free copy of this book and this is my voluntary, honest review.
I love an embarassing first-meet…and Zara’s was a doozy! But Lance handled it so well that I think I fell in love with him right there! Unfortunately, when the truth comes out, their reality is that they are competitors in the same business – the dating app field. You can’t help but root for them as they bring out the best in each other despite the obstacles – true soulmates. The inevitable angst was realistic, solvable and not drawn out. Overall, this was a good story with plenty of romantic touches to bring some happy to your day!
The characters are all realistic. They are a trio of friends, a business rival and their associates.
The story is that surrounds them is well paced and the plot seemed complete… there were some surprises, but the reader isn’t completely blindsided by the participants.
This is the first book I read by this author, but I look forward to reading more.
THE BUSINESS OF ATTRACTION by M. K. Lansbury
Starts with other works by the author of which I’ve read a few.
Chapters are then listed. Quotes from others start this book.
Montauk and we find Zara on the beach with her friend Ally.
We are given info about her relationship with Stewart but she had never even dated her.
She’s involved in getting others to invest for the dating app they are working on: Soulmate.
She had met a man on the beach and had given her an alias name, as did he.
Like the idea of them trying it themselves and they plan to just hire all women.
Zara is set up with Lance, the CEO of a dating app, he’s doing research himself to check out the competition…they have met many times in the past month.
Love learning about the oasis outside the city and have marked it as a place we need to travel to-about 3 hours drive for us.
At the big opening of Soulmate things go so very right: engagement, party is on and then things go oh so wrong: financial, family medical emergency and Zara telling Lance everything…
When Ally calls to tell her the outcome of the whole company she tells her about her part in it all. She hibernates at her parents house as her mom brings her dad home from the hospital….
Their whole friendship has ended as her relationship with Lance. So many secrets and there is hope for them all…
Never expected story to end this way, WOW, so unpredictable clues didn’t lead this way. Great read!
Author opens up about her secrets and an excerpt from another of her books is included at the end.
Other works with summaries are also listed at the end, about the author.
Received this review copy from the author and this is my honest opinion.
Clean, sweet story about two best friends with a dream. One has invented a dating app to match you to your Mr Right. The other friend is helping her do it with her own marketing skills. Will it work? Read and see. I really enjoyed this ARC copy. Hope you like it too.
M.K. Lansbury has written an intensifying 5-star book. This book has Zara feeling an attraction for the owner of Finders which is a dating app. Zara’s friend Ally has developed Soul Mates and all she needs is the funding to launch the app. Zara and Ally are together with some friends from college just to catch up when the friends go off to a party but Zara and Ally stay behind. Ally gets a phone call to say she now has her funding so they decide to go to the party. After a while Zara needs some air, so she goes down to the beach where she meets Lance. Lance is the CEO of Finders. Zara does not know who he is until she is asked to go on a talk show and he is in the crowd and asked a question about his company. They start to see each other but keep it quiet because they are in the same business but work for different companies. Something happens to the company that is putting up the funding for Ally. While Zara is at the launce party Lance learns something about his company and he is leaving when Zara comes in. He takes things out on her and says some things which hurt her. Ally finds out that Zara has been seeing Lance and gets mad and tells her off.
Can Zara repair her friendship with Ally? Can she ever get Lance to listen to her, that she did not have anything to do with what happened to his company?
Can Lance find out who is behind the trouble with his company? Can he help Zara and Ally save theirs?
This book was an interesting read and I would recommend it to anyone.
I received an ARC copy of this book for my voluntarily and honest review.

I liked this story very much. It is fun, funny & worth the time to enjoy. You shouldn’t be disappointed to buy it. I received an ARC. This is my voluntary recommendation.
Zara and Lance are attracted to each other, but learn that they work for rival dating apps. Can they have a relationship or does Zara owe her loyalty to Ally regardless? I won’t leave any spoilers, but I will say I really enjoyed the start to this new series. I bet you’ll really enjoy the end of this book. I’m looking forward to reading more about these characters. If you enjoy strong characters, strong friendships, and/or romance, then grab your copy or read with your KU membership.

• I found the deep friendship between Zara and Ally sweet.
• There were many funny moments in this story that made me laugh.
• The question of whether or not Lance Chase, CEO of Finders, was a good guy was constantly on my mind. Was he too good to be true?
• The author was very good at painting emotional and visual pictures with her words. I felt a part of the scenes.
• This was a clean read except the use of the G** word. I wish the author had not used it. Minus 1 star.
