Sweet Release

For five pounds sterling, the convict was hers. Though Cassie hated the slave trade, her Virginia plantation demanded the labor, and she knew this fevered man would surely die if she left him. But as his wounds healed, and as his muscled chest bronzed from the sun, Cassie realized Cole Braden was far more dangerous than his papers had indicated — for he could steal her breath with a glance, or … lay siege to her senses with a touch.

Abducted, beaten, and given a new name, Alec Kenleigh went from master of an English shipbuilding empire to fourteen years of indentured servitude in the American colonies. There, he was known as Cole Braden, a convicted ravisher and defiler of women. While he longed to ravish the auburn-haired beauty who owned him, he knew his one hope of earning her love — and his freedom — was to prove his true identity. Only then could he turn the tables and obtain his… Sweet Release.

This was the first time I have read a book by this author. Do not have enough superlatives to describe how much I enjoyed this story. I even bought this next book in the series (which I never do) and was pleased to find it just as entertaining as the first. I will definitely read any book Pamela Clare writes.

I found these Kenliegh books so informative. We see at eye level what this period of History was really like. Pamela Clare does not varnish over the trials and tribulations of the issues of these days. The characters are wonderful, the setting colorful, the period of time shines. I thoroughly enjoyed this book!

Wonderful character with a great romance couple.

I love the Early American Colonial period for its raw frontier adventure feel so I picked up this book and settled in for a good read. I was not disappointed though this would not be a book that a person who leans more toward the historical than the romance in their fiction should probably enjoy as much. Not that it was inaccurate! It was just …

I thought this was an excellent historical romance. Parts of it were incredibly frustrating – though historically accurate. I’m glad for the happy ending, and I was reading the descriptions for the next books in the series and I’m interested to read more. This book was well written, descriptive and engaging. Excellent read!

Although fictional, definitely a page turner. I actually got tearful at times.

The book was very entertaining. I enjoyed the romance. I’m not sure who came up with the name “Sweet Release” or the cover photo, but it doesn’t give any indication of the story line and it doesn’t have anything to do with the setting… I passed this book over several times because the cover didn’t appeal to me.

This was the best book I’ve read in ages. The writing is excellent, the plotting is excellent, and there is never a dull moment as you read. This writer ranks up high with the best writers out there. a Daphne Du Maurier.

The story line and characters were wonderful. The sex scenes were abosolutly pornographic to the extreme.

Terrific story line outlining greed and reprehensible behavior on both sides of the pond!
Human spirit conquers dismal circumstances. Loved it.

Getting through this story was an endurance test. I could not like H/h, nor the plots and subplots. There are many forms of violence, and lots of descriptive sex. The hero survives more knockout blows, floggings, and near miss gunshots than a cat has lives. I skimmed a lot of the book; it took longer than a letter sent between Virginia and …
