Have you ever felt overwhelmed, suffocated, and stressed out by the amount of clutter in your life? Are you ready to break free from the confines of having too much “stuff” but not sure where to start? The truth is… you probably have too many things taking up unnecessary space in your life. But what you might not know is that those things are weighing you down in more ways than one… Think about … weighing you down in more ways than one…
Think about it: all the dirty dishes piling up in the kitchen, those “just in case” items you keep in the garage, or Christmas presents you stuck in the back of your closet (which you knew you’d never use) aren’t just taking up physical space — they’re stealing your mental space, too.
Sure, you might be able to ignore all the clutter for a short while, but it’s only a matter of time before the messiness causes unwarranted stress, embarrassment, and anxiety.
However, it doesn’t have to be this way… clearing out the clutter to make space for more money, time, creativity, and relaxation is easier than you think.
How to Change Your Life with Minimalism
Contrary to what many believe, decluttering and tidying up your home isn’t just about shuffling things around or throwing away items. It’s about consciously organizing your life to make room for prosperity, abundance, and happiness. In The Art of Minimalism you will discover:
- The best way to utilize minimalism to be more productive and add hours to your day
- How to effectively use the “Pomodoro Method” to simplify your minimizing process
- The one thing you should do in the morning to create a “declutter domino” effect (hint: most people forget about this!)
- A fool-proof 30-day challenge to effectively organize your space
- Tips for spotting a “messy” relationship (and what to do about it)
- Why a “cluttered brain” equals a cluttered home and how to clear the mental mayhem
- How to use a simple, yet powerful organizational trick (this helped one mom build a multimillion dollar business)
Imagine… in just a few months from now, you could have a transformed space that’s stress-free, relaxed, and serene. Every time someone visits your home, they’ll continue to ask how you keep things so organized!
Even if you have hoards of unnecessary things piling up like mountains, Olivia Telford shows you the little-known ways to declutter your life top to bottom. With easy-to-follow steps and a simple approach to minimalism, you too can experience the joyful and carefree life which comes along with tidying up.

The best thing about this book is that the author practices what she preaches. There is no extra rhetoric. It’s “the facts. Just the facts.” I wish more books were written in this style.
She discusses how clutter affects other parts of your life like your thinking, eating, and overall being. She tells you where to start to declutter and how, and gives recipes for safe cleaners..
She addresses decluttering relationships and goal setting. She employs affirmations, an area in which I haven’t had much success, but the book is motivating and you’re sure to come away with new ideas.

This book gives you the incentive & motivation to actually take control of our buying habits. To be able to recognize the gimmicks that advertisers use to convince us that we really “need” this item or items. Also, what do we do when our houses or apartments are filled with all this unnecessary stuff? We push it under our beds or in closets…to collect dust…thinking one day I will use it..but we never do. The author explains in detail how to get out of this rut..and stop being a slave to advertisers…how to take back our hard earned money. We each need to make a decision to declutter our lives of all this stuff bought on a whim. Little by little the author shows us just how to save our money, organize our homes, declutter and set ourselves free from the bigwigs that use us to make their pockets fat. I encourage everyone to purchase this book. It has given me to strength and courage to actually declutter the last frontier in my house …being all the dusty junk I shoved down my basement.
I guess I have already been doing most of the recommendations. I did not find the declutter of the home that helpful but found some good tidbits in declutter my mind and day.

I am somewhat of a procrastinator but after this reading this book I’ve realised that less most definitely is more. I love the simplicity of each step. Nothing feels like it cannot be achieved and incorporated into everyday life

I found this book to be more than just another how to declutter book. Face it. After years of collecting so much stuff, it can be overwhelming to even consider downsizing! The author offers practical ways to begin the process… stick with the process… and see the satisfying result of sticking with it. Links to some helpful resources are even included. Procrastinators often do so because they feel overwhelmed at the daunting task presenting itself. Sometimes all we need is a little help getting started. I felt like I got that help after reading this book. The book was easy reading and to the point. Deliberately a thumbs up on this one!

This was much more than a book on decluttering and organizing. In the spirit of ”give someone a fish and they eat for a day vs teach them to fish and they can eat their whole life”, this book discusses why clutter happens, why it’s bad for our overall health, why it’s so hard to deal with clutter and how/why it keeps returning, plus a whole lot of strategies and tips for dealing with the feelings of being overwhelmed and procrastination that invariably paralyze de-cluttering efforts and allow it to fester again, environmentally friendly cleaning methods, where to sell and donate excess belongings, and why mental clutter is as draining as physical clutter and how to deal with that as well, etc,. This isn’t a ”change your life overnight” sort of book, but rather a ”change your mindset” in order to reap longterm rewards and mental calm by employing mindfulness, situational awareness and some tried and true methods for being proactive about the life, living space, and mental attachments we choose to enjoy.
Additionally, the author included a bonus book called Take Back Your Day: How Simple Daily Actions Can Change Your Life, which seems quite promising as well.
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.

I really enjoyed going through this book. There is a wealth of knowledge about reducing your clutter in this book. More is not always better and the author manages to explain in detail the whys and how’s of paring down your life to what is important. She also doesn’t just focus on decluttering your physical possessions, but covers all aspects of your life including relationships and thoughts. She has examples, stories, and scientific data to support her processes. I definitely recommend this for anyone looking to pare down!

I needed this information badly. I am not a hoarder but we moved from a big house to a little house and we realized how much STUFF we have that we do not really need. So this book has been helping immensely. I like this book better than other books I have read on this topic because it seems to help me more and is easy to follow.

I love reading books about minimalism. This book provided inspiration to stay the course. Olivia begins by telling us to “start by making your bed.”; simple advice, but something I just recently started doing. She emphasizes that it’s doing little things in our lives–like making the bed, washing the dishes, etc that will help us to create the life we want. She covers a lot of territory in this little book. She goes through decluttering our homes–and why we would want to, offers a 30-day challenge. She also discusses decluttering other areas of our lives–friendship, thinking, how we spend our time. I also liked her chapter on natural cleaning–although if you’re really sensitive to vinegar (like me) you might want to substitute citric acid for the vinegar. It’s a quick read that covers a lot of territory!

There is a wealth of knowledge packed into the 71 pages of this book. Just like minimalism itself, more is not always better and Olivia Telford manages to cover in detail the why and how of paring down your life to what is important. She doesn’t just focus on decluttering your physical possessions, but covers all aspects of your life including relationships and thoughts. She even has examples, anecdotes and data to support her work, yet there isn’t any fluff. The book was like a great conversation with a dear friend, and I would highly recommend it to anyone who is on the journey to minimalism or even considering starting on it.

Since I was reading Ms. Telford’s book “Mindfulness”, there was an expectation that this book would cover issues concerning the soul and personal growth. As a guide to keeping a clean house and its benefits, the book has very valid suggestions.
