In Book One of this cozy mystery series, a morose parrot with a reputation for biting sums up Brookside Retirement Community for reluctant resident, Josephine Bartlett. But when Brookside turns out to be a setting for art theft, dodgy dealings, and naked poker, it becomes vastly more interesting. Josephine investigates the unusual goings on with friend and handwriting expert, Lill Fitzel. And the … the two befriend a young woman Josephine tries to prevent from making the same mistakes she has made.

Wonderfully written with entertaining characters and well-developed plot. I enjoyed reading it and was disappointed that book two wasn’t available to download! Excellent!
For being the first book in a series, Ann Warner does a nice job in building characters and entertaining the readers. Although the outcome of the main plot is never in doubt from the mid-point of the publication, the sub-plots more than carry the reader from page-to-page. It’s an enjoyable, relaxing read … and hoping for more like this from Warner.
Kinda a different twist to the plot
Fast, easy, enjoyable read.
A bit weak
I really liked that the story was time from more than one characters point if view. The characters were realistic, fun, and smart
I wanted to arrest some of the characters but I liked the way things ended up.
enjoyable read
Great read! The “mystery” part of the novel was rather transparent, but the characters and specifics of their lot were very real and enjoyable! A true pleasure!
A good non violent story and one that could happen.
The title was an obvious attention getter! The story is revealed in each chapter from the point of view of one of the main characters( a delightful group), a device that I really enjoyed. This book, and the next two were wonderful quick reads over a weekend. I thoroughly enjoyed the series and look forward to the next installment.
Great read
Good book. Funny tongue in cheek book.
This book was great. I loved the characters from a retirement, home. It was different & enjoyable.
I liked the characters
It was interesting, liked the way the characters played out,
Really enjoyed. Flowed smoothly. A book that was hard to put down.
A naked poker club in an old folks community living? Really? I had to find out. And it took me on a good reading adventure of oldish and not so old, and diverse personalities and surprise motivations.
Can’t wait for book 2
