What would you kill for? After a brutal nuclear war, the United States was left decimated. A small group of survivors eventually banded together, but only after more conflict over which family would govern the new nation. The Westfalls lost. Fifty years later, peace and control are maintained by marrying the daughters of the losing side to the sons of the winning group in a yearly ritual. This … yearly ritual.
This year, it is my turn.
My name is Ivy Westfall, and my mission is simple: to kill the president’s son–my soon-to-be husband–and return the Westfall family to power.
But Bishop Lattimer is either a very skilled actor or he’s not the cruel, heartless boy my family warned me to expect. He might even be the one person in this world who truly understands me. But there is no escape from my fate. I am the only one who can restore the Westfall legacy.
Because Bishop must die. And I must be the one to kill him

This one has been sitting on my tbr and bookshelf for far too long. I was not disappointed by this story, but I was hoping for more. I thought The Book of Ivy was going to be more deceptive with lies and betrayal, but it followed more around Ivy and her marriage to Bishop. Don’t get me wrong I liked that Bishop wasn’t who Ivy thought he was and how she slowly started to see the real Bishop to everything she had been told about the kind of person that he is. They shared the same ideas and thoughts.
I really enjoyed Ivy’s inner struggle from doing what her family wants her to do in order to gain power and not wanting Bishop dead because she likes the person she is learning so much about. She grows quite a lot, has her own ideas and thoughts, and it creates this great inner turmoil.
I think the ending made this book worth it in the end. Ivy makes a selfless decision with the best of intentions and knowing how it will impact her and her relationship with the people closest to her. Now I am dying to know how this will all end.

I haven’t read a good dystopian in a while and I saw this book recommended, so I figured, why not go for it? It was so different from what I normally read these days that it took me a bit of time to get into the story, but once I got into it, I enjoyed it a lot. I did not know what to expect when I started reading this book and it was very different from anything I’ve read before. I liked that this book wasn’t extremely big and I felt like I read through it very easily. I do feel like a big part of the book was based on character development and only towards the ending it got more focused on the plot. That said, I do think that this was good for the story. This character development needed to happen for the story to go the way it goes. Overall, a very enjoyable read and I definitely will read the next book to see where this story ends.

Im in to apocalypse books right now and this is a very good read. Well written with plenty of suspence and good clean romance between two young people. I recommend this book to anyone who is interested in realistic apocalyptic reads
I really enjoyed this book. I think the way it was thought out and told was amazing. The plot is one of my favorites to read. It’s about two families that had a war for power after the world was decimated. One democracy the other dictator. The dictator won with more followers. The daughters of the loser side marries the sons of the winning side and the daughters of the winning side marries the sons of the losing side. They don’t get to choose who they Marry. Ivy the granddaughter of the man who fought for the presidency of democracy is meant to marry the grandson of the man who won the presidency for dictatorship. But Ivy has a mission mapped out by her father to kill her husband. To start another war. But is the man that is to be her husband as cruel as her father made him out to be. What she decides to do will change everything.
